Hello friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together. Praising him. This song went through a lot of revisions. Henry Alfred wrote the song and it originally had four stanzas or four verses. Then he added three more verses, so now there were seven, and then he took away three of the verses, so it now has the four that we know today Safely and our winter forever. Welcome to hide his word, a special program where we take a few minutes to hide God's word in our hearts. Let's go ahead and get started Today. We are going to start at Psalm 91 verse one, and we'll go all the way through Psalm 91 verses one through 13. He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God. In him I will trust. Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with his feathers and under his wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield. And butler, you shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste. At noon day, a thousand may fall at your side and 10,000 at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked because you have made the Lord who is my refuge, even the most high, your dwelling place, no evil shall be follow you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways, in their hands, they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot against us. Stone. Let's try saying those last two verses 11 and 12. Say it with me. For he shall give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways, in their hands, they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone, you shall tread, pawn the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent. You shall trample underfoot. Good job. We are learning these verses hiding God's word in our hearts. Hello. Hello. Welcome back. As we continue the story about King Solomon, who was King Solomon. Do you remember who his father was? His father was David King David, and now David has died and Solomon is the king. We're gonna find out what happened to him because of the choices that he made. But first, let's pray. Lord, help us to stay faithful to you, to make those little choices every day that leads to the path of righteousness and that leads to eternal life rather than to destruction in Jesus' name. Amen. Growing up, there was a family that I did not have personal contact with, but many of my friends did. They were friends with these people's kids and they grew up together and a lot of my friends who were girls really liked the boys in this family. And as time went by, these young men started to change. They started not following in the ways of their parents and they started doing their own thing. They started pursuing worldly things and as they continued on through life, pretty soon they found themselves not loving God, not going to church and being pretty miserable, but their parents prayed and prayed and prayed, and even though it didn't always look like their parents had done a very good job, at least that's what some people would think because their children were not following in their footsteps. The parents prayed anyway, and you know what? As time went by, those boys turned back to God. They remembered how their parents had raised them and they determined that they were going to love and follow Jesus. And today that's what they do. Their ministry is loving others and being kind to others and sharing Jesus with others. Just because children go a different way as they become adults does not mean that God doesn't love them anymore. In fact, that's what happened to King Solomon. You would think the wisest man who ever lived, he had it all together, but Solomon didn't. The Bible tells us that there's two kinds of wisdom, one that comes from God and one that comes from Satan. For a long time after he became king of Israel, what kind of wisdom did Solomon choose? He chose God's wisdom, yes, but little by little he started depending on his own wisdom, he started trusting in his own riches, and soon his wisdom was coming from someone else. Who was that from Satan? Yes. Solomon had changed from being a wise, kind, and humble person who loved God to someone different. He was no longer happy even though he had everything he could ever want. He became proud and selfish and even cruel. God still loved Solomon. Even one of his names. Jedediah means loved of God and God tried many times to help him to see that he was making terrible choices, choices that were leading him away from God. Finally, God sent a prophet to him with one last warning, and Solomon suddenly woke up. He realized what he was doing, the path he was on, the choices he was making, and he decided that, you know what? I wanna turn back to God. He was truly sorry. Like David, he didn't make any excuses. In fact, Solomon even wrote a book warning others not to make the wrong choices like he had reminds me of these boys. They turned back to God. They realized that the path they were on was not a good one, and they wanted God in their lives. Solomon even told us in his book, Ecclesiastes, that we try to find happiness by doing all kinds of things, but they don't work. It's like trying to catch the wind with your hand. You cannot find happiness in things. Let's look at Ecclesiastes chapter two, verse 11. Ecclesiastes chapter two, verse 11. Let's go to Ecclesiastes. It's in Psal. It's after Psalms, I should say Psalms, Proverbs. So here's Proverbs, and then Ecclesiastes, chapter two. Chapter two. That's at the beginning of the book, verse 11. Look at those little numbers. Verse 11, what does it say? Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and and on the labor in which I had toiled and indeed was all vanity and grasping for the wind, and there was no prophet under the sun. Solomon's saying that he looked at everything he had done all of his accomplishments and it was nothing. Now, let's go to the end of the book, Ecclesiastes chapter 12, just a few pages over, I think it was like three pages for me. Ecclesiastes chapter 12, and let's look at verse one and then verse 13, and then verse 14. Okay, so let's go to verse one first. Here's what verse one says. Remember now your creator and the days of your youth before the difficult days come in the years, draw near when you say, I have no pleasure in them. He's saying, remember the creator in the days of your youth. Remember how you were raised to love God? Remember that. Now, let's go to verse 13 and 14. Fear God and keep his commandments. For this is man's all for God will bring every word into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil. Solomon realizes that loving God, having God's wisdom is what is most important. Do you wanna have God's kind of wisdom? James chapter three, verse 17 tells us what that wisdom is like. James chapter three 17 says this, But the wisdom that is from above is first, pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield full of mercy and good fruit without partiality and without hypocrisy. And then verses 14, 15, and 16 says this, But if you have bitter envy in self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic, for where envy and self-seeking exist confusion in every evil thing are there. That tells us what Satan's wisdom is like. There's a complete difference between the two. God wants to give us peace, gentleness, kindness, no hypocrisy, but what does Satan wanna give us? Bitter envy and self-seeking and boastfulness envy and oh, confusion. And that sounds like a terrible list, doesn't it? Aren't you glad that Solomon woke up to what he was doing to the choices he was making before he died? Boys and girls? That's a lesson for us. We have a choice today that we can learn from the story of Solomon. We can learn to ask God for his wisdom and to follow his wisdom. Maybe there are some choices that you are making in your lives today that aren't God's choices. Won't you turn to Jesus today, ask him to forgive you, and to help you to make the good choices, the right choices in your life. I wanna do that. Let's pray. Lord, you know that there are things in our lives that we do that may not be in line with you, may not be following you, may not be choices that you would make. Help us, Lord, today to follow you, to give you our hearts. Give us the power to make good choices that leads to happiness and eternal life. In Jesus' name, amen Gives wisdom. Enjoy, man is inside.
