we're continuing our study through the book of Hebrews and last week we doesn't introduction and we got through the first nine verses of chapter one and this week we are going to finish chapter one and probably yet to chapters two quote will safely finish executed in surrogate just the brief review of last week 's lesson is that Paul wrote this but the salt of the to the Hebrews shortly before the destruction of Jerusalem and this successful taken to heart by the Christian Jews at that time save them from destruction because up until that time the Christian Jews in Jerusalem were still worshiping the sample they were still hanging on to many traditions of the Jewish traditions from before the cross and so Paul wrote this letter to help them understand that both things are no longer binding however there is more to the mucosal of Hebrews and just to the Jews of that day as you know the book of Matthew chapter twenty four Jesus talks about the destruction of Jerusalem in the end of the world and ties them into the same prophecy and Paul essentially does the same thing in the book of Hebrews sowed the Hebrews was for the Jews of that day is also forgot to us the people for then we got under chapter one we see that the first three verses describe who Christ is and those characteristics of Christ in the first three verses are characteristics that will be built upon in the remainder of the book of Hebrews member wanted that he's creator Theo pulls all things by the word of his power IEP express image of the father a perfect reproduction of his character that he purged our sins are either seder and sacrifice he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high to either high priest all those things are to be developed as we get to the book of Hebrews MEF U-verse nine last week and we see how Paul has proven that Jesus is clearly God and the father speaking to the son and the father called the son God so that's that the best evidence that we can have the show that Jesus really is God if the father calls Jesus God what further proof do you need so that's what we looked at last week and then we got to see you verse nine and we got through about half of us was a forward thinking that today before we start the note we don't reveal like to have a word of prayer and wheat will get into the rest of her study your father in heaven we thank you for the Santa Fe we pray for a special blessing as we study your word we thank you for the book of Hebrews and how enlightened us for our time in prison Jesus Manning on okay and I guess I should point out that I will have some of you read verses with a microphone in the battle some of you and if you have a question or comment about what were going through this is an interactive study as much as possible as we get through the keepers so we got to verse nine Moscow we are an inverse aid the father told the summit he is a God and that the principle of this kingdom are based on righteousness in verse nine the father says to the son thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity therefore got even my God hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows so why is it that the principles of Christ's kingdom are based on righteousness while we see that Christ's was righteousness and hated iniquity and especially here on this earth he demonstrated those principles in fact he hated and neck forty so much that he was willing to die on the cross because of his hatred for sin now what's interesting is when you get to Hebrews twelve Paul tells us looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith you for the joy that was set before him in the air the cross despising the shame in the next couple of verses later he says you have not yet resisted in the blood striving against the which means if you're not resisting sent in the blood that means that you don't hate some way Christ but Christ hated inequity and he loved righteousness served chapter twelve is to bring this concept out again but Christ shows us here on this earth that's not a financial love righteousness we also need to hate iniquity or so let's hope that's the example of the demonstration the Christ gives US and because of that as therefore God even my God hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows this is a significant part of the verse this is speaking of the sun being anointed with oil by the father so the question is what is this anointing speaking and I would like to volunteer to read Psalms chapter one thirty three Psalms chapter one thirty three versus one and see if their volunteer that could read Psalms one thirty three versus one C Rebecca 's behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity it is like a precious ointment top on they had everyone down upon the beard even Aaron 's beard that went down to the skirts of his garments for the slot thirty three one and see what we see in verse one we see that it's good for brethren to dwell together in unity what is what we see in verse two rights we see Aaron being anointed you with Aaron Aaron was the brother of Moses and what was his role in his life reads so Sharon is being anointed as the high priest in the verse before that talks about unity now in the New Testament with respect to Christ Christ ascended to heaven after the forty days and at Pentecost the Bible further the disciples were in one accord in one place they were joined together in unity and of the Holy Spirit was poured out upon all have a whole lifetime to go into this constant number the idea is that when the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the apostles at Pentecost as they were in unity at the same time Christ was anointed as high priests in heaven and Psalms one thirty three sort of gives this that idea and key receptor one speaking of the anointing of Christ is giving us the idea that Christ was anointed for something and when we get to chapter three verse one says that Christ is the apostle and high Priest of our profession so policy is chapter one and chapter two to prove that Jesus is our high priest another Hebrews one verse nine as part of proving that point now let's see those of like a volunteer announcer read verses ten through twelve Hebrews chapter one verses ten through twelve girl someone who is here and here the receptor one verses ten through twelve and thou Lord to the beginning is laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the works of thy hands they shall perish with our latest and they shall wax old as doth a garment and as a vesture shalt thou fold them up and they should be changed but thou art the same and the years shall not fail so again he responded talking about proof that Jesus is God and what inverse and when help is that it's a Jesus really is God Army father 's earnings call him God but was in attribute here that comes out the shows that he is God and he lay the foundation of the years the heavens are the works of his hands in other words he is created or an genesis lies is in the beginning God created the heaven and the years so once again truth that Jesus is God and that he is Creator and what's interesting is says that what the heck that heavens and the earth a year 's credit shall perish they will wax old as the garment is investor they shall be folded and what this is telling us is that because of sin the things that God created will ultimately passed away here on this earth the earth that God created will pass away each other 's but even though they perish Jesus will still remain and he will still be the same number matter what happens to this earth and in Hebrews thirteen verse eight we had the famous first Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever so ceramic high aspect structure their chapter one chapter thirteen Wisconsin the Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever he's always been and he always will be and he is God and he created years so the Jews who are trying to figure out okay here was this Jesus okay we believe that he is the Messiah Paul is saying what this Jesus that were talking about the father says he's God this Jesus who were talking about he created the earth in human he's the same yesterday today and forever he always has been and he always will be and that's where we should be cutting our folk not in the Temple in Jerusalem and this was very helpful in the Christian JC escape Jerusalem at that time members of seals have a volunteer to read verses thirteen and fourteen keeper chapter one verses thirteen and fourteen over here too which is also said he any time soon on my right hand and so I make mine enemies by footstool are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be tears of salvation for digital regular theater through verse thirteen now Paul makes a contrast again to Christ and the angel feet as he did earlier in chapter one and this is where we fall more than what if he received evidence and witnesses say so what is Paul saying when he talks about the father saying to the fun so my right hand until I make thine enemies by footstool this is something that the Angels clearly cannot the third this is something that Jesus the son can need he sitting on the right hand of God and still the enemies of the center made a footstool but the Angels can't do that and you would have to say that whatever this point is to be further proof of the divinity of Christ because chapter one of all about proving that Jesus is divine he is a God so what is it about sitting on the right hand of God so his enemies are made is so still make some divine comparisons of the Angels and the answer to not as found in Hebrews chapter can same the same concept same author just a little bit more of an earth formation and if I can have a volunteer read Hebrew chapter can versus twelve and thirteen keepers ten verses twelve and thirteen is readily here Hebrews chapter ten versus twelve thirteen that this man after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down on the right hand of God from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool IDC the same concept here that it's expanded upon in Hebrews one the father doesn't say to the interface of my right hand sleep your enemies are major footstool he says it's a sign and hubris can we seek like after Christ offered a sacrifice force and he sat down on the right hand of God so what does that make Christ makes them our sacrifice which makes them our Savior and our egg in the Angels be our savior no way that the fact that Christ died for us this further evidence of his divinity and after he made a sacrifice for sin he sat on the right hand of God from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made this footstool now organized talk about this here and we'll talk about it again when we get deeper stems will be several weeks from now some talk about it now is repetition even depression what does it mean for Christ's enemies to be made is footstool because I thought while actually I didn't bet some people say that we Christ on the cross that was the end of everything so if everything ended when Christ died on the cross why does he still have enemies that need to be made is so suitable as you can as they seated until they are made is that still if the cross didn't solve that issue because fevers can trust us like he offered a sacrifice for sins forever that's clearly the cross and then he went to haven't sat down and sell his enemies are made us that still so why is he still sitting down so this is where we use the Bible to help understand this concept this concept a little further and we go to first Corinthians chapter fifteen first Corinthians chapter fifteen and I would like someone to read verses twenty four three twenty seven first printing instructor fifteen versus twenty four through twenty seven they will volunteer back here with their prescriptions fifteen twenty four to twenty seven then clemency and when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God even the father when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power for he must reign till he hath put all enemies under his feet the last enemy that shall be destroyed is death for he hath put all things under his feet but when you set SAF all things are put under him it is manifest that he is extracted which did put all things under him okay now defeated a similar concept being this right here by the same author Paul kissers he's going to ring so he has to all enemies under his feet but the same thing as his enemies be made is that still here it says his enemies a visit and either cut under his feet now what is the last enemy and it says here in verse twenty six to now the question then is if Jesus died on the cross and he reciprocated it's interesting if you are taking the checkered shoot because Jesus died he destroyed the power of death that yet it says that he's going to rental all of his enemies are put under his feet and Christ on the cross the death the power of death was destroyed and yet the question is if the power of death was destroyed why people continue to dice and the cross of Christ destroy the power desktop across a man he was resurrected why do people to stop dying then Jesus comes back shortly after his ascension and were all done so if you go to verse fifty five and fifty six the first drinking fifteen already actually yet fifty five two fifty seven fellow volunteering first rent is fifteen fifty five to fifty seven volunteer for every year what is it that causes death to still be around just where is thy sting so grave where is thy victory this sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law I think speeding five which given even as the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ the sting of death is what the now when you go around and it's very clear Romans six twenty three wages of sin is death so here's the point as long as there is certain there still death no more son no more death and what's interesting is in verse fifty seven a first review fifteen is is okay this thing of death to send the strength of sin is the law the law points out what soon as November sixty seven thanks be to God giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and based on the context of victory that we are given is over sin and death that's a victory the Lord Jesus Christ gives us so price after he offered one sacrifice for sins forever ascended to heaven where he must reign so all enemies armed under his feet or his enemies are made is that still so he sitting down and the last enemy to be destroyed is death which is caused by sun and here's an interesting thing to consider in Daniel chapter seven versus nine through thirteen we see the concept of the judgment beginning and when you read those verses this is the judgment was set and the books were opened or another version this is the court was seated and the books were opened which gives you the idea that at the beginning of the judgment Jesus used the cemetery is on the right hand of the throne of God was still sitting in eighteen forty four when any phenolic like the most holy place the Joshua began and Christ is still seated as they begin the judgment now when you get to Daniel eleven twelve and you get the Daniel chapter twelve verse one guess what happened Michael stands up which guess what that means these enemies have been made as footstool that means there is no more sin and no more death and if you understand the concept of the cause of probation after the closer probation none of God 's people will die between closer probation in the second coming and why is that organizations in the book of Hebrews that when Christ enemies are made as such still what happens in the sanctuary in heaven is the sense of God 's people are blotted out that the closer probation and Michael stands up and when that happens the enemies of God are made as such to and the reason why is because God has a group of people who no longer have sent in their lives why because it's in the blotted out working to develop this concept through the book of Hebrews that crises truly God he's truly mad because of that he can be a faithful high priest and help each one of us to have it he had while he lived here on this earth so that he can have a group of people that you can blunt others and the judgment so that you stand up and he will no longer have enemies to be made is a footstool under set that Seabury 's chapter one verse thirteen really develop that concept and in verse fourteen we see the Angels and minister to us you shall be heirs of salvation now in your earlier in the chapter we see that Christ is the first begotten of the father and week we studied what the no sweeping he became the first begotten of the resurrection you can see that next thirteen thirty three and before he died he was the only begotten son of God but those you are heirs of salvation that's we can become second third fourth fifth and on the gotten of God because Christ died for us and so this is the good news of the gospel so that he was chapter one and another summary on a chapter cubic in a nutshell fever chapter one God speaks to us in these last days but the Jews before the destruction of Jerusalem I was there last based in the God 's people molasses of the inner world through his son directly and his son is God he is Creator he is our sacrifice of our Savior and he is our high Priest he sat on the right hand of the throne of God and his characteristics are also such that he loved righteousness and he hated iniquity and when he has a group of people who love righteousness and hates then he will no longer have enemies that are not his footstool he will then his enemies will then be made is that still when he has a group of people that love righteousness and hated for that senior chapter one and then we get a chapter to see you have like a volunteer to read verses one through three he was chapter two verses one through three therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard lest at any time we should let them slip first the words spoken by angels was steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward how shall we escape if we neglect so great held basin which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him versus one to three have some important front to both that need to be developed the first word of chapter two is therefore and we know what that means is a case where anything is because the largest in chapter one which is to say because God is speaking to us through his son who is also God in these last days and his son is our Creator our Savior and our high priest if God 's speed and US through Jesus you have those characteristics we really need to give more earnest seed to the things that God is telling and it reminds of the verse that says that that we should not just be series of the word only but viewers of the word to give us see the fence of the things that God says not just here as less than any time we should let them slip and another way to translate that is what the anytime we should let it drift away or drift by or another way to say it is less out of the state lest we should run out as leaking vessels and a leaking vessel is something that is slowly drips out you lose a little bit over China before you realize it you've lost your container of water whatever it was worth to drift by something you're just slowly drifting along figuring that you're going to get things in order and end takes you do what you credit some point of what Paul is saying here is what him to give back to reject something outright to hear the word of God and say forget you got I don't believe you that's bad but for every person that rejects God outright comedy more people neglect God like you I know that God is spoken to us I know that he spoken to us through his Word I'll get around to it one of these days that this stage of my life I need to focus on my studies then when you get your degree to get a job or this plan my life I need to establish my career so that I can support my family and then when he said well then I need to make money to for my kids through college and when I get to retirement now all give heed to what the Bible says in a minor time you get there your whole life is gone by and you've neglected and let slip by or let drift by the word of God in your life you people do how many people they don't say oh I don't believe that Jesus is God I don't believe that there even as a God there's some people that say that the how many more people say yeah I believe Jesus died on the cross and thirty one eighty I believe he died for my sons but they hardly know where the first principles of the oracles of God and Paul Fuchs the Hebrews in chapter five in a very strong manic present what it is ridiculous that at this stage just this close to the destruction of Jerusalem but I have to write you a letter explaining to you the first principle of the oracles of God you should be teaching this to the Gentiles right and how many of us could be said the same things that we have neglected this great sound Bashan I got is given to us in his word so there is a warning to hospital she not neglected to let slip that things that God says to to give the more earnest heed to the things which we of her members to think about the words spoken by angels was steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward how shall we escape not web persecuted correct translation is is not that angels and is not the word of God 's regal server by Angels the Angels brought a word from the Lord shoot people MA and of the Holy Spirit spoke not of this first think so God is used to angels as their ministers of her salvation chapter one for us to understand the things of God and he spoke to Mister Rackley Q God and we've seen that every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward there is a judgment account and if you break the law and your underpants that there is a just recompense for it Amherst three how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation and again notes for Paula sang here how are we can escape let's look at the people in the past let's look at the genius with your forefathers he speaking to the Hebrews look at them after they came in to the promised land in many cases they neglected the salvation of God and look what happened eventually they are carried into captivity and the Babylon and there's other many other examples that we can use that's just one how shall we escape if we neglect in the same way that they neglect and notice somewhere that he's using its neglect is not reject will Ferrell we neglect God 's great foundation we spent five minutes in the morning in devotions and then we don't think about God all day long we watched TV for two hours at night we might have a five-minute diversion before we get that and God was in our minds from maybe ten minutes all day long and the things of this world were on our mind the whole day that's what it means to neglect the great salvation of God we don't reject God if you do you believe Jesus died for your sins absolutely did back is that it does have a real value in your life you live accordingly this Christ sacrificed for you really mean what it means you live that way do people know that about you at work and so on and so forth how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by the matter heard in the night assistances which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord policymaking reference to the beginning of the gospel in the Old Testament in Genesis three fifteen would fit that description and then there were those who heard Christ or rectal impulses it was confirmed under us by them that heard him directly when he was here on this Earth which by the way that proves that one of the twelve apostles could not be the author of Hebrews because of one of the twelve apostles was the author of Hebrews they would think which was confirmed to me when I heard him when he was here on this Earth Paul wasn't there with Christ when Christ walked sisters except on the roadmap Damascus so the first three verses Paul is imploring his readers that the Hebrews and up-to-date do not neglect great salvation of God how do we neglect the great salvation of God cannot meditate upon the things of God throughout our daily life let's find you come to church once a week but if you're only thinking about God ten minutes a day the other six days you are neglecting the great salvation of God and he is very big rhetorical question is how shall we escape and the obvious answers we shall not escape if we neglect the great salvation so that the first three verses I would like to read verses four and five Heber chapter three verses four and five receiver circuit she verses four and five in the common sugar and make a common hobby that advertising skulls clinical love this from a personal study how it says that the Angels in installations mentioned that the Angels were a role in the giving of the ceremonial laws and so since the Angels played a role in that and then showing how you'll be brought in the first economy through Moses now Jesus bringing the next company economy in it I was brought by God to build up the first chapter there was a medical elegant oranges a lot of punch to this disgorgement is that BBC just punishment yet how much more shall we exactly so versus four and five God also bearing them with for five bottles bearing them witness both with signs and wonders and with divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost according to his own will want to Angels has he had he not put in subjection the world to come where we speak to now numbers for Paula Thornton on those who heard God through Jesus Christ radically and God born witness to these people through signs and wonders divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost and this is a description of the early Christian church the signs and wonders that were poured out I think about it here is imprisoned an angel comes in the liver stomach shortly before he died but the fun and wonder if I've ever seen one and the Holy Ghost was poured out in the form of Pentecost upon the early believers so clearly God has words he's forgot his Holy Spirit he's given signs and wonders and so the question is how can you ignore or neglect the way in which God has worked among his people and what's go on here when he shook her click the time of much further working again at work we will finish executed it up on so now were going to get a verse six and I would like some of the read verses six through eight he reset the key verses six three renown here but in the wine in a certain place testified saying what is man that thou art mindful of him or the Son of Man did not visit or send a made a semi- little lower than the angels across him with glory and honor and did set over him the work of the hands that has put all things in subjection under his feet for in that he put all in subjection under him he left nothing that is not put under him but now we see not yet all things put under the now Paul shift gears a little bit see the subject of man and he's talking about the creation of man here and see in verse seven that man was made a little lower than the angels if you look at the marginal reading it says a little while in theory year to the Angels I mean that implies is dismounted mandala while inferior to the Angels that implies that an is glorified state he would no longer be inferior and we also see the all things were put in subjection under the feet of man then at the end versus is that now we cannot you all think that under so what is Paulson or what when God made man he was a little lower than the angels but because of sin now not all things are in subjection under me it's said that when sin entered the world man lost this objection over the world and Satan became the prince of this earth essentially what policy as interesting Christ then rains those enemy armadas footstool and at the same time not all things are in subjection under man so there seems to be a connection and what's interesting is in Romans sixteen verse twenty it talks about how the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly that's speaking of man through the power of the gospel there will come a time when Satan will be bruised under the feet of men the main point your notice is that when God made man he made him just a little lower than the angels man was crowned with glory and honor to reflect the glory of God to reflect the character of God than man's land and that messed up the plans of and guess what happened we see this in verses nine and ten volunteer to reroute receivers to verses nine and ten the receptor to Bruce's mindset are down here but we see Jesus was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man for it became him for whom are all things and by whom are all things in bringing many sons unto glory to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings now first time Mrs. Weasley Jesus he was made a little lower than the angels does not remind you have afraid we just saw a little bit earlier we saw that man was made a little lower than the so man's hand and now Jesus becomes a man of powerful that and it becomes even more powerful when you think about this is the same Jesus that we talked about in Hebrews one two is God creates for and he's our high priest and he loves righteousness and hated iniquity and because he is because he loves righteousness so much because he hated iniquity so much he came to this earth to be a human being to save us from the Jesus is made a little lower than the Angels for the suffering of death when a comment right here again with a microphone so we can get this in crisis and Hebrews were replaced with it sigh a wonderful view of what man has meant to be and we see that in the person of God 's son Ryan and it's from the depths of iniquity that men are exalted to Jesus and that I wanted to point that out exactly after that year and those actually try my next point that Jesus was mental model are the meaning of the monkey was crowned with glory and honor and later on says he wants to bring many sons unto glory to Jesus Crown of glory and honor and he dies so that we can be brought and the glory and that was the original purpose for man is that Man was crowned with glory and honor then he said so then Jesus became amount he was crowned with glory and honor and a verse ten he brings many sons of the glory to you can see that concept he met a little and tomatoes for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man now here's the key point Jesus became a man so that he could die and here's a question when Adam had a sinless nature could he die not Adam was not the subject to death because he had not sent the price never sent but Christ became subject to death because he sick man's fallen nature and that's what he rejected she was teaching here Christ is made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death you have a sinless nature you're not in a die and if you have follow nature you can be subject to death crowned with glory and honor that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man and diverse American gives us proof that he tasted death for every man at the second death not just the first of November Sanford became him I get young level will be versed on next week of fun I can't explain for some few minutes that were getting into the concert now that Jesus of Manchester one the Jesus got an hour to show that Jesus is fully and truly man and when those two characteristics that qualifies him to be our high priest and
