Personal Relationships with Significant Others

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord, I thank you again for the blessing of being here, the blessing of Sabbath coming along.

What a wonderful time to know that we have to close the computers and quit working on our work on Sabbath.

I realized the other day, Father, that you had prescribed Sabbath to us, just like an athlete must have his rest days in between the workouts.

Without that Sabbath, Father, our muscles will not rebuild, and we will lose focus and lose the relationship that we have with you.

And now Father we thank you for the Word of God that you've given us.

We ask that you will send your Spirit to open our hearts and minds and once again I ask that you speak through me.

I'm gonna get into a little bit more on personal relationships with each other, with ones that you want to love and live a life with for the rest of your life maybe.

We're gonna slowly, slowly work through that.

I got it off a Steve Green CD years ago and it just made a great impact on me as a child.

Tell me what's going on in your mind as you listen to the words of that song What's the message It was it was was sort of related to a marriage circumstance where your eyes start wandering a little bit.

You look beyond the wife that God has given you, and boom, you're gone, that's it.

Some people would say that, well, men are very visual, and they're excited by what they see, but friends, I have found out in my line of work that women are just the same, my old line of work.

And so it's very easy to be derailed very quickly.

Now the second verse sort of gets away from that relationship and it starts talking about it in more general terms.

The human heart is easily swayed and often betrayed at the hand of emotion.

We get so caught up emotionally in relationships, and I'm going to make a statement here and I want you to take it to heart.

There is only 1 that you can trust that will never deceive you.

The Word of God is true, it's pure, it will not deceive you.

God's Counsel, God's wisdom is pure, it's clean, it's true, it will not deceive you.

Your feelings, your emotions, they will deceive you.

And some people walk around in the world thinking, well, it's not going to happen to me.

I've never been attracted to this, or I've never been attracted to that, or whatever.

We talked a little bit about this here last lecture.

I'm stronger than that person, or I'm stronger than this person.

We fight against principalities and powers and we are powerless.

We are powerless in our own strength to defeat the wicked 1.

It is only through the strength that Christ provides for us, through the Spirit of God, through our relationship with Him that we can overcome.

And when we start dabbling in things that we know we shouldn't be doing, but we're thinking we're strong enough to pull away from when the time is right to pull away, we're gonna get burned and we're gonna be lost.

Turn with me to 2nd Samuel, 2nd Samuel chapter 11, 2 Samuel chapter 11.

2 Samuel chapter 11, beginning at verse 1.

2 Samuel chapter 11 beginning at verse 1.

It says, And it came to pass after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel.

And they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah.

And it came to pass in an evening tide, that David arose from his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house, and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself.

And the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

And David sent and inquired after the woman, and 1 said, Is not this Bathsheba the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

And David sent messengers and took her and she came in unto him and he lay with her for she was purified from her uncleanness and she returned unto her house." Verse 5, and the woman conceived and sent and told David and said, I am with child.

And David sent the Joab saying, send me Uriah the Hittite.
