In the Mean Time

Our Father in Heaven, we bow before you, dear God, because we have nowhere else to go to get help.

We come because you have invited us to come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

And so, Father, stand by your word and help us.

Grant to us cleansing of our souls, forgiveness of sin, because sin creates a static that makes it difficult for us to comprehend even the simple things of the word.

My desire is to glorify you through the word and that glorifying you may lead to a blessing for your people.

Protect those who are coming there father because the devil is busy.

He never slumbers nor sleeps in his effort to destroy people before they've had a chance to receive the life-giving word so bring them safely.

Father put your words in my mouth because my words can't help anyone but yours can and when this service is over let us leave knowing that we have been blessed by you.

Thank you dear God for the tremendous privilege of preaching.

Genesis chapter 2 reading from verse 7 and we read from the King James Version of the Bible and our theme for this revival is living his life.

Genesis 2 verse 7 the Bible says and the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

That's a divine law by which he functions.

Let's read Hebrews chapter 1 verse 3, speaking of Christ the Bible says, who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person and upholding all things by the word of his power.

The very word that creates is the word that upholds, maintains, preserves.

For this they willingly are ignorant of that by the Word of God the heavens were of old.

The verse says by the Word of God they were created.

Verse 7 and the heavens of the earth which are now by that same word are kept in store and so the word that creates is the word that sustains expressed differently the person who creates must be the person who maintains and so as Jesus identified by the Bible as the creator.

He is also identified as the preserver or the sustainer of what he creates.

That's a divine principle by which God functions.

Now that applies not only at the physical level, it applies at the spiritual level.

If any man be in Christ, he's a new creature, but the better translation is he's a new creation.

In other words, what Christ creates spiritually, salvation, he must preserve because what he creates, he maintains.

Ah, you missed it, and you're not arguing with me, so you missed it.

Let me say it again, a lot of people are afraid to give their lives to God for fear they will lose this or lose that or the quality of their lives will plummet.

Listen to me, salvation is a work of creation.

What God creates he is morally bound to preserve.

So never hesitate to give your life to God if he transforms your life and he will he will preserve that which he creates.

And so the Bible says in Genesis 2 verse 7 and the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.

Question now, how was that life to be preserved, to be maintained.

Let's go to verse 8 as we continue with our subject in the meantime.

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden and there he put the man whom he had formed.

So God made the man, then God made a home.

Verse 9, and out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that's pleasant to the sight and good for food.

By the way, those of you who cook, here's a biblical principle that must enter into your kitchen.

What you cook must not only be good, it must look good.

And out of the ground may the Lord God to grow every tree that's first if it doesn't look good I'm not coming to it if you offer me a bowl of something that looks like mud and you tell me it's good for whatever Have you ever seen how cigarettes are packaged?

Not in a black and white box with skull and crossbones on the outside.

The devil uses God's techniques and he prospers because God's techniques work and so when you cook, prepare it in such a way that the very visual will begin this work of in the stomach.

For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods knowing good and evil.

He packages sin the way manufacturers package cigarettes.

Those of you who fly and you read the books in the seat pocket in front of you, you notice they sell things on the plane.

Have you ever looked at the bottles of alcohol at the back of those magazines?

Loss of job, family abuse, alcohol, loss of mental control, just, but beautifully packaged.

Now, and out of the ground, may the Lord God to grow every tree that's pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil and so God made the man, God made a home and God gave him a source of food.

Now 1 of the trees was the tree of life identified in verse 9 of Genesis 2.

And it was God's arrangement that someone who is immortal must eat.

If he had passed that simple test he would have lived forever.

God would have sealed him in his obedience.

But that immortal life had would have been preserved maintained how by continual consumption of the tree of life How can I say it so that you look as though you're understanding me?

You still look politely bemused and befuddled and bamboozled.

No living being, man or animal, can live disconnected from God.

So in that sense, immortal life is conditional upon continual attachment, a connection to God because according to Psalm 36 9 with thee is the fountain of life disconnected from God, life ceases.

Whether immediately or eventually, life ceases.

Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, page 61, paragraph 2.

Elowite writes these words, God is the fountain of life and we can have life only as we are in communion with him.

Separated from God, existence may be ours for a little time but we do not possess life.

The law was naturally in his heart and God arranged that that life would be preserved by constant consumption of the fruit and the leaves of the tree of life.

So Adam had access to that tree, that was by God's arrangement.

Patriarchs and prophets page 49 paragraph 2 we read these eye-opening words, obedience perfect and perpetual was the condition of eternal happiness.

On this condition they were to have access to the tree of life.

Obedience perfect and perpetual was the condition of access to the tree of life and we see the veracity of the truthfulness of that statement because when Adam disobeyed he was barred from access to the tree of life and he was driven out.

And so in verse 22 of Genesis 3 the Bible says, And the Lord God said, Behold the man is become like 1 of us to no good and evil.

And now lest he put forth his hand and take also the tree of life and eat and live forever.

Now that verse tells us clearly it was not God's intention that a sinner should live forever.

And now lest he put forth his hand and take and eat also of the tree of life and live forever.
