Missionary On a Secular Campus

Our Heavenly Father, we're grateful to be here this morning, and we are in need of your Holy Spirit.

May you be able to teach us, may you be able to guide us, may we be able to learn more about Jesus Christ.

We read in 2 Corinthians 4-6, For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

See, light not only help us see, but light help us understand and get to know Jesus.

And you know, there are many ways of getting to know Jesus.

For example, the psalmist used to love to contemplate nature and learn from those beautiful lessons that are written in so many places in nature.

And when you study intricate things like the physics of how this world is composed and works, you can only say, praise God.

I mean, if you have the understanding of those minute things, for example, the cosmological constant which tells us how things in this universe are either moving or contracting.

Are you aware that if this constant was moved just slightly in the positive or the negative, the universe would end there.

Either everything would collapse or everything would be separated into oblivion.

And it is the hand of a master designer who put all this intricacies in its right place.

And even our planet earth, it is fantastic and fabulous the way that God designed this planet for us to be able to have life on this earth.

You know, if we were the earth closer to the sun, it would be too hot.

If it was just a little bit farther out, it would be too cold.

Life could not exist for long terms in such environments.

And there are so many things that fall just right on the money over and over and over for life on this planet earth to exist.

Those are glimpses of how much God loves you.

See love is not only words but it is actually actions.

And these minute things tells us about the love of God.

And you know, it's very interesting that God made us to do discoveries.

See what if the atmosphere that we have was like the atmosphere in Venice.

Yet God gave us a transparent atmosphere so we could peek outside and see the wonderful works that He has made.

See, God could have put the solar system very close to the center of this galaxy.

There are so many stars and it is so bright down there, you couldn't see anything.

But see, we are located right on the money in an arm of the galaxy so that we are not crowded with so many stars around us that we couldn't see much.

But that arm, you're able to peek outside and see the beauty of this universe.

And even the night and day cycle, the way that this is designed, that you have opportunity to glimpse into that darkness so you can peek outside, and then also have the privilege of the beautiful sunlight so you could do your normal living.

And even things like the eclipses, They are designed so that when the sun and the moon, they intersect each other, they're able to perfectly block each other.

I don't know if you have ever seen a total eclipse.

It's 1 of the most fabulous things you can ever see.

And you can see the power of the sun going to the side, absolutely at the sign of a loving creator.

And you know, even when you see minutiae, for example, when we see when genes turn on, It is absolutely fabulous what is happening inside your body.

See, if we go inside the nucleus of a cell, we see the master coding of our creator called the DNA.

This program that tells us how the human body should behave.

If we activate a gene, we need to go ahead and open that DNA.

It requires a micro-machine that is able to open that.

Not only that, these are only instructions.

I need to copy that instruction from that DNA into a code that I can take out of the cell in order to interpret.

Once that copy is made, that copy needs to go outside of the nucleus.

First, that code needs to identify itself.

Once it identifies itself, a micro door opens.

That code is able to go outside of the nucleus and outside of the nucleus of the cell there is another micro machine that is waiting and this micro machine is able to interpret this code.

So that micromachine assembles and then in a fabulous, beautiful way, that code ends up being deciphered.

On the bottom part you see the protein that is being formed and on the top part is the code that is being translated.

And each of the pieces that are coming, they need to match perfectly with the code that is on the top.

And that protein starts to be formed piece by piece.

It needs to be right on the money, or if not, this doesn't work.

So there is another micromachine in which the different angles of the protein are being made.

1 mistake in the angle, and this doesn't work.

This has to work perfectly, or if not, It doesn't work.

So as this protein is being folded carefully to the right angle, once it's ready, now that protein needs to be transported.

So another micro machine that works like a truck comes and picks up that protein and takes it where it needs it.

And you know, I read a quotation that opened my eyes to 1 of the things that God wants us to be involved.

We find that quotation in Councils of Diet and Foods.

It says, Our gracious Heavenly Father sees that the probable condition of men, who some knowingly but many ignorantly, are living in violation of the laws that he has established.

And in love and pity to the race he causes the light to shine upon what?

See, God shines a special light on health reform.

He publishes his law and the penalty that will follow the transgression of it, that all may learn and be careful to live in harmony with natural law.

And then the quotation continues, a few paragraphs under there.

To make plain natural law and urge obedience of it is the work that accompanies the third angel's message to prepare a people for the coming of the Lord.

And see, God wants us to shine light so that we can see very clearly why health reform is important.

And you know I have the privilege of being involved in this work.

And it is fabulous to see what happens when you apply those principles found in the spirit of prophecy and the Bible into real life.

When you put those principles in real life, then health can come about.

And see, it says in the Review and Herald, bear in mind forever that disease does not come without cause.

Every 1 of them has its causes and the Lord has given you in outline, yes more than in outline, in detail the causes of disease.

Seek for the cause and consciously correct that, and God will invariably cooperate with you.

And see, if you are a physician, this should be your goal.

Don't just treat symptoms, but try to inquire in your head what is the cause of the problem.

And see, there's a new movement that I have the privilege of being involved that is called lifestyle medicine.

See, in the old days, this was in the periphery.

You were weird if you were talking about these things.

You open the top journals, you go to the universities around the world and this is the conversation that we are having.

See there is a paper that we publish that deals with that quotation in particular, talking about depression.

You can access it for free if you Google 2 words.
