Dancing With the Fallen Stars

I used to come quite frequently, but lately I have been very caught up with my obligations as a youth pastor at the Riverside Korean Church.

So I've been missing you guys, but I'm glad that I can be here to share today.

It's kind of surreal to be up here because I was actually out there with you guys.

So please pray for me, as you can imagine how it must feel for me to be up here.

So the title of today's presentation is Dancing with the Fallen Stars.

And you're gonna see why I gave that particular title.

But before we start, I'd like to ask and invite you guys to pray with me.

Heavenly Father, Lord, we ask that you please be with us on this Sabbath morning as we are about to open your word.

And Lord, I ask that you please anoint my lips and allow your Spirit to speak through me.

And may those who hear these words, may they also apply to their lives and see where in their areas of their life they need also to change as well.

Lord, we thank you for what Jesus has done for us on the cross and how he set an example for us to follow.

May we be ever true to that as well as we are also called to reflect his character in our lives.

All right, so today's testimony is going to be a little mixture of my Testimony plus what I'm going to be sharing today, dealing with a particular topic that I think a lot of us struggle with.

And so I'm hoping that you guys will listen with an open mind and prayerfully search your heart to see which area in your life that God is probably calling you to actually find where you need reform in.

And Revelation chapter 12, we know that there's a war that breaks out in heaven.

We're looking at verse 7, which reads, and there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against a dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels.

And prevaileth not, neither was her place found anymore in heaven.

And the great dragon was cast out that old serpent called the devil and Satan which deceived the whole world He was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him So see we see here that There was a war that erupted in heaven between devil and his angels, and of course, they waged war against God.

Now, we see that the same war erupted in heaven and is still going on to this day.

So I'd like to just keep that story in mind as we turn to Proverbs.

If you guys could turn with me to Proverbs chapter 6.

And as you guys are turning there, I would like to throw a question at you.

Do you guys know that God has a hate list?

Okay, Proverbs chapter 6, that's kind of like a loving God, how can he hate, right?

But if you guys look at Proverbs chapter 6, and we're looking at verse 16, it says, these 6 things does the Lord hate.

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift and running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

But when we look at this list carefully, we can also see traces of the rebellion in heaven.

We can see it all started with Lucifer having a proud look.

And then after that, he started spreading lies about the character of God, right, and about his law.

And then you just go down the line, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that are swift to running to mischief.

He says, I run to and fro across the earth, right?

And a false witness that speaketh lies, who's the true witness?

And we see that 1 that sows discord among his brethren.

He sowed discord among his angelic brethren.

So we see the same avenue of how this finally erupted to all out war.

What's the first on the list that God hates the most?

And that's where it all starts, in the heart when you nurture pride.

And so, we're gonna take a look at Ezekiel.

It started in the heart of an angel, a perfect angel.

It says, thou's perfect in all thy ways till iniquity was found in thee.

If you look at 1 John 3, 4, it states that clearly, right?

Was there a commandment that says thou shall not be proud?

Okay, Let's take a look at Matthew chapter 22.

And we're looking at verse 36, Matthew 22, verse 36, which reads, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

On these 2 commandments hang all the law and the prophets." So we see here that the Commandments are to be kept by what motivation of the heart?

Love is the motivation of why we keep the commandments of God, right?

And Christ mentioned here clearly, he stated here clearly that you have to love the Lord your God with all your heart, right?

But what happened with Lucifer in his heart?

You guys know this verse very well, right?

How thou art fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning.

How art thou cut down to the ground which this weakened the nations for thou has said in thine what heart I will ascend into heaven I will exalt my throne above the stars of God I will all sit also upon the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north I will send above the heights of the clouds I will be like the most high." So what was happening is that the love that...

But something happened along the way where that love was displaced, and that love now was for self, right?

And that, I think, is something that we all grapple with as well.

In our hearts, we have this struggle, this battle between self and between Christ.

And that's something that I wanna share with you today.

There's a lot of stories talking about pride in the Bible.

Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden because the serpent appealed to Eve's pride, right?

You will be like God if you eat of this fruit.

We see that Saul, King Saul, His pride was stirred to jealousy and obsession to kill David when they heard that all the women singing, oh, Saul has killed his thousands, but David killed his 10, 000s.

Pride erupted in his heart and he was banished from the presence of God in a sense.

God did not respond to him when he prayed.

Hezekiah, pride also led to the downfall of Israel when he showed the Babylonian ambassadors all the splendor of his kingdom, right?

Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel chapter 4, he's depicted as this tree that gets cut down because he was lifted up because of his pride.
