The Final Destination

I've traveled across the country speaking in conferences.

I see a couple of people here who were there.

But whenever I come to Advent Hope, it's always a highlight.

And this is the 1 that I prepare for the most because this is the audience that I look forward to speaking to the most because you're a special audience.

I think if there was 1 thing that God might, Jesus might have been wrong about, if there was ever something that he was wrong about, is that a prophet is never welcome in his hometown.

And this is an example where that may not be the case.

So I wanted to talk to you about many different topics this morning, but in preparation for this, God told me, no, that's not what I want you to talk about.

Don't think that I have a conversation with him.

But when I start to think about what I want to talk about, I have different things on my mind in terms of what I want to prepare for, and none of those things seem to go anywhere.

And this is the 1 topic that went somewhere.

And this is what I want to talk about this morning.

And when I talk about it, I want you to, and we're about to pray, but I want you to not think of me talking to you about this, but really the Holy Spirit using me, talking to you and myself.

Because I need to hear what I'm about to say this morning just as much as anybody else does.

Dear Heavenly Father, as we start this presentation, as we delve into your word, please have the Holy Spirit speak these words and have me sit back and listen as we delve into the most important conversation that we can have on the most important topic, and that is what we were raised up as a church for.

So this is a painting of Saint Charles Baromeo giving communion to the plague victims.

I'm attached to this painting for a couple of reasons.

Number 1, here's a guy, and I don't agree with transubstantiation.

I don't believe that the Catholic Church has a hold, obviously, on salvation, and that giving the communion is saving.

But here's a guy who's risking his life to carry out what his faith is.

He's going to the plague victims and giving them what he believes is going to save them, right?

So we have to at least give him credit for that.

I wish we would see more of that in our own lives.

Now I don't know if he's doing this and he's counting the amount of bread that he's giving out and hopefully that'll give him a little bit less time in purgatory.

But we don't know, does he actually have faith that this is actually working?

He's doing this because he believes it needs to be done?

Or is he doing this because he's hoping for merit points?

And you'll see that that's kind of the conversation that we're going to have this morning.

The most important conversation that we can have as Seventh-day Adventists is understanding righteousness by faith.

There's no other topic worth talking about, because if you look and see where we came off the track in 1888, it was over this issue.

And so if we're ever going to get home and we don't learn the lessons of righteousness by faith, we're never going to get there.

We're going to talk about that today in a number of different ways.

I would be lying to you if I told you that this was the only reason why I'm attached to this photograph because as it turns out it was painted by my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather Robert Schuelt the first as you can I don't know if you can see it there in 1749 and I would tell you that it's by the grace of God that 70 years ago, a coal porter came by my grandmother's house and shared with her the message of the 3 angels?

70 years ago, and she accepted that message, and she took studies by H.M.S.

And the Voice of Prophecy, and that is the reason why I stand before you today talking about righteousness by faith.

Revelation chapter 4, and after this I looked and behold the door was opened in heaven and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet calling with me which said come up hither and I will show thee things which much must be hereafter.

And immediately I was in the Spirit, and behold, the throne was set in heaven, and 1 sat before the throne, and he that sat was to look upon like Jasper and Sardinstone, and there was a rainbow around the throne in sight like unto an emerald.

And around about the throne there were 4 and 20 seats.

And upon these seats I saw 4 and 20 elders sitting clothed in white raiment.

They had on their heads crowns of gold, and out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices.

And there were 7 lamps of fire burning up before the throne, which are the 7 spirits of God.

And before the throne was like a sea of glass unlike unto crystal.

And in the midst of the throne, round about the throne, were 4 beasts full of eyes before and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast was like a calf.

And the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

And the 4 beasts each of them had 6 wings about him and they were full of eyes within and they rest day nor night saying, holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty which was and is and is to come.

And then those beasts that gave glory and honor to him thanks them that sat on the throne who liveth forever and ever.

And the 4 and the 20 elders fell down before him that sat on the throne and worshiped him that liveth forever and ever and cast their crowns before the throne saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power.

Come next week to the sing-along Messiah at the church, and you will sing these words as well in the Amen Chorus.

For thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

John saw this, this was something that was going to happen.

So this is happening after the crucifixion.

Let me suggest to you that the issues that were solved at the cross are not the issues that we're dealing with today.

When Jesus died on the cross, it was settled forever that Lucifer and his way is wrong.

It's because the issue of the universe, the 20 and 4 elders asking Jesus, you want to bring them up here?

We know that your law is right, but why would you want to bring those people up here?

That's the issue that we have today Great controversy page 758 not until the death of Christ was the character of Satan Clearly revealed to the angels or to the unfallen worlds.

The arch apostate had so clothed himself with deception that even the holy beings had not understood its principles.

They had not clearly seen the nature of his rebellion.

That is not the issue that we have today.

If you knew who those people were, you wouldn't be cavorting with them.

If you knew who those people were, you wouldn't let them be at your feet.

God could have destroyed Satan and his sympathizers as easily as 1 could cast a pebble to the earth.

Rebellion was not to be overcome by force.

Compelling power is found only under Satan's government.

The Lord's principles are not of this order.

His authority rests upon goodness, mercy, and love.

And the presentation of these principles is the means to be used.

God's government is moral and his truth and love are to be the prevailing power.

It was God's purpose to place things on an eternal basis of security.
