In the summer of 2012, Lucia and her husband, James, started growing microgreens. They were looking for a way to add household income, and with elder care keeping Lucia at home most of the time, she also needed home-based work with flexible hours. With helpful advice from the Byron Smith family, they soon launched a certified organic business from their rural Michigan home.
