father in heaven we thank you for the Sabbath day and we pray that as we study your word again that you would bless this public have a deeper understanding of the things of God this is my prayer Jesus meaning F last class two weeks ago we went through he was chapter seven scribe the mouthpieces of that priesthood and showed that Jesus comes from the Melchizedek order rather than the Levitical priesthood and one of the things about Melchizedek is that there is no record of the beginning of his life or the end of his life that doesn't mean that he wasn't a real human being he was born in the diocese of there is no biblical record of that account and if it's an illustration of Jesus Pugh is without beginning so he's not a created being just as a point of order some of our early pioneers didn't understand that properly and he's without ending and we see towards the chapter seven that he ever limited to make intercession for us and I I when we got to verse twenty six I made a comment I want to back that up today verse twenty six as for such an high priest became us who is holy harmless undefiled separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens now humanly speaking we read that verse in Electrolux Jesus peacefully harmless undefiled separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens and I'll never be like that that is interesting along why have comment about this verse is in heavenly places page one sixty she says every soul that gained eternal life must be like Christ holy harmless undefiled separate from sinners so that's in heaven McCain places page one sixty so if you the book of Hebrews is showing the business you Jesus is this is what he was but he was like this so that he can help us to be like that as well and the select how to wrap such keepers chapter seven then we get deceivers chapter eight in the forward and affect up today were to make some connections to what we studied in the first seven chapters so I'd like to volunteer to receivers chapter eight versus one C is there volunteer with their now of the sinks which we have spoken this is some of me has such a high priest who is sent on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens a minister in the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord pitched and not man thank you so what's Paul saying here in chapter eight starting in verse one what is saying is this for the very first sentences the things which we have spoken this is the summer the summary first seven chapters free that Jesus is the high priest sat on the right hand of the thread in the map Majesty in heaven the minister the true century to century the true tabernacle which the Lord pitch and not man so first seven chapters truth that Jesus is our high priest in Matthew that he is in heaven set on the right hand of the throne of God so what about the first seven chapters again truth is durable how did Paul use the first seven chapters approved the Jesus high presettlement right hand of the throne of God chapter one Jesus God G Jesus is fully man because he was made in all things like his brethren he can help us you are tempted chapter three he's better than Moses chapter four we can come boldly to the throne of grace to get help from him to answer into his rest chapter five we see that there's high priest on earth and just as they should be merciful to people here on earth so is Christ chapter six we see that Jesus is the forerunner entered into the veil seventies the forerunner we should follow him Chapter seven we see the high priest after the order of Melchizedek which is an unchangeable everlasting priesthood then we get to chapter eight verse one this is the song because of all those things we have a high priest in heaven who sat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven now is there another place in the book of Hebrews that that describes Jesus at the right hand of the throne of God with the chapter one okay anywhere else chapter twelve I know we haven't gotten there in chapter twelve famous passage verses one and two driver volunteer receivers twelve versus one C garden here and wait for the microphone please read the wherefore seeing we also are compassed with about was so great a cloud of witnesses let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with page since the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before him and hear the cry despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God now we know this passage to think about in concert with the receivers one favorite favors one we have a high priest that the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven could we have in Hebrews twelve verse one and two how is Jesus described he described as the author and finisher of our faith serve Chapter eight verse one and shoot fees are high priests of the right hand of the throne of God chapter twelve he's the author in the finisher of our faith now we've talked about Jesus being the author and finisher of our faith earlier in our studies we seen that these the author of eternal salvation to all those who obey him in Hebrew chapter five we see the captain of our eternal salvation he restructured sheet and all of those things are things that Hall is saying about Christ to prove that he is our high priest thirty the captain of our salvation to all those who obey him in chapter two and by the way he was made in all things like his brethren so that he could be a merciful and faithful high priest because he knows that we will be sent to justice he was tempted he can help us and chapter five he learned obedience through the things which he suffered and therefore he became the author of eternal salvation to all this your bacon so you see all the things earlier he reason you get to chapter eight thousand other things qualified to be our high priest sat down at the right hand of the throne of God but he's also described as the author and finisher of our faith so how do we connect the concept of Jesus Azhar Hyde Frese and is the author in the finisher of our faith so what is the purpose of Jesus being the author and finisher of our faith you can also say that it's his role the role of Jesus is our high priest is to be the author and finisher of our faith that's what he's viewing the heavenly sanctuary so as he seated at the right hand of the throne of God as high priest this function therefore is to be the author and finisher of our faith so how does that happen what is he trying to do for us as high priest and author and finisher of our faith was elected he was twelve it says let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us now were being hauled to lay aside every weight and listen which doth so easily beset us were being called the run this race with patients now have we seen anywhere I very mention of this one have we seen anywhere else in the book of Hebrews about running after someone keepers six Jesus is the forerunner entered into the veil as our high Priest so that means Jesus ran this race ahead of us so she ran a race where he laid aside every weight he honestly didn't send the ramifications and says he learned obedience through the things which he suffered in the receptor five and so forth so Jesus is our high priest in heaven seated at the right hand of the throne of God is each his function is to be our high priest and media author and finisher of our faith and as the author and the finisher of our faith his goal is to get us to run the race that he ran and Heber six tells us that he was the forerunner and how to be run this race will get to chapter twelve in that this is important so he endured the cross and the warfarin dear here is the same as patients so it starts at the cross and then insist he is set down at the right hand of the throne of God six how do we run this race will first of all when you have a race there's a beginning point and an ending point with a beginning point according to years twelve it's the cross Jesus endured the cross despising the shame with the finish line the right hand of the throne of God not for Jesus is our great high priest so then it was connect this to author in finisher of our faith when Jesus is the author of our faith that means if the beginning point of our faith where does the beginning point of our faith began begins at the cross and so he's the author of our faith that begins up across that for the race begins he's the author of our faith he's also the finisher of our faith and where does the race and it ends in the sanctuary in heaven and of course is good seven patents we know that that's in the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary the finisher of our faith so Jesus is our high priest is set down the right hand of the throne of God and as our high Priest he also functions of the author and finisher of our faith and his goal as our high priest and the author and finisher of our faith is to have us run the same race that he ran to the forerunner what's that race the race where we lay aside every weight in the sin which doth so easily be set us and we run with patients the race that is set before us and we welcome the Jesus the author and finisher of our faith so here's what we have here we have a race with patients we have the workstations and we have looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith when our faith is finished by Jesus again the finishing point for that experience takes place in the most solid plate to the heavenly sanctuary were Jesus seated at the right hand of the throne of God so what kind of faith or God 's people have if they finish the same race that Jesus and they get to the same finishing point that Jesus got there the face of Jesus so Jesus is our high priest is seated at the right hand of the throne of God and he is also functioning as our high Priest as the author and finisher of our faith and his goal is to have a group of people who have patience in the face of Jesus and is there any other place in the Bible that describes a group of people like that obviously revelation fourteen twelve who are the group of people Revelation fourteen twelve hundred and forty four thousand that's the people who ran with patience the race that was set before them they laid aside every weight and the sin which so easily beset and they look at Jesus the author and finisher of other faith they started up the cross just as Jesus of the thirty man will come after me but integument let him take up his cross daily and follow me and they keep following Jesus all the way to the Muslim place of the heavenly sanctuary and when they get there they have the faith of Jesus so here's a group of people you learn how to work in the Jesus every day they follow him all the way through this life so then when you get to heaven it says the hundred and forty four thousand follow the Lamb whithersoever he jealous and that's because they learn how to do that here on the server episode was just summarize what were saying geniuses as high priest this function while he is seated at the right hand of the throne of God is as our high priest and it's also as the author and finisher of our faith and see his ministering on behalf of us his people so that he will have a group of people who experienced the end of the race of the way that he did so that he can have a group of people with patients to keep the command forgot in the faith of Jesus and so in a nutshell Hebrews eight one and two is the seven thousand this message the first seven chapters prove that Jesus is our great high priest seated at the right hand of the throne and the majesty of the heavens Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord touched and not men so what's Jesus during Arthur high priest he's also the author and finisher of our faith preparing a group of people who will come boldly to the throne of grace so that we can receive mercy and grace to help in our time and need and he can offer that mercy grace and help because he was tempted in all points like as we are yet without sin such a powerful message about Jesus I like that the Jesus is a minister in the sanctuary and the true tabernacle which the Lord pitched and not man to clearly this is God 's sanctuary which he attached it what this is not a man-made sanctuary were talking about your Mrs. the sanctuary and have now let's continue here but three versus three through five if I can have a volunteer to read Hebrews chapter eight versus three three five Verdun here for every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices wherefore it is a necessity at this man have somewhat also to offer for if he were on earth he should not be a priest being that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle for C that now make all things according to the patterns show to be in the amount okay versus three through five are pretty simple or not spend an hour on a basic concept here what in the earthly system every high priest was regained offer gifts and sacrifices and since Jesus is high-frequency needs to offer a sacrifice as pretty clear the sacrifice that he offered he offered himself now there is no high priest according to the Levitical system to ever offer themselves like that so that makes Jesus better than any high priest that was ever in the political system right off the top set here yet we just talked about years twelve every way in the social so easily beset us okay what did Jesus he offered himself are you willing to give yourself to God what would Jesus did for us so she had some also offer that's himself an inverse fourth clear if he were on earth you should not be a priest why did this he was not from the Levitical line appalled Artie answered that issue in Chapter seven think we came from the tribe of Judah and God sworn will not repent he's from the line of Nokia 's economic from the Levites verse five is an important verse it says you serve in the example and shadow with heavenly things so the earthly sanctuary service is an example and a shadow of heavenly things now when you think of a shadow the shadow is an imperfect representation of the real thing it can be longer or it can be shorter depending on the angle with respect to the sun an example of a little bit more concrete but then we get see the universe five it says that the earthly sanctuary was according to the pattern all things in earth essentially were made according to the pattern shown to Moses on Mount Sinai so the pattern courtyard holy place most holy place some people in modern scholarship is they say well Jesus had two phases to his high priestly ministry and yes the second phase began in eighteen forty four he was in the same place from the very beginning to phases she places small that complicated or following the pattern and how might an early writings page fifty four fifty five says that uses one from the leaflets of the most solid plate on October twenty two eighteen forty four select cases closed my mind but even if you don't have a long life you have he received five Saint the earthly sanctuary is a pattern of a heavenly sanctuary now the continuing on those are minor points really let's read verses six through eight about a volunteer to read verses six through eight if he would check six three the now he had obtained a more excellent ministry by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant which was established upon better promises for if that first covenant had been faultless then should no place have been sought for the second for finding fault with them he said will hold the days come saith the Lord when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah thank you serve were talking about Christ being high priest Amherst six we see that with Christ the other high priests please obtained a more excellent ministry better than the earthly sanctuary and throughout the book of Hebrews we see that Christ and his high priestly ministry is always better than the earthly system that was developed and if his high priestly ministry is better so also is the covenant that is established upon his better ministry the attic based on the earthly sanctuary and you have a covenant based on Christ's heavenly sanctuary ministry which Kennedy thinks going to be better free clear as a covenant in which Christ is personally taking responsibility for based on his high priestly ministry and we see the first cabinet if it had been faultless then should never place a been sought for the second diversity finding fault with them he saith behold the days come saith the Lord when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah so now we have the concept for the first time explicitly stated of the new covenant to God 's people him that is based on price that her ministry his high priestly ministry that was established upon better promises and were going to look at what this covenant is here in verses nine cents a volunteer to reverse his mindset not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt because they continued not in my covenant and I regard them as not to the Lord for this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days take the Lord I will put my laws into their minds and write them in their hearts and I will be to demagogue and they shall be to me people are so here we see the concept of the new covenant the new covenant is gobbled that his laws into their mind and write them in their hearts he will be a demagogue and they shall be my people what was wrong with the old covenant what happened in the old covenant God wrote his law on tables of stone he spoke with Commandments the the mountain Mount Sinai short people were afraid they would die and out of fear they said to God all of the Barta said we will need and guess what happened they wandered for forty years in the wilderness and we see in Hebrews three and for that they entered not in the God 's rest so God says he found fault with them he regarded them not and they did not continue common they tried to keep God 's law on their own strength and Sarah God is on ID something better this time instead of writing in tables of stone and taking empty promises from human beings who have no power to keep my law on a take matters into my own hands I will set my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts and I will be a demigod and they shall be in the upheaval of the very first thing you see is the mercy in the faithfulness of God remember we see in he received that Jesus is a merciful and faithful high priest only someone who is merciful and say hey you messed up and you can keep the covenant son I make a new covenant with you better so that you can have my salvation below what you say that's God 's mercy and faithfulness and they didn't deserve it they clearly messed up but God says on unity something better for you think River comment down here for you to get the microphone so we see that God is making a new covenant with his people as a comment right here I feel it's a very significant issue when Paul talks in Philippines to a ballot that is in for these two twelve and thirteen or ten years of salvation with fear and trembling for it is God who works in you right and that was he put the line our minds and hearts and he works in us so the key is we keep close block close chat with him so that he can work in us willing to do is prepare absolutely sick when is God that were finished will give his good pleasure that is the new covenant experience yes another back here I think the connection with the good covenants and the sacrifices of the priestly ministries is a good helpful illustration because I don't think the problem with the old covenant was that it was good but we messed off on it was incomplete it was insufficient it was sure a symbol really of what was supposed to be going on just like the blood of the animals was insufficient like you said no power wasn't really efficacious and so on the new covenant is the real power behind that that made the old covenant possible the reality is that God gave the new covenant before he gave the old covenant and so the power was always there and that earthly sanctuary system was intended to point people to trifle sacrifice so that they would have a covenant relationship with him it didn't work so let's look at this concept of the new covenant where God says I will set my laws into their mind will ripen in their hearts I will be a demagogue nation beating the upheaval and actually the new covenant continues in verse twelve races I will be merciful to their unrighteousness and there sends in their new equities will I remember no more now we got such as law into her mind and rights his launch your hearts how what's let's just have a biblical definition of how good God 's law is if you get a Romans chapter seven and Romans chapter seven we see in verse twelve and Roman Sunburst promises wherefore the law 's holy and the commandment holy just and good and the waiter Ron Paul in the bedrooms talked about how the law the law of liberty so God 's law is holy just and yet somehow in today's society people look at the bonds and think of it in a bad way and think that if you try to keep it that's legalism and yet what God is saying here is what I'm taking matters into my own hands I have the power you will let me to write my lot which is holy just and good which by the way the transcript of his character because we see the book of Exodus that God 's character that he slowly just and good so the laws fully just and good which is a transcript of God 's character and it's written in our hearts in our minds and because this new covenant experience that Paul's writing about takes place after the cross stuff people say that the law was nailed to the cross visible that of a problem here because this law that was apparently known to the cross according to them God is taking in writing and will will enter the hearts and minds of the people after the cross so how could something a been nailed to the cross if it's being written in our hearts and minds of the new covenant experience with God that is a make any sense the speaking so now if you believe that the lot was nailed to the cross you've got some serious explaining to be about with the new covenant is because God is riding his law which is holy just and good and in the hearts and minds of his people and as we stated earlier if you have a lot of the transcript of his characters being written in their hearts and minds that means that Christ is coming and in the hearts and minds of the people so this is describing a spiritual inward holy experience in which God writes his law and our hearts and minds now doesn't disconnect to what we talked about earlier in the chapter versus eight versus one C sure it does Jesus is the high priest seated on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens a minister in the century and the true tabernacle which the Lord Fichter not man what's he doing as our high Priest is the author and finisher of our faith what is needed is the author and finisher of our faith he helped us to run the race with patients that set before us laying aside every weight in the simplest of so easily beset us the health system will come to him so we can finish the race so that when we get again we have the faith of Jesus and we see a group of people in Revelation fourteen true habitations of the same they have the faith of Jesus and oh by the way they keep the commandments of God which is the new covenant experience of Hebrew chapter eight percent so Jesus is our high priest who is also the author and finisher of our faith is empowering a group of people to have patience through the trials of life to be obedient to his commandments not to their own strength that through his power because he writes his law in your hearts and minds and if his laws written in our hearts minds and obviously really keep his commandments and for keeping his commandments we are exercising the same faith that Jesus exercised when he was here on this earth so he can be a merciful and faithful high priest is because he went through the experience he took upon himself our human nature and because of that he gives us the power to run the same rate him him but here's law and your hearts and minds so the connections he getting stronger they keep getting more powerful the new covenant experience is not just log onto Ryan's law into my heart and mine how does I happen while we lay aside every weight loss in which the so easily beset us all how we do that we looking to Jesus happens when we looking to Jesus while he is the author and finisher of our faith he endured the cross despising the shame and now he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God and he asks us to do the same thing but here's what's interesting Jesus says to the church away to see in Revelation three to send that over like a rant to sit with me in my throne at the sanctuary seated even as I also overcame and sat down with my father and consumer so the message to Laodicea adjustment our people 's overcome as I overcame and if you do yoga to be seated at the throne of God just as I am with Jesus during the throne of God these are high priest in heaven as the author and finisher of faith ministering on our behalf to get a group of people to have the new covenant spirit to run hit rates of patients with seven fours pretty clear and God rates of the second Advent movement so he can have a group of people have the patience of the Saints keep the command forgotten the faith of Jesus or in other words to have the new covenant experience for his law is written in their hearts into our hearts and HR mind notice first eleven this is interesting uses and they shall not teach every man his neighbor and every man his brother saying know the Lord for all shall know me from the least of the greatest so what was interesting is when the new covenant experience happens everyone's going to not only won't half to start with the basics and in verse twelve we talked about the seasons for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness Anderson's in there and Nick to wait iniquity well I remember no more in that he saith the new covenant he has made the first thought now that was detailed and lots of old is ready to vanish away none notice what else is part of this new covenant experience Jesus says I will be merciful to their unrighteousness and their sons and their iniquities will I remember no more sauna most basic level what happens in the new covenant experience when Jesus remembers our iniquities no more he forgives her sense so we have forgiveness of sins he's merciful to us that Jesus says he will remember our sends no more house of possible for Jesus to remember our sins no more I heard Ralph said is a finalist so there is a record of our sins in heaven if you look at the century services there was just look at the old covenant earthly century system you have on a daily basis of a sacrificial offering and that blood would go to the holy place it would be sprinkled on the veil between the holy multiplex that blood would defile the sanctuary and then on the Day of atonement the sanctuary would need cleansing and on the date of sanctuary with clans which was the day of atonement those sins would be remembered no more when they were blotted out and uses the same as high priest in the sanctuary in heaven when the new covenant experience takes place one of my roles as high priest will be to blot out the sins of my people so that there simply be remembered no more and when I happens the sanctuary in heaven will become one when Ellen in Adams theology that that process began in eighteen forty four and we also know that this trust will be completed when the something got people are blotted out so the question then is when we listen the gods people be blotted out well when God was written in their hearts and minds when the last when a group of people can have the new covenant experienced by looking in the Jesus the author and finisher of their faith who is also their merciful and faithful high priest so that they run the race that is set before them namely to have patience obedience and the faith of Jesus so what is Jesus trying to do in the heavenly sanctuary he is trying to get a current group of people to finish the race so the sanctuary so that our sins can be blotted out so that he can come back and sense of increased Hubie King and King of kings and Lord of lords and when he has a grip people like that he will come back a second time so in the meantime she has her merciful and faithful high priest is imploring us as a group of people to look into him the author and finisher of our faith who is also our merciful and faithful high priest so that he can write his law and there are hearts and minds so that he can blot out our sins at the end of the judgment as of the zero grip of the aggregate people Leonard and forty four thousand who have the patience of the same to keep the commandment forgot in the face of Jesus and in Hebrews twelve if you continuing on after verse two we see looking to Jesus the author and finisher of faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame as set out the right hand of the throne of God first recess for consider sin to wind your such contradiction of sinners against himself lest he be wearied and faint in your minds and the notice verse forces he had not yet insisted on some blood striving against sin so why do we not have any have an experience why has God 's law not been written in our hearts Mike were not willing to completely look to Jesus the author and finisher of faith and she resists them in the blood striving against a look at them sometimes but then there's a few things that really tickets off than we what the old man of sin that we been setting about the Romans class rise and Christ can't write longer hearts and minds and he can't let our sins so what we do we consider him we consider Jesus a file might suspend the thoughtful hour each day considering final moments of his life with him and pilots core judgment hall look at them as he's being spat upon bodies being mock forties being beaten keep when he was reviled reviled not again we Saturday threatened not recommended all the heavy judges righteously at first Peter King and Jesus gives us the example sitter that's how we are to liberalize as new covenant Christians as Seventh-day Adventists after reading forty four actually alter history that especially the seven patents living after eighteen forty four in this Earth 's history Jesus is a merciful and faithful high priest is also the author and finisher of our faith set out the right hand of the throne of God he wants to come in your hearts is the latest in keeping with his longer hearts and minds and so I pray that we will have that experience of letting Jesus come in letting him write his longer hearts and minds letting them be the author and finisher of our faith so that we can go home with him very soon so thank you very much we will study Hebrews in nine next week that's a very important chapter in the book of Hebrews for understanding the sanctuary message
