NEWSTART and the Mind

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this day, this holy day, and we thank you for the blessings that you've been pouring upon us.

We Thank you for your holy word and your holy presence.

And Father, we ask that your presence continue to be with us throughout this day.

Help us to glorify you in all that we do.

And everything that we learn, Lord, help us to share it with others and to glorify you by sharing and loving others.

So this presentation is about new start and the mind.

Also the body, but this is just pertaining to addictions and stress and all these things we've been talking about out today.

God can change someone's life in an instant, right?

We see over and over in the Bible, God, Jesus healing people.

But There's some people that think we don't have to do anything.

We can just sit back, pray, and God will take care of everything.

But there's a verse in the Bible that says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

So there is something that we need to do as Christians, as his servants.

And our bodies are called the temple of God, right?

And he calls us to glorify him with our bodies and our spirit.

So we have many instances of God healing people instantly, but we also have instances where He uses remedies and methods to heal a person?

You see Jesus going to the blind man, telling him, putting money in his eyes, go to the river and wash it.

Do you think Jesus could have just healed him by touching him or saying, you can see now.

But there's some things Jesus asks us to do that helps us to become stronger, to be an example to others so that we can glorify him and say that He gave me the strength to do this.

Rather than just saying, you know, if you pray and you do this, He'll take care of every single problem without no worries.

But at the same time, you know, we are saved through grace, you know, by faith.

And so this presentation just shows us some things that we can do at the same time while trusting in God with all our hearts to be a witness.

I want to start with the story of Daniel and Daniel and his 3 friends.

Daniel and his 3 friends were taken captive from Jerusalem as King Nebuchadnezzar besieged Jerusalem.

And this is 1 of the oldest clinical trials in history.

For boys, out of how many other men, there's a test that was done in this chapter.

And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat and of the wine which he drank, so nourishing them 3 years, that at the end of thereof they might stand before the king." So here's a test.

I'm going to give you the foods that I eat, you're going to drink what I drink, my delicacies, and we're going to test you at the end of the 3 years.

He was trying to build an army and just get some new soldiers.

He took some of the Hebrews, he took some of his people, the Chaldeans, and they were to learn the language, to learn the culture, and to learn all these things.

So we see these 4 boys, and let's go to verse 8.

Verse 8, but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat nor with the wine which he drank.

Therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

He was raised to glorify God and he knew that those foods weren't good for him.

And that word purpose in verse 8 means to give.

Because he didn't want to defile his body.

Verse 12, it says, prove thy servants I beseech thee 10 days and let them give us pulse to eat and water to drink.

Pulse is translated as vegetables, as good food, real food.

So vegetables and water, he asked the eunuch, the prince of the eunuch.

What do you think the prince of the eunuch was thinking when they said that to him?

How are you going to be strong when it's time for war or be smart and to be trained alongside the king's men eating these kinds of food.

At the same time, I'm sure the Prince of the Union was scared of being killed by the king.

Or Daniel could have been killed as well.

At the end of the 10 days, verse 15, At the end of the 10 days, verse 15, at the end of the 10 days, their countenance appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

So they ate that, in 10 days they were already looking better than everybody else.

And they were taking from their land, you know, and you can probably imagine when they first came to that kingdom, they were skinny and starving and all these things.

And so the king said, give them my meat, give them my drink and fatten them up, you know, make them strong.

And they said, no, we'll just take some vegetables and water.

And then, just at the end of 10 days, you could already see the results.

At the end of, in verse 17, it says, as these 4 children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom.

And Daniel had understanding of visions and dreams.

Verse 18, Verse 18, it says, Now at the end of the days, the years, the 3 years, that the king had said he should bring them in, and the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

King communed with them and among them all was found none like Daniel and his friends.

Verse 20, in all matters of wisdom and understanding, the king inquired of them.

10 times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all the realm.

And Daniel continued to the reign of Cyrus.

So this is the brain of the magician astrologers.

10 times smarter and see the visions and all that, understanding, God gave them wisdom.

So you eat the king's meat and drink his wine, your brain will be like that.

But you eat the vegetables and water, you have a bigger brain like that.

Throughout the whole book of Daniel, Daniel continues to go through trials.

His friends are put into a fiery furnace.

Now it's important to look at the first chapter of the book before you go to all the other books.

This in this first chapter, Daniel and his friends show their faith in God, not just spiritually, but physically tells them, I'm going to stick to the diet we've been given.

God has told us what is clean and unclean, what we should do with our bodies, and how we should glorify Him.

But at the same time, it strengthened them to endure these trials that God had ahead of them in the rest of the book of Daniel.

And so you can see everything with this book, it started off with diet.

Just as in Genesis, we fell over sin, first sin, over appetite.
