For millennia people from different countries cultures and backgrounds have found direction and encouragement. In the inspired pages of the Bible in his day. Jesus directed listeners to search the prophecies of Scripture to find him. The only way of salvation two thousand years later as we stand on the brink of eternity. We know less need the purpose and hope God's Word provides Sacramento's central church brings you receiving the word timely Bible messages presented by pastors Chris buttery and Mike Thompson amazing revelations await you in God's Holy Word the Bible. Glad you joined us for pot to salvation in part one we discovered that we can standing with God We discovered there were some pitfalls as well but this presentation will be answering the very important questions how can I know that I'm sorry and how can I be one hundred percent sure of my standing with the God we're going to discover that the Gospel is simple and the Gospel is life changing sorry we trust that you have your bible in your hands sit back. Stay tuned as we go live now to pop to salvation. How can I know that my salvation is how can I know that my salvation is it's a simple as two plus two equals four. John chapter three verse sixteen For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life. This is not complicated. This is simple one sentence twenty five words that can be repeated in about ten seconds. One pastor I understand apparently has about six hundred sermons on this one verse alone. And if that wasn't impressive enough. He made a pretty bold statement about this particular text he said if all the Bible were destroyed except John three sixteen anyone anywhere could be saved by believing this off quoted and cherished verse is it is a true. Did the pass to heaven on balanced emphasis on the love of God. As a matter of fact another author point at that point this out in testimonies to the church volume six page fifty five. We're told Christ favorite theme was the paternal character and the abundant love of God and then more than this in testimonies to ministers page thirty seven referring to the conversation Jesus had with nicotine is there in John chapter three and then quoting John three sixteen the author says this lesson is one of the greatest importance to every soul that lives for the terms of salvation laid out in distinct lines. If one had no other text in the Bible. This alone would be a guide to every saw this means to me this means that if all we had was John three sixteen. We would have enough to understand and know. The lines of salvation would be clearly laid out the stink lines of salvation will be clearly laid out the terms of salvation would be clearly laid out in John three sixteen now of course we have more than that. Amen. We have more than that and for that we should always be grateful and we should always study and we should always grow. But here we're talking about salvation one o one salvation at its very minimum at its very basics you understand how can I know salvation is mine turn with me over to Luke Chapter nineteen. How can I know that salvation is mine simply this when Christ is received as a personal savior then salvation comes to a person's life. That's it salvation can be yours when you receive Jesus was your personal savior not just some savior out there not just one who. Died on a cross out there but your personal savior when you receive Christ as your personal savior then salvation comes to a person's life you recall the story of Zacchaeus the little man Zacchaeus who Jesus was coming couldn't couldn't get close enough to see Jesus so he climbed this the sycamore tree. So we could at least see Jesus. Luke Chapter nineteen verses six through nine notice. Notice the story here and Jesus came up to him and they looked up to the tree verse five Zacchaeus he said Come down hurry up come down for today. I must stay at your house so Zacchaeus made haste verse six and came down and received him while joyfully Zacchaeus did what receive Jesus but when they saw it they all come to complain saying he has gone to be a guest with a man who was a sinner then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord look look look Lord I have given half of my goods to the poor and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation. I restore it for fall and then Jesus said these words to Zacchaeus today what what friends salvation has come to this house because he is also a son of Abraham for the Son of Man is come to see can to save that which was lost. Zacchaeus accepted Jesus into his house and accepted Jesus into his hot this penitent and sorry repentant thief went from being lost to being saved when he opened his heart and receive Jesus as his personal Savior. He went from being reckless to being redeemed. He went from being a perfect mess to becoming a perfect man from becoming from being a law breaker to a law keeper from the son of the devil to the Son of God from one hundred percent wickedness to one hundred percent righteousness from sinner to. Ain't from hell and eternal damnation to heaven. And eternal life when he received Jesus as his personal Savior. Oh man how is it possible that a person can undergo such a radical change in such a brief moment like a friend of mine told me and like to tell me it only takes a moment to get right with God. It only takes a moment to get right with God How is it possible there are many things that I don't know there are many things you and I don't know but I do know what the Bible says John one verse twelve says but as many as received Him to them gave he power to become the sons of God even to them that believe on his name and in first John Chapter five verse twelve where told he that has the Son has life and he that hath not the Son hath not life. I also love what it says in their powerful little book steps to Christ on page sixty two the author agrees if you give yourself to him that is Jesus and accept Him as your savior then sinful as your life may have been for his sake you are accounted righteous Christ's character stands in place of your character you are accepted before God just as if you had not sinned and more than this Christ changes the hot man. What an experience coming to Christ in repentance with a penitent hot giving him our sin giving him our hearts our lives inviting him into our lives. And as verily as a person opens a hot to receive Jesus and it's that simple receive Jesus into their hearts they can be assured their salvation has come to their house just as it did for Zacchaeus. Now long time Christians need to understand that we're dealing with here is salvation. It's irreducible minimum we're looking at. Bottom line salvation beginners' salvation and friends this is so is so very very important the Bible states. The following as God's free gifts to miserable sinners like you and to me. These are the gifts his drawing love his grace his Can he gives conviction of sin. He offers repentance. He gives us faith. He provides salvation. He gives us eternal life. He provides the Holy Spirit He gives us righteousness justification forgiveness a new hot sanctification and victory over sin. These are all gifts that heaven provides for you and for me Jesus himself is also offered as a gift all coming to such at such a great cost coming to us at such a great cost to heaven. It's hard to receive a gift as it is a hard to receive a gift. When I was in college I had a terrific terrific and most generous gift provided to me by a terrific and generous family. I was in college I needed to get out and sell some Christian books I needed a car and I was here from a stray came when I was nineteen and needed to sell some Christian books to get out there and pay off my college bill and I also had some interns in turn I had some internships coming up but I needed to get to where I needed to go and going to got a phone call from the husband. The father of the house called up and said Christine. I heard you need a car. How much can you give got a car they're looking to sell and kind of saying and I said that's OK I'd love to buy from you I just don't have what it takes to buy from me at this point and he kind of smiled on the other end of the phone you can tell when someone's smiling on the other end of the phone the kind of chuckle a little bit and he said you know he said I'm not selling the car. I'm giving you the car. It's yours. To make sure that the I was hearing things right you know what are you I thank you that again Chris the car is yours. When did I have the car. And I picked up the keys and signed the paperwork. I had the car. It was mine it was too good to be true it seemed my friend was too good to be true and he gave me this car that he have and all teary emotive non He was from the bottom of his hot providing me with a gift no strings attached. It became mine when I picked it up picked up the keys signed the paperwork unbelievable. It was in a felt like that at that time but it was true and when it comes to receiving gifts from God The process is simple because all the gifts come wrapped up in one beautiful package and his name is Jesus. His name is Jesus the Bible says in First Corinthians chapter one in verse thirty but of him he in Christ Jesus who of God is made unto us wisdom. Righteousness and sanctification and redemption when we receive Jesus we receive all of that you see you receive Jesus you receive it all it's just that simple you see I'm a great sinner but Jesus is a great and mighty savior. It's just that simple if I ask him to be my Savior and I give him give him my heart salvation he offers to me full and free and in receiving it. I can know that I have the assurance of salvation that simple we receive simply salvation we receive Jesus by a thing called faith we reach out a hand of faith and we receive Him and in receiving Him we receive everything what terrific news. No wonder. It is called the Gospel. No wonder it is called The good news. So you are scalding Chris what about tomorrow. What about tomorrow. I mean salvation is assured me when I open my heart to Jesus today but can I be assured even tomorrow. The answer to that is yes yes and yes. Here's why. And here's why many stumble they wonder what to do next. Let's consider continue to keep it simple and Colossians chapter two and verse six notice with me kolache in chapter two in verse six notice what the Apostle Paul writes here. Colossians chapter two and those six were going to keep it simple. Here it is as you therefore have received Christ Jesus so Wark in him. That's it as you receive Jesus into your heart and into your life salvation has come to your your life to your house as you receive Jesus. So you walk in Him when you receive Jesus you were given salvation. It was yours. Tomorrow you simply continue in that salvation holding on to Jesus and simply trusting in Him when we accept Jesus as Savior. We have been forgiven. We have been justified. We have been freed from the penalty of sin like a clean slate. We've been given a brand new start. It's like a new birth experience it is a new birth experience but when we continue in Him we are filled with the spirit. We are sanctified and we have freed from the power of sin and allies. That's like staying clean Amen. We're clean when we come to it cleans us up when we come to Him And Jesus keeps us clean as we walk in him. That's called sanctification that's called growing in grace. You see in other words we are accepted of him and I like it how an author put it we are accepted of him while he is making us except of all that means that we are ready while he is making us ready. We can be just. Fied while he is sanctifying us we can be complete in him while he is completing us he considers us perfect while he is still perfecting us now the devil knows that if we believe this his power will be broken because we will experience such rest such peace such joy such confidence such steadfastness and assurance in Christ that nothing can move us from Jesus' side Amen. Oh man as the gospel prophet said in Isaiah Chapter thirty two verse seventeen he says the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for that experience can be Aus many trip up here at this point because they think that Christ did the saving at the beginning of their experience but it has to be left up to them to finish it. This could be further from the truth not just a few verses with the Philippians one verse six being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ did you get that Jesus pledges No no he guarantees he will finish what he started this he needs our cooperation. He needs. We we need to surrender ourselves and cooperate with him you see but he has pledged as weak as we submit to his work in our lives. He will finish what he started he has made himself responsible for yours and my salvation and that wonderful news this certainly is exhilarating news and this is not the only time in scripture that we are given this type of assurance writing to the Hebrew Christians poll writing about Jesus in Hebrews Chapter twelve in verse two says that Jesus is the author and the up finisher. Of our faith in Revelation Jesus describes himself as the alpha and the Omega. That's right he is the beginning and the In another word. He is the beginning of our faith and he is the end of our faith. He started it and he will finish it and you can count on that when you trust in Jesus notice these words in Philippians to verse thirteen for it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure you see you see God draws us with his love he convicts us of sin. He gives us the gift of repentance. He extends forgiveness and then he continues to work in us as we give him our heart as we're willing to allow him to work in us and this is all through a thing called Grace Grace doesn't grace transforms us grace works in us to will and to do of God's good pleasure my friend your assurance is found in none other then Jesus Christ in what he has done for you and what he is willing and can do in and through you today and tomorrow and the next day amen amen. So is salvation yours. Today is salvation yours. Today. Have you made Jesus your personal savior. Have you invited him into your life do you know that when you receive Jesus you receive salvation and that much more you've heard me share this story before but I like to tell it to you again it's the story of a wealthy man who along with his shot son share the passion for collecting art. Together they traveled around the world and adding only the finest treasures to their collections Manet's and Picasso's and Vanguard us. They all adorn the walls of their family a state the widowed elder man looked on with satisfaction as his child became an experienced art collector in his own right. The son's train dying. Businessman caused his father beam with pride as they dealt with deal as deals from all around the world as winter approached one particularly Year War engulfed the nation and the young man left to serve his country. After a few short weeks his father received a telegram his beloved son was M.I.A. missing in action. Ya collector waited for more news. Fearing he would never see his son again in just a few days his worst fears were confirmed the young man had died while attempting to evacuate a wounded fellow soldier distraught and lonely the old man faces the upcoming Christmas holidays with dread now only on Christmas Christmas morning he heard a knock at his door and awoken awaken this grieving old man he opened the door and he was startled to see a young man in his uniform a uniform a soldier's uniform and had a large package under his arm introduced himself he said I was a friend of your son as a matter of fact I was the one he was rescuing when he died. Come in for a few minutes of something to share with you so the two began to talk. The soldier told of how the man's son talked about what and the joy of collecting the masterpieces alongside of his dad and he told the old man he thought somewhat of an artist myself and I wanted to give you this so all men are up the package the paper gave way to a portrait. It was a beautiful portrait of wonderful portrait a portrait of the man the old man's son for the Wall would never consider the work of genius the painting or the caption young man's countenance and his expressions the likeness seemed done canny overcome with emotion the old man thanked the soldier and promised to hang the painting above his fireplace fatherly pride and satisfaction began to ease the old man's grief the painting of his son became his prized possession collapsing any interest in the pieces to which for which the museums around the world climate. He told his neighbors it was the greatest gift. He'd ever received the following spring the old man became ill and unfortunately he passed away and with the promise all with the famous collectors passing the world eagerly anticipated a great auction anticipating or according to the collectors will all of the works would be auctioned on Christmas Day the day that he received that greatest gift. So the day soon arrived a not dealers from around the world gathered to bid on some of the most spectacular paintings this world had ever seen dreams would be realized many would exclaim I have the greatest the greatest collection began however with a painting that was not on the museum list it was the simple portrait of a young soldier. It was a portrait of the collective's son the auction Aust for an opening bid and as you would probably expect the room was silent. You will open with a bit of one hundred minutes passed and no one spoke from the back of the room there was a gruff voice who cares about this painting this picture of this boy bring out the other pictures we demand to see the yobbos voices echoed in agreement the auctioneer demanded that he needed to sell this one first. Finally the neighbor of the old man spoke up will you take ten dollars for that's all I can spare. I knew the boy I'd like to have a ten dollars call the auctioneer will anyone go higher after a few more moments of silence the auctioneer said going once going to Weiss the gavel came down. It was solved and she is filled the room is now it was a shame that the real auction would now begin. But that moment the auctioneer looked at the audience and quietly and now that the auction was always stunned disbelief filled the entire room. Come for the world's finest paintings couldn't be over couldn't be truly a couldn't be here simply say to those gathered there today it's very simple. According to the will of the Father. Whoever takes the son takes it all. Whoever takes the son takes said old friend do you know that when you take Jesus you take it all to you know when you accept Jesus in your heart life you receive salvation it comes to your house do you know when you receive Jesus you receive salvation don't leave here today. Not knowing where you stand with Jesus Christ. Don't leave here today. Not knowing what could have been yours. But you let it slip between your fingers because you perhaps didn't care. She said but maybe another day another time they'll be a more convenient season perhaps don't live here to die. Not knowing whether he is yours and your he is open your heart to Jesus Christ to die is a simple as that and when you do you'll have it all have it all.
