Can There Be a Way Out of Drugs and Criminality?: Samir’s Journey

I was searching for the meaning of life. I had a void in my soul that no amount of drugs or alcohol could feel. Sometimes I spent hours alone in the woods crying out for help, but God intervened in my life in an amazing way. My name is Sam MEK and I'm born and raised in Sweden. My father is from Morocco and he was a non-practice in Muslim. And my mother is Swedish and she was not a believer. So I grew up with no religion. When my father was young, he used to be beaten by his father. And when I was a child, my father used to beat me. So I think that's where my insecurities started. I became a kid with a double life like a Dr. Jel and Mr. Hyde on one hand, I was good at sports and was accepted. But on the other hand, I was with my friends and did a lot of bad things. When I was about seven years old, I was stealing little things like chewing gum. After a few years, I stole clothes perfumes. And when I went into high school, I was drinking alcohol and experimenting with sex and drugs. I soon began to sell drugs and stolen goods. I drove to different places and I broke into houses. I stopped caring. I drove to school stolen cars. When I was young, I was caught a lot by police and they drove me home and my parents got angry and they granted me, but it didn't help. My young life was formed by criminality. And later I went into custody. This went on until I was about 20 years old. I had stolen goods at my parents' place, and the police did a house search. After that, my parents said that they had enough of me. They asked me if I wanted to move to Spain, hoping that if I were away from my bad friends, I would change. I thought this sounds like a vacation. Why not? Spain was like a paradise. Drugs were much cheaper. So I continued using stealing and lying. I had lied since I was very young. And by this time I was in a spiral of lying to the point that it was very hard to keep track of my own life. Anyway, I met a girl there and we got together. And since she was studying management, I decided to do the same to get a degree in hotel and restaurant management. After a while, we were expecting a baby and my parents hoped that now, now my life would change. Unfortunately, the old bad habits continued. I got a break and I received a job offer at raison in Stockholm. I became good at what I was doing, and I really loved to serve people, but my double life continued. And my relationship with my girlfriend really started to fall apart. And later on, I moved to Norway to help another chain to open a hotel. And I was rubbing shoulders with a lot of rich people, but I was still taking drugs and suddenly different thoughts came into my mind. Why are we here? Why am I living? Am I just born in order to die? Is there any purpose in life? Is there any truth? What are we doing here? Why so much suffering? And I couldn't wrap my mind around these thoughts. I talked to some of my friends in Norway because I wanted to have answers to my questions, but they said, Sammy don't talk so much. And I was advancing when it came to my career, but my soul was drying up. So I decided to quit my work, move back to Sweden and find the purpose in life. Browsing the internet. Two topics caught my attention. The first was conspiracies and how people behind the scenes are controlling the world. I started to invest my money in alternative currencies. I bought silver, I bought gold and I buried it in the ground. And I also met a guy called Daniel on the internet who helped me to invest in a new currency called Bitcoin. I was gripped with fear. The world was heading for disaster. The plan was to hunker down in the forest with the diesel generator. And of course I needed something to eat. So I bought myself two tons of dried freezed food. The second topic was new age and spiritualism, meditation and yoga. And I started to buy myself. Amul emulate and stones in order to receive energy from the universe. So I went into the forest and I started to sing. I started to scream for hours and I was really desperate for help. After six months of this, I didn't make any progress. I talked to different people from different religions, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhist, Harry Krisna, but I only saw religion as a tool to control people. I was searching for love, but I didn't find love anywhere. I only saw horror and Dartmouth. I was attracted by certain symbols, like the number three and the Greek letters, alpha and omega. And I started to go to different churches, but I didn't know why I went to churches all around Stockholm. Sometimes I went inside. Sometimes I just walked around outside one day. I felt the urge to go back to my old work at raison. I saw a guy that was handing out pamphlets in the street, and I thought for myself, I had never taken a pamphlet. So I'm not gonna take any. But the voice inside of me said three times. I mean, take a pamphlet. And just because that voice said it three times, I decided to take a pamphlet. And the man that gave me the pamphlet, he suddenly grabbed my arm and said to me, Jesus is the truth, the way and the life. And I got really shocked. And I looked down at the pamphlet and when I looked up again, the man was gone in 2016 during Christmas, I went out with my friends and we drank a lot of alcohol. I was smoking and taking cocaine. And the next day I felt really sick. And this went on for six days without eating or drinking and with stomach ache. And on the seventh day, I said to my parents, please take me to the hospital. I was 30 years old. And I thought that the drugs had caught up with me. The doctors did a lot of tests and they put me on drip and I was just afraid that they would find the drugs within me, but they didn't find anything. And they just told me that you can go home the next day. And I was discharged. And since that day I haven't had any need of any drugs, any alcohol, any cigarettes is just vanished away. And now when I think about it, I know that it's a miracle from God. A few weeks later, I met with Daniel. We had a dinner and we talked about conspiracies and how the future is so bleak. And he said, Sammy, don't worry. God will help you. And when he said, God, I got really frustrated and angry because I told him, where is God? When we need him? Don't you see all of the suffering in the world? Don't you see the women being raped, the children abused. And in the evening. And Daniel asked me if I wanted to go with him to church and the next day was a Saturday. So I say, yeah, why not? And I went with him to seven day Adventist church in Stockholm. And when I came there, I had long hair, like I had before. And I had my re sweater and I had golden ambulance around my neck. And yeah, it was really different. And that morning they had a Bible study and I had never opened a Bible before, but I was really happy. I was singing within myself and I was just listening because they were talking about the number three. They were talking about the Godhead God, the father, God, the son and God, the holy spirit. And I realized that Jesus was the alpha and omega that Jesus was the truth and the way and the life. And all of the things that I have been thinking about, the number three and everything just clicked in my mind. And it went from my head to my heart and I felt such a peace. Like someone took his hand and grabbed my heart and gave me a new heart. And I knew that everything was good. And I started to read and study the Bible and slowly got answers to my questions. And one brother from the church, Avast showed me the prophecies of the Bible, especially from the book of Daniel. And it blew my mind. I thought that no one can know the future. But when I studied the prophecies of the Bible, I saw that all of the things had been fulfilled. And that told me that God exists. And I got convinced that God loves me and that he wrote the Bible. I started to go to church regularly and I met a lot of good Christians that love me. And I now have a new spiritual family today. I love to speak about Jesus and what he has done in my life. I also found peace and forgiveness, and I saw that God has created us for a purpose. We can know where we come from. We can know where we are going and we can have happiness and joy in life. All this started to change my life before I didn't love people. But now I do. I had tried many times before to change my life of criminality and drugs, but it was impossible. It was so rooted in me, but God has given me a heart transplant and no one else can do that. I had to give up some things and sometimes it's been really hard, but I know that God is only keeping me away from things that would harm me. God used all of those small impressions that I had to put me into the right place so I could see the whole picture and to learn the truth. I started the Bible in great. I wanted to make sure that I was not going into a system of control. In 2018. I made the best decision in my life to get that place. Everybody that I knew from before, they would have never expected that I would become a Christian. Not even myself though. I didn't believe in God. God believed in me. God believes in you too. He cares about you. He loves you. And he wants to be your best friend. If you just allow him.
