I was going back and forth with this title because the first 1 that I had put together was Jesus, the Christ's prayer and the prayer that matters the most.

So we want to talk about the shaking tonight and the prayer of Jesus.

I want to begin by having a word of prayer once more and then we'll jump right in.

Loving Father in heaven, we want to ask in a very special way that you give us wisdom, give us understanding, dear Lord.

We pray that you grant unto us the Helper, your Holy Spirit, to guide us into all truth.

And also, dear Lord, soften our hearts and give us a desire to love the truth, is our prayer in Jesus' name.

I want to start off by bringing up 1 of the, I guess Jesus had said multiple shocking things but this would have been quite shocking when he said it the first time especially if you understand the context in the which Jesus is speaking.

This is after the communion had been served.

Jesus and his disciples had worked together for quite some time and they're now getting closer and closer to the cross.

They're getting closer and closer to what everybody?

Jesus had told them that he was going to go to Jerusalem and there die.

And the disciples were arguing even after the Passover, after they drank the unfermented grape juice and after they ate the bread they were arguing about who is going to be the greatest in the kingdom.

They were concerned more about themselves than they were concerned about the Lamb of God which was going to be the sacrifice.

And Jesus wanted to turn their minds in a separate channel, different channel, and they could not realize or comprehend what He was saying.

And that meant friends that disaster was in their future because this would mean that if they didn't comprehend what Jesus was saying fairly soon they would be greatly disappointed and gravely disappointed I might add by the crucifixion.

But these disciples were in no way ready.

And Jesus wanted to help them understand.

And so he spoke these shocking words to Peter.

Now just imagine for a moment that you are Peter, that disciple of Jesus.

You've been working with him for a while and he says to you Simon Simon indeed Satan has asked for you imagine how those words would struck the mind of Peter wait a minute who's asking for who Satan is asking for me There are some people you don't want them to ask about you or for you.

Jesus says that he may sift you, as what everybody?

Not only is Satan asking for Peter, Satan also has plans for Peter.

So Jesus now reveals Satan's plans to Peter.

You are Peter, you're there looking into the eyes of Jesus, your Lord, and he tells you Satan is asking for you.

Now Peter would have known the Old Testament, the book of Job is 1 of the early books of the Bible.

In fact, most scholars agree that Moses was the 1 that wrote the book of Job.

And so Peter might have been familiar with the book of Job.

And immediately he thinks, wait a minute, Satan is asking for me.

Are you saying there Jesus that I'm enrolled in this great controversy where Satan is also making appeals to get to me?

And so for a moment He might have pondered, tried to figure it out, really wanted to understand, wait a minute, Jesus, what do you mean?

Jesus had told them earlier, But you are those, speaking to his disciples, this is in verse 28 to 30 of Luke chapter 22.

Jesus had told his disciples, but you are those who have continued with me in my, what everybody?

They've already experienced trials and they've already experienced some difficulties while following Jesus and now this conversation between Jesus and Peter but but Satan had asked for you Peter could have said Jesus wait a minute I've had enough trials why is he wanting to sift me more Jesus goes on and I bestow upon you a kingdom just as my father bestowed 1 upon me and that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the 12 tribes of the nation.

Jesus is speaking to his disciples in a very positive tone.

We're going to drink and eat together in the kingdom made new.

So Jesus is foreseeing the future, but in this ability, with his ability to foresee the future he also understood that Satan is going to do some shaking he's gonna shake you know when I was a child I had this really bad habit of pulling on things when I was a kid.

And I remember 1 time my mom had made some food and I shared this story before.

I was a baby just crawling around and Somehow made my way to the table and the tablecloth was hanging low and I grabbed on to that thing and pulled as hard As I could and everything came tumbling down Jesus is trying to tell Peter prepare yourself because if there's any loose thread in your character, Satan's going to be pulling on it.

Jesus was trying to prepare Peter to understand that Satan has some plans.

He's going to try to do some shaking of the disciples as they get closer and closer to God fulfilling His will, meaning Christ dying on Calvary's cross.

Jesus was trying to prepare Peter for what was ahead of Him, but the question is, will Peter pay attention to what the Lord is saying?

So, again, imagine Peter thinking back to the story of Job.

If you wanted to understand a bit of the great controversy, this is the place to begin.

Now you have to understand that Job did not have the privilege that Peter had.

Job did not know what was taking place in the heavens when Satan met with God.

But Jesus just revealed to Peter that same conversation.

In fact, Job experienced the results of the great controversy, but he did not understand what started it.

And throughout the entire book of Job we read, and Job never once heard from God.

He knew God, but he didn't hear Him speak.

Not until the end of the book do we find Job finally having dialogue with God?

He had a greater privilege and a greater honor and God was telling him look man the devil is asking about you.

So that was a great privilege to understand the great controversy from this standpoint.

Job chapter 1 verse 6, Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and who came among them?

And Satan also came among them and the Lord said to Satan, from where do you come?

And now just imagine Satan with a little smirk on his face, hey I'll tell you, I come from the place that I'm in charge of.

Satan answered the Lord and said, from going to and from the earth, and from walking back and forth in it, it's like, this is my spot, I know every single corner of the globe, I can walk through and through, and I can tell you all that's happening down there, and God, I imagine to be quite unhappy that now Satan is representing the planet he created because Adam somehow handed the thing over as a result of sin And I don't think God wants Satan to represent us.

And that's why he sent a new representative.

And the Lord, I just imagine him thinking for a second, hey look man, I have better people who could represent this planet than you.

And the Lord said to Satan, have you considered my servant Joel?

I have people down there that are faithful.

I have people down there that are faithful I have people down there that are prayerful I have people down there that are that are that are just just worshipful I have people down there who are who are still stuck on me Satan is trying to say no no there isn't anyone down there who's faithful the Lord said no have you considered my servant Joe there is none like it Now imagine God perusing the entire world and coming to this conclusion.

Nobody like, you know, nobody like nobody like Germaine.

There's not a single person on this planet, 7 point whatever billion, no 1 like him.
