Welcome to the seminar on Distinct Advent Message.

The subtitle is The Sanctuary 1844 and Beyond.

Have you ever been to a seminar that's 2 hours and 15 minutes long before?

I have not either, so this is going to be very interesting, outside of the university.

And I don't want us to be a university-like feel, but I'm afraid it's going to be because we're in that kind of format.

But if you have any questions, please by all means ask and we can talk about it.

Before we start, I'm gonna ask you, come on in.

Come on in, you're late, but we still love you.

This presentation is not for the beginner Seventh-day Adventists.

I'm going to make a lot of assumptions that you know something, but this is not for advanced people either.

We're going to look at a little bit of Greek and a little bit of Hebrew, but not too much.

And It's all in English, so don't worry, okay?

Other than that, I think we can have a word of prayer, and we'll get started for today.

Any questions, any concerns, or any insults that you have before we get started?

Gracious and merciful Father, Father, we thank you that in this place of the world where your Spirit worked mightily in history, That we as Seventh-day Adventists can come together again, and we ask that the word Illuminate our minds and our hearts once again Father We approach scripture with humility and Father if there be anything in us that's arrogant, proud, anything that offends heaven, we ask that the blood of Jesus cover us all.

Lord, we are in awe of you and Lord manifest your awe to us today.

The topic of the sanctuary is something that I'm very, very, very, very excited about.

I'm so passionate, and I get so emotionally enthusiastic that I'm told that in Europe it's not appropriate to be too emotional so I'm trying to be not emotional at all okay and so I'm trying to be more Korean more Asian because Asians in Europe is it oriental and in England it's oriental yeah in America it's Asian.

People thought that I was Indian or Pakistani.

Anyway, I'm trying just to be calm, but if I'm not, please forgive me.

The doctrine of the sanctuary is the 1 unique belief of Seventh-day Adventists.

Sabbath, are there other denominations who believe in the Seventh-day Sabbath?

Health message, are there other organizations and denominations who are often healthier than Seventh-day Adventists?

Are there other denominations that believe in the same state of death as we do?

So the 1 unique thing about Seventh-day Adventists is the sanctuary message.

And What happens is, sometimes, and I believe as young people, when my friend and I started GYC, we wanted to get into deep Bible study, okay?

Not deep into weird calculations and calculating who is, you know, oh, it's Prince Charles is the new Antichrist and Jesus is coming in 2014 of May.

And not these weird things, but get into real scripture.

And what we were frustrated with was the general mood in the church that if you're young, you are incapable of understanding some of these things.

You need a master's degree or a PhD or a THD or a DDDD, whatever, and then you will understand some of these things, but it's amazing that the Seventh-day Adventist Church was started by young people who were studying these things.

Okay, so the challenge was, can we today in 2012, are we also competent enough?

Are we in tune with Jesus enough to understand some of these things?

And I want to say the majority of young people are not.

Because we're technologically abused, our minds are abused, or we're phased by entertainment.

So today, I'm asking you, that if by our first hour, or the first 45 minutes, or by 1.5 hours, that your mind starts to get fuzzy.

Or you start saying this is getting boring.

Or I wonder what other seminars are there, or what time is it?

Resist the urge and say, I will, I want to focus, I want to digest this for myself.

Okay, the uniqueness of the Sanctuary Doctrine in Exodus chapter 25, verse 8 and 9.

The purpose of the Old Testament, a lot of the weird and obscure stuff is very, very important.

And I believe, as Seventh-day Adventists, the 1 book that we all must understand is the book of which book?

But in order to understand Revelation, we need to understand the book of...

So in order to understand Revelation, you need to understand the rest of the...

And so might as well understand the entire...

I'm not saying the book of Revelation is a joke.

The Everlasting Gospel: The Good News Amidst the Judgement, Babylon, and the Mark of the Beast- Part 2

Sorry about that, I'm apologizing on his behalf for being late.

So in the dark ages, there was a time to come out of confusion.

The days just before Jesus comes, there will be a call to come out of confusion into the light of God's truth.

The third angel's message, very quickly, the third angel's message ends with those who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus.

In every Christian generation, there have always been those who have kept the commandments of God and had the faith of Jesus.

So there are aspects of all 3 angels that have always been relevant for God's people in every generation.

Now having said that, put that to 1 side, I've done that job, let's move on, okay?

So the 3 main aims of this seminar is to explore the 3 angels' message in relation to the everlasting gospel.

We're just going to explore the 3 angels and connect it to the everlasting gospel in the first angel.

Secondly, to show how each message has been integral to the gospel in every age.

And then to see the love of God shining through in each message.

It is a powerful Testimony to the love of God in the 3 angels message.

It speaks of God's love The everlasting gospel has to speak of God's love So even the judgment has to speak of God's love.

It's all about the love of God and I'm going to try and show you this shining through because there are so many Adventist teenagers scared of the judgment.

They don't understand it, they're just scared of it.

They think that at some point after 1844, and I'm presuming you know, right?

After 1844, their name is going to come up in heaven and God is going to make a decision right there at that time and if they're Not right there lost no matter what they do many Adventist kids think that think that way And they're scared of it and they have this picture of God that is some kind of big ogre in the sky, some kind of judge, and he's going to come bring the hammer down, crack, you're guilty, you're not guilty, you're saved, you're lost, and have this false image of God.

So we're going to explore this to try and put that idea to bed.

Very quickly, a brief outline of the book of Revelation.

Very quickly, before chapter 14, we have 3 major sevens.

This hasn't clicked on to presenter view.

It normally just automatically clicks into presenter mode.

We don't really need technology because here I have my notes, okay?

But it's nice when it works, so praise the Lord.

So then after chapter 14, let's continue.

After chapter 14, we have the 7 plagues, another 3 sets of sevens.

We have 7 plagues, the 7 vials, and the 7 heads.

After 14, we have another set of 3 sevens.

Now before 14, the 3 sevens are generally negative.

The message to the church of Laodicea, is it positive or negative?

The 4 horsemen and the 7 seals, is that positive or negative?

All right, so the sevens are generally negative Before chapter 14, they are kind of negative towards God's people.

All right After chapter 14, we have the 7 plagues, the 7 vials, and the 7 heads.

But they are generally negative towards God's enemies.

So the sevens are negative, but half towards God's church, and half towards God's enemy.

So before chapter 14, there's a lot of persecution.

The dragon, the beast, and the false prophet is going after God's people.

Before chapter 14, persecution is a theme running through those 13 chapters.

But then along comes chapter 14, and then after chapter 14, it's good news for God's people.

So from chapter 15 onwards, it's good news for God's people, and God is going after the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.

So it's bad news for the dragon after chapter 14.

It's bad news for the beast and it's bad news for the false prophet.

So something happens in chapter 14 that actually impacts on great controversy history.

Something happens in chapter 14 that changes the dynamics of the war, all right?

And you and I are involved with this in some way, shape, or form, whatever happens in chapter 14.

So I'm going to share some principles of Bible interpretation, and you can use them in your own personal study.

For example, principle number 1, I'm just calling it principle number 1.

There are many principles of Bible interpretation, but For these seminars, this is number 1.

Look for subjects that keep repeating themselves.

We have a saying in English, repetition strengthens the impression.

Okay, when God is repeating himself, he wants you to get something.

A Vision of God: Who is God, Really?

I don't know if you are listening well or this is the only microphone I was provided for the recording, but it's all right for you?

Well I hope they will provide a microphone for the second part.

I was born in a little country called Uruguay.

The first gift they give you when you are born is a football, you know?

I used to play in First Division in those days when the world was young.

I live in Brazil, live in so many countries.

And then I saw English is not my first language, is not my second language, is my third language.

So I speak mostly Spanish, then Portuguese, and then English, and a little bit of French.

Let me tell you a little bit before I go to the subject, I hope you won't feel disappointed because in the program it says right there, how to know God, how to present God to another people.

So today I want to shift a little bit the focus on that.

I want to mention something about God, but I want to give you some tools, some materials for you to share Jesus to other people.

And I have something for you, I want to give you something today.

He received the book, The Sign of Ages, only 25 years after it was written in Australia.

That book reached my grandparents' home, and then they accepted Jesus.

And then, of course, my parents and we grew up in an Adventist home.

But when I went to, I felt a call to serve the Lord very early in my life, but then I went to journalism.

After several years, I decided to go to theology.

I was studying theology, and then I felt a great temptation to go back to football.

We moved to Venezuela where they were starting the football in those days.

They only knew baseball and other sports.

So during the summertime I was supposed to call Porter to sell books for my tuition, but I play football because they pay much better.

In the fourth year of theology, I said I want to quit theology.

But at the same time, I want to be a good Adventist.

So can you imagine what happened in those games on Sabbath afternoon?

I was ready with my attire, ready to jump into the car.

The sun was so low, but I want to keep the Sabbath because I want to be a good Adventist.

As soon as the sun went down behind the tallest building, I said, oh, the sun, it's sunset now, it's my time.

I run, but when I was driving, the sun appears before me.

So I arrive late to 1 game, and the coach says, what are you doing here?

You're supposed to be from the beginning of the game.

Please get in." So I got in without warming up.

Then muscle strain, bad surgery, And God has other plans for me.

I was in bad surgery, and they cut by mistake my sciatic nerve right here, where the divide.

I was angry against God, against everybody, the doctors.

When I look back, I say, Lord, thank you.

Sometimes God has to remove, to break down, to tear down our plans in order for His plans to accomplish in our lives.

But when I look back, I say, Lord, thank you.

You allow me to preach, to go around the world, to share the good news about salvation.

I don't know if they're going to play football in heaven.

If our eyes were open today, we would see angels right here in this place.

You know, Later on, after pastoring several churches, I worked 2 years in South America, then I went to the U.S.

The last 33 years I've been living in the U.S.

They asked me to help out with It Is Written in Spanish.

We are reaching right now 11, 000, more than 11, 000 channels around the world, millions of people every week listening to the message.

And a year and a half ago, they invited me to serve in the general conference to coordinate the evangelism for the world church.

And let me tell you something, evangelism is addictive.

I've been conducting evangelistic series in the last 12 years, 20, 25 every year, and this year is not the exception.

Next 1 will be Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S., then Romania, then Rome, many other places.

And let me tell you, for you not to get disappointed about the subject, the program says something very interesting that I will… It says everything right here.

Daniel and Adventist Identity

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the opportunity to be here together, gathered to deal with your Word.

We thank you for the wonderful messages we have heard at this Congress.

And we ask you to be with us this afternoon, so that we discover that your word can tell us, again and again, what your will is for our life.

Let each 1 experience your presence in his or her life.

And help us Lord to live life at its best as you have planned it for us, and not only a little bit from the life.

Be with us, lead us with your Holy Spirit, and we thank you in Jesus' name.

So this afternoon we will have a look, a specific look on the book of Daniel.

Of course, I mean, if you would like to know what the dreams, the explanation for the dreams, then you can look up in, even in the internet, because there are some websites where things I explained for you.

So I will not deal with the basic things that are in Daniel.

I would like rather to have maybe another perspective on the book of Daniel.

And I will explain you in a few moments why I use this approach for this afternoon and what are the points, the focus points for this afternoon.

But before starting, I would like to share with you an experience I had in 1 of our churches.

I was traveling in another country and...

So for those who came later, there's a German translation.

For those who came later, there's a German translation in the last rows.

So I was traveling in another country and usually on Sabbath I'm preaching in churches and at noon I was invited by an Adventist family for lunch.

And there we were, we sat, there were quite a number of invitees, we were more people together, we discussed, and during our discussion, at a certain point, the sister who invited us to her family, she said, Brother Maurer, I need to confess something.

And I said, well, we are not in the Catholic Church.

But well, if you want to tell me something that's fine.

She said look I'm working as a dentist assistant and She says I've been in working with this dentist for the last 20 years He's a very correct person works very good people are very satisfied with his work, and I try to help and to support as good as it's possible, and I have a very good relationship with the patients and we are we have an excellent working atmosphere and then she said brother Maurer last week he found out that I'm an Adventist after 20 years and she said, he went so angry with me.

He said, I always have seen that you are a special person, that you are so kind, you spread something of an inner peace that does good.

And I always have asked myself, how, where does this woman take her power, her strength to be a person like this?

And I cannot forgive you that for 20 years you have hidden this from me and you didn't tell me who you are and why you are what you are.

But in the meantime, looking a little bit closer on different histories, life histories, I discovered that this is not only a single case.

I can tell you from my personal experience of people whom I know that this happens again and again and again.

So my question is What is Adventist identity?

Is it just being in the list of the members?

Does it mean to be 2 hours a week an Adventist and then to be like any other person?

Also from my travels, I was traveling in another country, and then After 1 of my sermons about the Sabbath, 1 brother came to me and said, brother Maurer, I would like to share an experience with you.

Maybe you are interested and maybe it helps you for some illustrations.

And he said, look, I came to this country as an immigrant.

And I was looking for work, but I arrived in a moment where unemployment went up and employment opportunities went down.

Well, where to find something to work because I have no money and I mean I need to survive.

So somebody from the church told me, look, come with me.

I heard that our boss has 1 place because somebody left, so maybe you get this job.

So he went for an interview and went in, and the owner of the company, he asked him because it was, well, not such a big company, but a building company.

And the owner, he interviewed him and asked him questions and said, well, it seems that you are qualified, so you can start working here next Monday.

And he said, our brother said to him, well, this is very kind of you, but I still have 1 more question before I can decide if I accept the job or not.
