00:00 Holy Father in Heaven, as I attempt to do a spiritual work I ask You, dear God, to grant me the aid and the support of Your Spirit, the Spirit of truth, dear God, and that's what I want to speak. Help me to do so with no interest in self-exaltation but keep me mindful, dear God, of Isaiah 42:8 “I am the Lord [YHWH]: that is My name: My glory will I not give to another…” And so, Father, take every iota of glory but give us every available blessing. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

In 1 Corinthians 10:1 the Bible says, “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant…” God does not want His people ignorant. In 1 Corinthians 12:1 the Bible says, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.” In 1 Thessalonians 4:13 concerning them which are asleep “I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren.” Paul repeatedly either condemns ignorance or promotes the pursuit of knowledge. “Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?” [1 Corinthians 6:15] “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost?” [1 Corinthians 6:19] He's always stressing the importance of knowing. Our theme is the one soul audience. This morning I spoke about a personal god and many of us made decisions to have that relationship with a personal god. Having made that decision what do I need to do to preserve that relationship? Marriage counselors always tell couples: communicate, forgive each other, do this, do that, to preserve the relationship. How does one preserve the relationship on a one to one [1-1] basis with Jesus Christ? In Jeremiah 9:23-24 the Bible says, “Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me…” this means that the knowledge of God should be of the highest value to us (Amen!)—not simply an intellectual agreement that God exists; but a knowledge that is the foundation of a vital ongoing relationship with an intelligent personal being. “Let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth Me, that he knoweth Me”—without that knowledge no one can have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The priority of a child of God is an ongoing pursuit of an ever deeper knowledge of Christ and who He is. John 17:3 Jesus on praying to the Father, He said, “This is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.” We are called upon to know God. In Philippians 3:7 Paul says, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8Yea doubtless, I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord.” What was it he counted as a loss? Philippians 3:5 “Circumcised the 8th day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.” Now these things meant the whole world to any self respecting Jewish man: circumcised the 8th day, as Jesus was; of the stock of Israel, God's chosen people; of the tribe of Benjamin, that was the tribe that went ahead whenever Israel fought, the tribe from which Saul came; a Hebrew of the Hebrews, many Hebrews could no longer speak Hebrew. Paul is saying I am a Hebrew not just by ethnic origin, I can speak the language. Most of them spoke Greek and something else. As touching the law, a Pharisee; known for the meticulousness with which they kept the Law of God—not impressive to God but impressive to man. Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. And Paul looks at this scintillating resume of spiritual achievement, in the eyes of man, and he says, what “things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8Yea doubtless, I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may [know Him].” [Philippians 3:7-8] My brothers and sisters, what do you treasure that keeps you from knowing Christ? Is it the academic degree you are pursuing that gives you no time for the study of God's word? You would be better off counting that pursuit of a degree as dung because it will not advance you into God's Kingdom. Notice, I said, if it gets in the way of your ongoing knowledge of your Savior. Is it a pursuit of a career, money, a boyfriend, a girlfriend? Paul says all these things that were valuable to me I regarded them as dung. Why? in the light of the possibility of acquiring “the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection.” [Philippians 3:8-10] Paul wanted to know Jesus because to know Him is to love Him. My brothers and sisters, religion is a person; spirituality is a person; salvation is a person; grace is a person; life is a person; truth is a person; faith is a person. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:30 “But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made into us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” Jesus Christ is our wisdom; Jesus Christ is our sanctification; Jesus Christ is our redemption; Jesus Christ is our righteousness. He said at the grave of Lazarus “I am the resurrection, and the life.” [John 11:25] Jesus Christ is life. He Himself said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” How should I live my life? The way is Christ and this is not some symbolic expression I am speaking literally: the way is Christ. “I AM the way.” What truth? “I AM the truth.” What life? “I AM the life.” What wisdom should guide me? “I AM the wisdom.” What righteousness should I pursue? “I AM the righteousness.” So for every question the Christian has, the answer begins with Christ: a man who is God, as I said this morning; and a personal relationship with Christ involves a continual pursuit of an ever intimate level of knowledge of Him. In the book of John—and I always recommend John for someone who doesn't know Jesus—John 20:26 “And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27Then saith He to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God. 29Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. 30And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name.” John is saying, I wrote this book for the single purpose of drawing the reader to Christ. We may say all 66 books have that purpose; yes, but all 66 do not express it as specifically as John. If you study my gospel you will be drawn to Christ. Once again: 30And many other signs—miracles, John saw Jesus do all kinds of miracles. But he selected just a few. This is research: looking at your sources and choosing wisely. And his conclusion was led by the Spirit: if the reader studies these the conclusion will be a relationship with Christ. And so I recommend to anyone who wants to know Christ better—because we have the synoptic gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They generally give the same view of Christ; I say generally, John is so different—his is not synoptic. His view of Christ is entirely different. It is more lofty. It is more Himalayan. It is soaring. And so John says, you read my gospel and the result will be a relationship with Jesus Christ. And so I always recommend John as the basis for discovering who Jesus is, who He was, and who He will always be because a relationship with Christ is based on knowing Jesus. “This is life eternal, that they might know Thee.” [John 17:3] If we knew Christ the way we should, the things we do we wouldn't do. There's a rhyme about snakes “red and black” venom lack [milk or king snakes]; “black and yellow” kill a fellow [coral snakes’ black and yellow bands touch each other]. You have poisonous snakes in California. We don't have that many in Michigan. If you don't know that the coral snake is poisonous you just see bright colors and you pick it up to make a necklace and you die. But if you receive knowledge about that snake, “black and yellow” kill a fellow, your behavior changes. To the woman at the well Jesus said, [John 4:7] “Give me to drink...  9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto Him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it was that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.” Jesus is saying because you don't know who I am your behaving the way you are. As I said earlier, we do not know God as we should. If we knew God as we should our behaviors would change, our attitude to church would change, our attitude to the study of God's word would change, this [the Bible] would become our priority, a relentless pursuit of the knowledge of God the way people pursue money and romantic relationship and degrees and careers and fame and fortune. True Bible study is a full time job. It is not “Do I have 5 minutes to spare?” True Bible study is a full time job. It's all day in addition to whatever else you have to do—accountant, doctor, mother, father, whatever else you have to do—this [the Bible] should dominate your life. A pursuit of the knowledge of Jesus because that knowledge saves, ennobles, empowers, enlightens, liberates, and transforms the person into the very image of the One being studied. And so we read in 2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord”—Ellen White in Fundamentals of Christian Education, page 480, para. 1 quoting the same verse she writes, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory”—and she puts in brackets—“[from character to character]”—because glory is character. [FE 480.61:1] So as we behold Jesus—Paul says, “Consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:3. As we behold Jesus—and the only way to behold Jesus is through the Word of God—we are changed mysteriously. Let me turn that coin: if you behold the devil you will change mysteriously into his image. If you persistently behold pornography you will be changed into that image. If you consistently behold violence you slowly mysteriously imperceptibly, but surely, will be changed into that image. It is a law that is unbreakable; regardless of the object one beholds. If you behold it, it will change the mind. And so the Bible says, Beholding Christ we are changed into His glory, “into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” [2 Corinthians 3:18] And so tonight, I place before you the challenge of making the study of the life of Christ a priority. When Jesus spoke in Luke 17:28 He said, “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded.” In Noah’s day “They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage.” [Luke 17:27] Combine the two: eat, drink, plant, build, buy, sell, marry, given in marriage. None of them is a sin, in and of itself. But what was the outcome for those engaged in those activities? Lost. How can you be lost giving your daughter in marriage? How can you be lost pursuing a business? How can you be lost for doing something God invented like eating and drinking? When those things supplant Christ in the life and He is no longer the priority. My brothers and sisters, church membership qualifies no one for a place in God's kingdom because the people who said “Crucify Him” were church members. The Roman said, “I find no fault in Him.” The church members said, “Crucify Him.” It is membership in Jesus Christ that qualifies you and me for a place in His kingdom. I am appealing to you in the presence of Heaven and earth: do not lose Heaven because of a job. Don't lose a place in God's kingdom because of another degree you want. Don't lose your place at Christ’s side because of a romantic relationship. Think of what Christ paid. Think of what He gave up for your salvation—at an individual level. And let that realization change the way you and I think if Christ gave that up for me. “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” [Matthew 13:45] What is all that he had? ALL that he had. So when Christ came He represented the gift of God: All that God had for our salvation. What response does God need from us? All that we have for His glory. Make a decision. I got a text from a classmate of mine from Oakwood many years ago...another classmate just died recently, suddenly. No one expects to die. Precious, Precious—I call her my—cousin just died two days ago in Michigan...gone. Someone’s blood vessel burst in the brain; the person's on life support system…just like that. We don’t know. We just don't know but there is an arrogance in us which says, I will be alive tomorrow because I say so. That's the foundation of procrastination. Today’s Monday—I have a task due on Monday, I'll turn it on Wednesday. Why? I'll be alive on Wednesday. Who said so? I said so. But if we live as God would have us live: one day at a time, as if today is the last then surely our behavior should change, our attitude should change, and Christ the Life Giver, Christ the Life Sustainer, Christ the Lover of our souls would become our priority. My brothers, my sisters, take time to get to know Jesus. I talk to young people all over the world and the things they do to meet their boyfriends and girlfriends: stay out late, incur the wrath of their parents, jump out the bedroom window two floors down, all kinds of things to go see this young man or this young woman. Not one iota of effort to get to know Jesus. Are you a Christian? Oh, yes. Do you love Jesus raise your hand, raise both hands? What effort do you make? None. And so Jesus says of us, This people with their lips do honor Me, but their hearts are far from Me. [Isaiah 29:13] Tonight let Jesus say, This people honoureth Me with their hearts and their lips follow their hearts. Get to know Jesus. You will like Him. There are people I love that I don't like. There are people I love but I don't particularly like. By that I mean, I don't yearn to spend time with them but I love them by command. “These things I command you, that ye love one another.” John 15:17. So I love them but I don't particularly like them. I wouldn’t drive from New York to Los Angeles with them—no, no, no. That would be the time of trouble. I wouldn't do that. But if you study Jesus' life you will not simply love Him, you will like Him. You want Him with you wherever you go because even though you can’t see Him, He is present. “I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.” [John 14:18] So I offer you, I recommend, beginning tonight: take some time to get to know Jesus. Our High Calling, page 116, para. 2 Ellen White writes “Your last thought at night, your first thought in the morning, should be of Him in whom is centered your hope of eternal life.” [OHC 116.110:2] One of the frustrations of making appeals is that they are so much a part of every service that people just raise their hands, reflexively, automatically, instinctively. I don't want that because every time you raise your hand it's recorded in heaven and one day when you face judgment: Well, why did you raise your hand and do something else? The message to Laodicea: I would thou wert cold or hot. [Revelation 3:15] Don't be lukewarm. I'm asking you, in the name of Jesus, make time in your lives to study the life of your Savior. How many will say, Lord, help me to make that time to study the life of my Savior? May I see your right hand? Stand up with me, please. We pray. We go. Help me, dear God, because there's a power opposing You: that's the power of the devil; but the power of God is far greater than the power of the devil. (Amen!) So while there's a power opposing us our focus must not be on the opposing power, our focus must be on the power of God. You've stood to say, Father, help me to find time to study the life of my Savior. Here's a guarantee: if you do that sincerely and consistently, your life will begin to change. Mysteriously you will have no more interest in certain television programs or certain people or certain activities. They will lose their appeal. The things of this world will grow strangely dim in the light of the glory of Jesus Christ. Heads bowed. Eyes closed.

Dear God, I pray from the foundation of my soul that You would place an impression of a crushing weight upon every mind. The impression that it is necessary, a matter of life and death, to know Jesus Christ. His own words in John 17:3 “This is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.” Father, to know Christ is to know You. So we're not really studying two people when we study Jesus but we learn about You because He that hath seen Me, says Christ, hath seen the Father. [John 14:9] The only way to know You, dear God, is to study Jesus. And so, God, Your sons and Your daughters—at least that's how we describe ourselves—have stood to say, Help us to make time to study the life of our Savior. Begin to give us that attitude, that aptitude, that desire, right where we stand, dear God. Let the last thing on our minds tonight be a scripture that has to do with Jesus. Dear God, let Your Spirit work in our hearts and on our minds. Let our greatest love be our love for the knowledge of Jesus. Let us fall literally in love with this Man who is also God so that He crowds out everything else from our lives. Let everything else become peripheral and secondary as Christ becomes primary and central. Let the angels at Christ’s command watch over us tonight as we sleep. If it pleases you, dear God, to give us life in the morning, let us immediately commit that life to You. And let us use the life for Your glory. Take us safely now to our tents, our rooms, where ever we're going. Thank You for loving us. Dear God, thank You for putting up with all our nonsense and help us to remember that even the infinite God has a limit to His patience. Thank You for Your love. We love You despite the way we treat You. We love Jesus. Thank You for His sacrifice. We offer this prayer in His name and through the leading of His Spirit. Amen and amen.

In the Jeremiah Chapter nine. Verse twenty three and twenty four The Bible says Thus if the Lord let not the wise man glory in his wisdom neither let the mighty man glory in his might let not the rich man glory in his riches but let him that glory of glory in this that he understand it and no Wish me. What was it he counted as a loss for us five or six. Circumcised if day of the stalk of his rile of the tried. The Benjamin and Hebrew of the Hebrews as touching the law of how to see concerning seal persecuting the church touching the righteous is in the law blameless. Now these things meant the whole world to any self respecting Jewish man. Circumcised if they like Jesus was of the stock of his round God's chosen people of the tribe of Benjamin That was the tribe that went ahead whenever Israel stopped the driver with Saul came a Hebrew of the Hebrews many Hebrews could no longer speak Hebrew. Bawly say I am a Hebrew not just by ethnic origin I can speak the language most of them spoke Greek and something else as touching the law or C. known for the meticulousness with which they kept the Law of God not impressive to God but impressive demand concerning zeal persecuting the church as touching the righteous as in the law blame less and Paul in looks at this scintillating race you may of spiritual achievement in the eyes of man and he says what things would gain to me those I counted loss for Christ yet doubtless I count all things but loss of the excellent sea of them knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but done that I may know him. My brothers and sisters what is it that keeps you from knowing Christ. That you treasure. Is in the academic degree you are pursuing that has given you no time for the study of God's word. You would be better off counting that pursuit of a degree as down. Because it will not adventure into God's Kingdom Notice I said. If it gets in the way of your ongoing knowledge of your safety or is it a pursuit of a career money a boyfriend or girlfriend Paul says for me all of these things that were valuable to me I regard divan as done why in the light of the possibility of acquiring the excellent C. of the law of Christ Jesus my Lord. For whom I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them but don't know that I may win Christ and be found in him not having my own righteousness which is of the law but that which is through despaired of Christ the righteousness which is of God by faith that I may nor him. And the power of His resurrection Paul wanted to know Jesus because the law aim is story love him my brothers or sisters religion is a person. Who set out again perhaps differently spirituality is a person. Salvation is. A person. Grace is a person. Life is a person Truth is a person. Faith is a person the Bible says Him First Corinthians one thirty but of him are you in Christ Jesus who is God is made into us wisdom and righteousness and scientific ation and redemption Jesus Christ is our wisdom Jesus Christ is our sanctification Jesus Christ is our redemption Jesus Christ is our righteousness he said of the grave of last US I am the resurrection and the life Jesus Christ is life. He himself said in John fourteen six I am the Way the Truth and the. Right what way should I live how should I live my life the way is Christ. And this is not some symbolic expression I am speaking literally the way is Christ I am the way. Most truth I am the truth what light I am the light what wisdom should guide me I am the wisdom. What righteousness should I pursue I am the righteousness so for every question the Christian ask the answer begins with Christ. A man. Who is God As I said this morning and a personal relationship with Christ involves a continual pursuit of an effort into making a level of knowledge of him. In the book of John and I always recommend John for someone who doesn't know Jesus. In John twenty after Jesus appeared a second time to the disciples and Judas was with then Jesus appeared to those being shot and said into them being shut Peace be unto you then safely into Thomas Riccio that I single and behold I have Henry said I hand and thrust it into my side had been off faithless but believing Thomas answered him seven to him My Lord and My God Jesus saith unto him Thomas because that has seen the has to believe first twenty knight of John eighty Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed now the last two forces of John twenty go like this and many other sometimes truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples which are not written in this book Listen Again this is John many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples including John which are not written in this book but these are. Written. That he may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God have I believing you might have life through his name what is John saying I wrote this book sort of single purpose of drawings the reader to Christ now we may say all sixty six books have that purpose Yes but all sixty six do not express it as specifically as John if you study my gospel you will be drawn to Christ listen again many other sides truly did Jesus sides meaning miracles John saw Jesus do all kinds of miracles. But he selected just a few. This is research you see him looking at your sources and choosing wisely. And his conclusion was led by the Spirit if the reader studies these. The conclusion will be a relationship with Christ and so I recommend to anyone who wants to know Christ better because we have the synoptic gospels Matthew Mark Luke and John there generally give the same view of Christ I say generally John is so different he is not one of the Synoptics. His view is crisis entirely different it is more lost he it is more Himalaya than it is shoring. Has soared John says you read my gospel and the result will be a relationship with Jesus Christ and so I always recommend Jabal. As the basis for discovering who Jesus is who he was who will always be because a relationship with Christ is based on knowing Jesus this is a life eternal that him might nosy. If people knew got. Christ or should I say if we knew Christ the way we should the things we do we wouldn't do. There's a saying about was there snake red on black when a black red on yellow kill a fellow you heard that say you have poisonous snakes in California we don't have that many Micheel I was a snake all the is the Diamondback some not know not the rattler. The what the coral snake is a well some snake and now you say you don't know are you with me the snake is poisonous you just see bright colors and you pick it up to make a necklace are you following me. You die but even you receive knowledge about that snake red and yellow kill a fellow your behavior changed. The woman of the well Jesus said give me to drink the woman servant to him How is it the foul being a Jew ask is drink of me which I am a woman of some area for the Jews have no dealings of a so matters as Jesus said to her if that newest. The gift of God and who it was that said until he give me to drink that would have of asked of him and he would have given the living water Jesus is saying because you don't know who I am your behaving the way you are what did I say earlier we do not know God as we should. If we knew God as we should i would be here if yours would change our attitude to church which change our attitude to the study of God's Word which change this would become our priority a really cute of the knowledge of God the way people pursue money. And relationships are. Mental ones and degrees and careers and same and fortune do you understand that true Bible studies a full time job. It is not Do I have five minutes to spare true Bible study is a full time job. It's all day in addition to whatever else you have to do an accountant your doctor your mother your father what ever else you have to do this. Should dominate your life. A pursuit of the knowledge of Jesus because that knowledge transforms it saves it ennobles it empowers it enlightens it in the Brits and it transforms the person into the very image of the one being studied him so we read in second Corinthians reversed eighteen but we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the spirit of the Lord from glory to glory L. A light writes in fundamentals of Christian education page four eighty paragraph one according to very first he says we all with open space beholding as in the glass the glory of the Lord our change in the same image from glory to glory and when she writes from glory to glory she puts in brackets from Kalak to the capital. Because glory is character are you with me so as are we behold Jesus ousts you know process consider him that endured self contradiction of sin as against themselves yes evil less to be wearied and feed in your minds Hebrews twelve I believe first three as we behold Jesus and the only. Way to behold Jesus is through the Word of God. We are changed. Mysteriously. Let me turn that coin. If you behold the devil you will change mysteriously into his image. If you persistently behold pornography you will be changed into that image if you consistently behold violence you were slowly mysteriously imperceptibly but surely be changed into that image it is a law that is unbreakable regardless of the object of beholding if you behold it it affects the mind. And sort of bible says behold in Christ we are change into his glory into the same image from glory to glory even as by the spirit of the Lord and sort of might. I. Place before you the challenge. Of making a study of the life of Christ a priority. About a quarter to twelve to nine. When Jesus spoke and look seventeen he said as it likewise also first twenty eight look seventeen as it was in the days of Lot. They did it they drank they bought their sold they planted they build it. In no Was day they had it it they drank they married wives they were given a man's You combine the two you have eat drink plant bills buy sell marry give in marriage. None of them is a sin in and of itself. But what was the outcome for those engaged in those activities and. Asked. How can you be lost giving your daughter in marriage. How do you have a loss pursuing a business. How can it be lost for doing something God invented eating and drinking. When those things supplant Christ in the life and he is no longer a priority. My brothers and sisters church membership qualifies no one for a place in God's kingdom. Because the people who said course if I him were church members. The Roman said I find no fault in him the church member said what course of life. It is membership in Jesus Christ that qualifies you and me for a place in his kingdom I am appealing to you in the presence of heaven on earth do not lose heaven because of a job. Don't lose a place in God's kingdom because of another degree you want. Don't lose your place at Christ side because of a romantic relationship. Think of what Christ paid Finke of what he gave up see your salvation at an individual level. And lets not realization change the way you and I think if Christ gave up that for me. The kingdom of heaven is like unto merchant man sick in goodly pearls who when he had found one of Great Price went and sold what all that he had and bought it. What is all that he had all that he had. So when Christ came he represented the gift of God All that God. AD So our salvation. What response does God need from us all that we have for His glory. Make a decision. I got a text from a classmate of mine from opened many years ago another classmate have. Just died recently suddenly. No one expects to die. Precious precious calling my cousin who just died two days ago Michigan. And. Gone. Some on a blood vessel burst in the brain the person's a life support system just like. We don't know. We just don't know. But there is evidence to us which says I will be alive tomorrow because I say so. That's the foundation of procrastination. There's Monday I have a task due on Monday I'll turn it on Wednesday why I'll be alive on Wednesday who said so I said so. But if we do live as God would have us live one day at a time as if today is the last then surely our behavior should change our attitude should change and Christ the life giver of Christ the life sustaining Christ the love of our souls would become our priority my brothers my sisters take time to get to know Jesus. You know I I talk to young people all over the world and the things they do to meet their boyfriends and girlfriends stay out late. Incurred the wrath of their parents. Jump out the bedroom window two floors down and all kinds of things to go see this young man or this young woman. Not one iota of effort to get to know Jesus. Are you a Christian or yes you love Jesus raise your hand raised both hands. What ever do you make not. And so Jesus says of us this people are with me how with their lips finish the verse but their hearts are. Tonight ledge easer say this people out of me with their hearts and their lips follow their hearts get to know Jesus you will like him. You know you like him you know the people I love I don't like. And I lost. You know there are people I love I don't particularly like by that I mean I don't yearn to spend time with them but I love them by command This is my command work that I love one another John sixteen twelve and last fifteen seventeen but so I love them but I don't particularly like them I would write from New York to Los Angeles with the mill No no no no. That be the time of trouble I wouldn't do that. But I'm saying if you study Jesus's life you will not simply love him you will like him. You want him with you wherever you go. Because even though you can see him he is present I will not leave you comfortless I will come to. Him so I offer you I recommend beginning to might. Take some time. Get to know she said us. Our high calling page one sixteen paragraph two a life writes ya. The last thought at night the office first thought in the Morning should be of him in whom is centered your hope of eternal life. I calling page one sixteen paragraph two a beautiful quotation let me give it to you again your last thought at night your first thought in the Morning should be of him in whom ascended You hope of eternal life let me ask you one of the frustrations of making appeals they are so much a part of every service people just raise their heads. Reflexive Lee automatically instinctively I. Don't want that. Because every time you raise your hand it's recorded in heaven. And one day you face in the judgement Well you raise your hand you did something else why did you raise was a message slow to see I was there were cold or hot Don't be lukewarm now I'm asking you in the name of Jesus make time in your lives to study the life of your savior how many will say Lord help me to make that time to study the life of my savior messy all right at stand up with me please we pray we go. Help me to God because there's a power opposing you that's the power of the devil but the power of God is far greater than the power of the devil somebody say a man so while there's a power opposing us our focus must not be on the opposing power our focus must be on the power of God. You'll start to say Father help me to find time. To study the life of my Savior. Here's a guarantee. If you do that. Sincerely. Consistently your life will begin to change. You will find mysteriously you have no more interest in certain television programs. Or certain people. Or certain activities they will lose their appeal. The things of this world will do out grow strangely dim in the light. Of the glory of Jesus Christ his bowels ice closed their god. I pray from the foundation of my soul. That you would place an impression of a crushing weight upon every mind. The impression that it is necessary it is a matter of new life and death to know Jesus Christ. His own words of John seventeen three this is a life eternal that they might know V.V. only true God had Jesus Christ and that has sent him father to know Christ is to know you so we're not really studying two people when we study two by studying one because he that have seen me says Christ has seen the Father the only way to know you to God is to study Jesus. And so God Your sons and your daughters. At least that's how we describe ourselves have to say help us to make that time to study the life of our Savior begin to give us that attitude that attitude that desire right where we stand to God level last thing I will buy still might be a scripture that has to do with Jesus their god. Let the Spirit work in our hearts. On I will mines let our greatest love be our love for the knowledge of Jesus let us fall literally in love with this man who is also God. So that he crowds out rethink else from our lives everything else becomes peripheral and secondary as Christ becomes primary and central. Let the angels of Christ command watch over us tonight as we sleep if it pleases you to God to give us life in the morning let us immediately commit that life to you. And let us use the life for your glory. Take us to our tents our rooms where we're going now safely thank you for loving us may God thank you for putting us with all our nonsense but help us to remember even the infinite God has a limit to his patients thank you for your love. We love you despite the way we treat you we love Jesus thank you for sacrifice we offer this prayer in his name to the leading of his spirit.
