Rebuilding the Temple

Hey kids. Welcome to Juniors for Jesus. Go grab your Bibles. We're gonna be digging in and learning some really exciting stories. Let's get started. This week we have the happy story about the Jews being released from their captivity in Balin and going back to rebuild Jerusalem. Our lesson is called Rebuilding the Temple Memory verse Isaiah one, verse 18. Come now and let us reason together says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as wide as snow. Though they are red, light crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah one verse 18, Thursday, robe of righteousness Zacharia. Three, the visions God gave Zacharia encouraged the Jews in rebuilding the temple. In one of his visions, he saw Joshua, the high priest standing in front of Jesus. Satan was there accusing him, but what did Jesus say to Satan? Zacharia three versus one and two. You can find zacharia among the books of the minor prophets. They're at the very end of the Old Testament, Zeniah, Haggai, Zacharia, and then Malachi. So Zacharia is the book just before Malachi. Then he showed me Joshua, the high priest, standing before the angel of the Lord in Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. And the Lord said to Satan, the Lord rebuke you. Satan, the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. Is this not a brand plucked from the fire? Joshua represented God's people and he was wearing filthy clothes that represented his sins and the sins of the people, but he and the people had confessed those sins and he was pleading with God to forgive them. Besides rebuking Satan, how did God show his eagerness to forgive versus three through five? Now, Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and was standing before the angel. Then he answered and spoke to those who stood before him, saying, take away the filthy garments from him and to him, he said, see, I have removed your iniquity from you and I will cloth you with rich ropes. And I said, let them put a clean turbine on his head. So they put a clean turbine on his head and they put the clothes on him. And the angel of the Lord stood by. Satan still tries to discourage people by tempting them to think God hasn't forgiven their sins. Even children feel discouraged about that sometimes. But what does God say about forgiving our sins? One John one, nine. You can find one John at the very end of the New Testament. It's first John, second, John, third John, Jude, and then Revelation. If we confess our sins, he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, Then the next time we sin, Satan says, see, you did it again. You'll never be good enough, no matter how hard you try. That's right. We can never make ourselves good enough by just trying hard enough. But Jesus is good enough. He never sinned. He always chose to resist the devil and not do his human will, but God's will. John five verse 30. But what about us? Jesus never sinned, but we have all sinned. And Satan accuses us like he accused Joshua. But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. And if we pray often and depend on Jesus like he depended on his Father, he will give us power to resist the devil. Two. James four, verse seven. James is in the New Testament as well. It's right after the book of Hebrews. Therefore, submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. First, we give ourselves to God, and then we must remember to resist Satan's temptations and call on Jesus for strength. We choose to be loyal to Jesus, and then with the power of Jesus life living in us, we can do God's will instead of our sinful human will. But how can we always have Jesus living in us? Find the answer in Psalm 16, verse eight, and Psalm 119, verse 11. Remember, Psalms is near the middle of the Bible. I have set the Lord always before me because he is at my right hand and I shall not be moved. Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you, Apply it. The filthy garments, Joshua War represent our sinful lives. But God removed them and clothed him with rich robes, and they represent Jesus robe of righteousness covering us. Isaiah 61 10.
