This Generation- 1

This evening we're going to talk about a subject called this generation.

I want to first begin in a passage of scripture that you're all familiar with, but I'm going to start with a quotation.

In This quotation, I want you to get the context of what we're going to study.

We find here in CTR 93 paragraph 2, it says, the great controversy between the prince of life and the prince of darkness has been going forward, strengthening with each successive generation.

Severe indeed has been the conflict waged between right and wrong, between truth and error, between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness.

Truth has fought against error and error against truth.

The conflict has existed for how long, my friends?

See, none of us are a thousand years old.

And this says thousands of years this conflict has been going forward.

So essentially, the idea is very simple that when we were born, we were born into a conflict.

When we were born, we were born into a warfare.

In the Middle East, you know, they have bombs going off here and there.

They have young children that are afraid to walk the streets.

In fact, in Chicago right now, people are shooting each other at a high clip.

There is warfare going on on earth, but my friends, the celestial warfare has been going on for thousands of years, and you have been born in the midst of a conflict.

If you've been born in the midst of a conflict, how come we feel so at ease?

If we're in the midst of a war, how come we are so dignified and simple?

If we were at war, and if we knew we were at war, if we knew there was a spiritual warfare, I wonder how much more intensely we would pray.

I wonder how much more deeply we would open the Bible and we would study it if we truly understood and we truly realized that we are in the midst of a war.

It may not make a lot of sense to you, but it just made sense for me.

I have this arrow up here with the woman and then I have a dragon at the bottom and then I have the beginning of time, that little blue line means the beginning of time, and that other blue line at the end is the end of time, and in the middle is this warfare that we're talking about.

Now, this warfare on the planet Earth began with Adam and Eve.

The serpent is a symbol of the dragon side.

These are faithful children of God, symbols of the guardians of the covenant.

Then you have Cain and his descendants, Noah and his descendants, Nimrod and the list can go on.

All these pagan powers always fighting against the people of God.

Then we have the children of Israel, God's chosen people.

God took them out of the land of Egypt, gave them the 10 Commandments, had them wandering in the wilderness as a means of sanctification, and as they're wandering along, you have the Hivites and the Jebusites and the Perizzites and the Ammonites and all the Ites.

The Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Chaldeans, all these powers constantly rubbing against and fighting against the people of God, getting God's people to come off the track that God has designed or had designed for them.

And then we have the Christian church, because after the children of Israel, God had a chosen people.

The chosen people was the Christian church, the apostles and whatnot.

Papal Rome rises up against the Christian church to seek to stamp out the reality of God's promise of the power of the gospel.

This generation we call ourselves the remnant church, the chosen people of God.

And coming against the remnant church, we have Babylon the great.

Now, my friends, I want you to understand that in every generation there has been a warfare that has been a conflict there has been a contrarian power and I tell you We're at the end of all these things.

So I'm thinking to myself, if the enemy knows that he's at the end, we know that he knows that his time is short.

He's seeking to separate us from the Almighty God.

I just want to know, and I'm asking you, do you realize that you are in the midst of a war?

Now I'm going to show you some pictures here.

Again, the guardians of the covenant are in blue, the rise of the rebellion is in red.

Again, the question is, Whose side are you on?

That's a little, some people like serpents.

I have a friend who likes to hold these type of creatures.

This is not a pet that I want to have in my house.

This makes me feel completely uncomfortable.

This is a picture of a serpent, and I want you to go to the book of Revelation for a moment as we begin our Bible study this evening.

I want you to track with me because we're going to begin where we're very familiar and then we're going to deal with some very heavy concepts.

Revelation chapter 12 and we're going to begin reading at verse number 1.

The Bible says, And there it appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of 12 stars.

And she being with child cried, treveling in birth and pained to be delivered.

And there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold, a great red dragon, having 7 heads and 10 horns, and 7 crowns upon his heads.

And his tail drew to the third part of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth.

And the dragon stood before the woman, which was ready to be delivered for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Verse 7 says, And there was war in heaven, war in heaven.

Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels and prevailed not.

Neither was there a place found anymore in heaven.

And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil and Satan, which deceiveth, how much of the world?

He was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him.

So let's pause for a moment, let's think.

Yes, I've seen pregnant women, very beautiful.

And as you see these pregnant women, do you see them moving in any rapid speed, any fast movements?

Especially when they're about to give birth, do you see any of that?

In fact, I often see them kinda, you see that?

Having to support themselves as they're beginning to sit down.

And I think to myself, if a pregnant woman is running from a dragon, do you think that's a fair competition?
