The Final Revival

This is the last part of our welcome series.

I just started not too long ago, and this is the last sermon in this kind of beginning series.

And so I'm excited to be able to share this morning.

All right, well, so to get started this morning, since we are finishing up this really long series, I want to do a quick review 1 more time.

Kind of think of this as your final exam, all right?

So question number 1, God wants to do what?

The key to that is living with purpose, right?

I heard someone say that living with purpose.

That means We need to have a clear Understanding what our mission is and a clear sense of vision For how we're going to accomplish that mission.

But not just any old mission or any old vision.

We want to move from addition to multiplication, from just bringing People in to actually sending people out into our community.

And to accomplish that, to raise up more workers, we need to have a whole new way of training.

You're all going to get an A plus today, right?

We need a whole new way of training a shift from teaching to training from information only to actually imparting Skills that transform a person's life and we've talked about all of these things.

I'm not going to do a big review Remember the training formula tell them why?

Show them how get them started keep them going right?

This is the process that we're going to use in our training teams.

We're going to study what the Bible says, go over exactly how to implement that specific Bible teaching.

We're going to give you objectives, assignments, so you can get started.

And then we're going to follow through, keep repeating it, repeating it, until we get these things built into our life.

And information changes our thinking, but skills changes our life.

These are all basic concepts, super important.

Sadly, they're not always well understood in a lot of churches, and we will come back to them many times in the future.

These are just core principles in my own personal thinking about the Christian life.

And we will explore them, of course, much more in our training teams.

The last 3 weeks, 123, we covered specific skills that I believe are critical.

They're not the only skills, but they're important because they're first of all, they're important.

But secondly, they're strangely neglected.

And those 3 skills were do you remember what they were was the first 1 Bible memorization, internalization of scripture.

Second, we talked about practical application of scripture, living it out in our daily experience.

And last week we talked about how to share our faith specifically through small groups, using those twin keys of love and unity that Jesus gave us.

That these are the 2 things that are gonna give you power and you're witness.

And so we wanna build those into our outreach strategy.

Anyway, there's a lot more we could say about those, and we will come back to them.

But the point is, these are strangely neglected skills in our churches.

I don't know why, but they are the things that God has commanded again and again and again.

And maybe that's why they're neglected, just because we just missed it somehow.

And there's so many promises connected with each of these skills.

And God wants to bless his church, but we gotta follow his plan, amen?

Finally, this last week, We're going to be looking at another important topic.

Hopefully we can build all of these ideas into our strategic plan as we move forward.

But before we get started, we want to do 1 more thing.

We're gonna invite the Holy Spirit to be here as we study this last topic.

Father in heaven, we're about to go into a difficult subject.

I pray that you would pour out the Holy Spirit here in our midst so that we could understand these things.

And I thank you and I pray these things in Jesus' name.

So most of us have attended prophecy seminars, we've gone to revelation studies, or we've done evangelistic series where someone would talk about all the prophecies and all the symbols, and we love studying those kinds of things, don't we?

I mean, we love studying about the Antichrist and the false prophet and all the beasts in Daniel 7, and of course, you got the 2 women in Revelation and the 2 witnesses, and you got the 7 seals and the 7 trumpets and the 7 churches and all those kinds of things.

But there's 1 prophecy in the book of Revelation that I don't think I've ever heard presented in a prophecy seminar.

But it seems like there's 1 prophecy that we just skip over all the time in our evangelistic meetings.

And yet in my mind, it's probably the most important promise in the book of Revelation.

In my mind, when I just skim through the chapters in Revelation, I'm thinking chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3.

When I skim through those chapters in my mind and what they talk about, my mind immediately goes to this 1 chapter.

It's like a mountain people, dwarfing all the other topics in the book of Revelation.

And I'm drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

And of course, I'm talking about Revelation 18, specifically verse 1.

Revelation 18, verse 1, the Bible says, And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having what?

Great power, and the earth was lightened with his glory.
