Today’s Pain Relievers, Sinful Habits, and Addictions

And I come all the way actually from Hawaii And I'd like to give you a warm Aloha.

You know I've been thinking about this weekend and what to share.

And the messages that have been coming back to me have always been the healing messes of medical missionary work.

But the thought that came back to me that keeps been an impressive part of my mind over and over and over is that 9 tenths of illnesses begin in the what?

So there are negative emotions that many of us live with and that we've grown up with of depression and sadness, bitterness, unforgiveness.

I mean all of these things have really affected us in our lives.

So I'm going to be focusing a lot on that and our relationship with 1 another and how it affects our oneness with 1 another and also with God.

You're seeing a handout being handed out.

I'm gonna be referring to this handout throughout the morning worship this morning presentation.

Today's presentation is entitled, Today's Pain Relievers Sinful Habits and Addictions.

Today's Pain Relievers Sinful Habits and addictions.

I invite you to turn me in your Bibles to Genesis chapter 1 verse 27.

We're gonna stay in Genesis for the opening text.

Can you please turn me in your Bible to Genesis chapter 1 Verse 27 for opening text.

Father, We need you this morning, and I know that I need you.

May I see my nothingness and rely wholly upon your merits as my savior.

Lord, may it be your words, and may we see the message, Lord.

May you hide me behind the cross, And may we be open to your word is our prayer in Jesus' name, amen.

For Not only have we all wounded others through our sins toward them, but also we have been wounded by the sins of others and how they sin against us.

And so the medical missionary message that God is calling us, that He wants us to go out and heal a world that has been wounded through the sins of others.

But not only that, we cannot give that which we do not possess.

So therefore, God wants you and I, as God's remnant people in the last days to first experience the healing of the mind the emotional healing of our minds first and when we have experienced that healing then and only then are we able to go out and heal a love-starved world What do you say?

So he's called you this morning and he wants you to see our need first of all now a Lot of Christians are in pain today many Seventh-day Adventists they either suppress it they ignore it or they deny it.

But you may ask yourself, well how do I know I have pain?

I'm gonna be focused on that this whole weekend and all for my presentations.

How do you know that you still have it in your life?

You see, when people have bodily pain, what they normally take is some type of pain reliever, right?

And they take some kind of pain reliever to ease the pain.

And the same thing in the spiritual realm.

When people have been hurt or wounded by others, either in their childhood, in growing up in their home or even in a recent wound by others in the workplace or in the school or even in the church.

When they have received that pain, what people normally do is that in the spiritual realm, they take a pain reliever, a narcotic, and I call it behavior narcotics.

It can come in the form of food addictions.

It can come in a form of shopping addictions.

It can come in a form of even entertainment addictions.

You see many Christians today turn to sinful habits as emotional vacations away from the pain.

But the problem is that when they come back from the vacation, you know, how many of you actually been to Hawaii?

How many of you guys would want to go to Hawaii?

The sad thing I always hear when people come and visit Hawaii is that when they go back, they always say, man, I gotta go back to what?

And I think the same thing happens in the spiritual realm when we have spiritual pain and we've been wounded What we want to do is we get our fixes, but we realize that it's only temporary.

We know we have to go back to reality And can thus come down The pain is still there when we come back.

I went back to my home church where my mom was and I spoke a message on healing and as I spoke at the end I made an altar call for healing.

That I come down and we could follow James chapter 5 and pray for the healing of the sick, right?

But you know that's talking about spiritual healing because it says in that same chapter that if any has committed sins against you, right?

Have committed any sins, let it be forgiven him.

In other words, it's talking about sins or spiritual healing in that context, not just physical.

So I say, okay, you want to have healing, come down and we can bring our petitions before the great physician Jesus Christ.

And so I had my anointing oil and I was anointing the oil and I made it appeal and my mom came forward.

My sister who doesn't go to church, she came to church to hear me speak and she came forward for healing.

We prayed and anointed, she opened her heart to her son And God healed her.

Anyways, I posted on Facebook a comment of my mom came forward and she experienced healing.

And someone I didn't even know messaged me.

I'm gonna read you her message on Facebook.

She said to me, I too wish for healing for myself.

I've been suffering from the negative effects of my past for far too long.

My mother beat us on a regular basis, mentally and verbally abused us, and was a heavy drinker.

Until today, she denies ever doing anything.

But I still suffer from extreme anxiety, mainly due to insecurities, because I'm never good enough for her.

But I know that I'm good enough for me and my family.

I promised myself not to be an abuser, but I broke that pattern the day I had my first child and my abuse still continued.

I cannot help but relate to your mom as my own happiness is still in a cocoon stage and preventing me from becoming the best I can become.

I know it hinders my ability to become the best mom.

I wish I could just start living a peaceful life.

If you could, please send me some information.

Beloved, there is a hunger out there for healing.

People are longing, hungering for that, but we cannot give it, beloved, unless we first experience it ourselves through the healing power of God's love.

I want that healing power of God's love this morning.

This morning in Genesis chapter 1 verse 27 we're gonna look at a story of Adam and Eve.
