Partnering With God- Part 1

Dearly Father, thank you so much for this opportunity to study your word.

I pray that you, your Holy Spirit, will be here with us and Open our hearts and minds to receive your word in Jesus' name.

It was last Christmas day, December 25, 2013.

We went to, Our family and I decided to go to Northern California for vacation.

And so, our plane landed in San Francisco at 11 o'clock.

And we had a lunch engagement at 1 o'clock.

So, you know, 2 hours, renting a car, and going there.

And that rental car was actually about 5 miles from the airport, called Payless.

When I got there, it was almost 12 o'clock.

And it was, people were actually coming out of the, coming, I mean the line was so long for the rental car.

People were actually, the line was outside the rental car center.

You know how long it takes to rent a car, per 1?

And when I looked inside, there was only 1 person who was trying to do all the transaction.

And funny thing was, when I saw the parking lot, there were no cars.

And talking to this, the man at the counter, very, very upset.

Said, I had my reservation, where is the car?

And this man said, sir, I told you we ran out of cars.

We're trying to get cars from other airports, San Jose and Oakland.

And it may take an hour, maybe it may take 2 hours.

And so we called the person that we're going to go eat with and said, I don't think we're going to make it by 1.

We may be much longer wait than you want to.

I'm just sitting there, standing there, very frustrated.

So we're trying to look for other rental car places, but they all rent out a car too.

What I found out later on was that December 25 is its busiest day to rent a car.

I thought they would be quiet, but actually December 25th.

If you're to rent a car, do not rent a car on December 25th, okay?

He had flown from Korea, landed in San Francisco.

1 was a daughter, the other was a son, and they were going to UC Berkeley.

And He was yelling at him and said, I have to go, I've been waiting here for 2 hours, I have my reservation.

And then, the next person goes, he said, I'm from Norway.

We've been waiting, I mean, 1 by 1, they're just beating this guy up with their words.

And I was not very happy, But I, it was my turn.

So I went, I went to him and it was my turn to say some angry words.

And at that time, Holy Spirit spoke to me.

He said, you need to have a better attitude.

And so, all these people are just talking and they're all upset in this room.

I said, you're having a pretty bad day, aren't you?

Would you rather be here or with your family?

I mean, this is a Christmas day after all.

So there's nothing you can do about this, right?

You're just working here, and you're doing the best that you can.

Dear Heavenly Father, please be with this man.

And I asked that you give him peace, and also help this problem to be resolved, so everybody can get a car.

As I looked at him afterwards, and he was just beaming, I saw peace on his face.

And that room, right after prayer, became absolutely silent.

Partnering With God- Part 2

Let's pray 1 more time for the Holy Spirit to be here with us.

Heavenly Father, I pray that you be with us once again and help us to know what is our most important work in this world is.

I went to high school in San Jose, California called Independence High School.

It was established in 1976, 200 years after the first Independence Day.

So that's why it's called Independence High School.

At that time, that school was the largest high school in the United States.

And it had its own football stadium with seating capacity of probably about 10, 000 people.

They also had 3 gymnasiums, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and tennis courts, they were almost professional.

He was considered probably the hardest, and at the same time, the best teacher.

And As he was teaching, he taught about different religions and also he really belittled Christianity and the existence of God.

So day after day, he'll say something negative about God.

There's no purpose in this life, except to live, live it up, and then 1 day you die.

You know, I got kind of fed up with his constant talks and there were about 60 of my classmates listening to this every single day.

So 1 day I said, I raised my hand, I said, Mr.

I've been listening to you for this whole semester.

I agree with you on a lot of things, But the 1 thing I disagree is about your view of evolution.

I believe that this world was created by God in 7 literal days.

And you know, I started giving him some more, what I thought at that time.

You know, I'm in high school, And as much as I could, I tried to share with him what I knew about creation and also about God.

And he said, that you don't make any sense.

And he just started making fun of me, and all my classmates started laughing.

I said, God, why in the world did I even talk?

You know, Does everyone that you speak to and share Christ convert and instantly become an Adventist?

Anyway, so I stopped talking, and that was the end of that.

And you know, because my father always told me, my father's a minister.

He always said, whatever you know about God and Christ, share with everybody.

All the kids, my brothers and sister, said, share Christ with everybody that you come in contact with.

So here I was trying to do something like this, I get humiliated.

I'll tell you something, it just, I didn't feel too good about sharing the gospel after that too much.

You know in Matthew 8 and Mark 5 and also in Luke 8, there is a story of the demoniacs.

Jesus goes and casts the demons out, right?

And what did these 2 now healed people wanted to do?

Because they were not like the disciples who were with Christ for several years.

Look at what it says in Desire of Ages 339.

They, the demoniacs, desired the company of their Deliverer, that's Jesus.

In His presence, they felt secure from the demons that had tormented their lives and wasted their manhood.

As Jesus was about to enter the boat, they kept close to his side, knelt at his feet, and begged him to keep them near him, where they might ever listen to his words.

When they say, we want to be with you, Jesus, you just delivered us from this, The legion of demons.

Okay you guys, first you need to go to Southern, take theology, then go to Andrews, get a MDiv.

After you study all these things, why don't you go and preach?

Because right Now, you guys don't know anything.

After all, you've been possessed by demons for a long time.

But it says right here, "'But Jesus bade them go home "'and tell what great things the Lord has done for them.

Now, in page 340 of the desire of ages, It is in working to spread the good news of salvation that we are brought near to the Savior.

The 2 restored demoniacs were the first missionaries whom Christ sent to preach the gospel in the region of Decapolis.

For a few moments, only these men had been privileged to hear the teachings of Christ.

Listen to this, not 1 sermon from his lips had ever fallen upon their ears.

They could not instruct the people as the disciples who had been daily with Christ were able to do.

But they bore in their own persons the evidence that Jesus was the Messiah.

You know, we make these excuses all the time.

I mean, when you hear a sermon, just write it down, and you can share that with somebody.

But God said, Jesus said, go and spread the message.

My very first attempt to convert somebody, I was 13 years old.

My best friend, his name at that time was Ty Cumby.
