Clash of the Gender Roles, Part 1: Men’s Roles in Dating and Marriage

Let me share with you what we'll be talking about today.

So the first session we'll be talking about, it's called, the presentation is entitled Class of the Gender Roles 1, Men's Roles in Dating and Marriage.

That's what we're looking at, Men's roles in dating and marriage.

And then the second 1, right after, we'll take a break, will be class of the gender roles 2 and women's roles in dating and marriage.

That's why it's good we have prayer and we surrender and we sing as much as we can.

We need a lot of God's grace when we talk about roles, especially in today's culture.

Now, I'm gonna share this not in a sense of only the roles.

I'm going to share in the context of righteousness by faith and in the context of the everlasting gospel, revealing God's love.

So in other words, gender roles reveals righteousness by faith.

That's what we're going to be studying so I want you to see that if we get a false concept we're gonna learn righteousness by works And so I want to know what is my fate and see God's love.

So we're going to see, I'm going to, in 2 weeks through this whole 2 presentations is God's love.

So I want you to see that this is not a legalistic way of having to do these roles.

And you see how legalism has actually turned people off from following the rules, and that's why there's been a reaction in the culture of the world and even in the church.

So I'm going to say a little bit about also what has happened and the trends of what's going on in the world today.

So but I want us to see that this has to do with not only our salvation, but everyone else's salvation out there.

So throughout my whole, my most of my life, I had no idea that men and women had different roles.

I just thought that men and women did whatever role they felt like doing when I was dating, right?

I thought, you know, this, and you know who was my mentors and my role models and what was the roles of men and women?

So here I go on a date and I'd be out with people, I mean out with a girl and I'd be like, you know, just reading the magazine what a 90's man was, you know, a 2000 person man was at the time and just kind of following the culture of that time.

And so I'll just go that role and kind of slip right into it.

And you know the man has been losing the role even more and more since especially the 1960s.

So I believe that the gospel of God's love for us is clearly revealed in the gender roles of men and women.

In fact, every time I follow God's gender roles for me, I'm reminded of God's love.

And that's how we should be looking at it.

So today, as we study from the Word of God what the specific roles of a man are, may we learn from the real man, Jesus Christ.

So would you please, will you kneel with me, please, for prayer as we pray?

Father, we know we're talking about difficult subjects, and only You can teach us and be our true teacher.

And so, Lord, I pray that my temple be clear so your love can flow out through me to your people.

I pray that you may help everyone here to be open to hear the message that you'd want them to hear.

So we thank you, Lord, for already answering our prayers in Jesus name, Amen.

Okay, turn me to Ephesians chapter 5 verse 22.

We're going to be studying 4 principles of what it makes a real man.

Because there's not really real men out there, hardly.

And ladies, these are the 4 principles you look for in a real man, right?

You don't want to be caught with a guy who doesn't follow these principles.

You're not going to be happy in your marriage.

What are the roles between a husband and a wife?

Submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord, right?

For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church and he is the Savior of the body.

Therefore, as Christ is subject unto Christ, so let the wise be to their own husbands in how many things?

So, wiser to submit themselves unto the husband.

You see the husband is the head of the wife, right?

Just as Christ is the head of the church.

In other words, the role of a husband is to be the leader of the home.

Now, the Bible also says that, wise are to submit to the husbands and everything unto the Lord.

Now, does that mean that wise submit to, whatever the husbands say, the wise are to submit no matter what.

Wives are to submit to the husband, what's the next few words?

In other words, if there's anything out there that the husband or the boyfriend says to you, you know, could you do this for me?

But if there's anything that he asks you to do that goes contrary to what the Lord says in his word, then are you to do it or not do it?

What if you're married to your husband, and then you get a phone call.

The phone rings, and you answer it, and it's for your husband.

And your husband says to you, tell them I'm not home.

Tell him that you're, my husband is telling me right now to tell you that he's not home.

In other words, don't lie because it breaks God's 10 Commandments, right?

But that may not be the tactful way for your marriage situation, right?

So the most tactful way to say is, he's not available at this time, right?

Have you ever, anyone ever seen that happen?

Okay, so you see how just because men are the head of the home, that does not give them full authority to make you even do things that actually go against contrary to God's Word.
