Hello friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together praising him. I think this is such a happy song, not just because of the tune, but because it talks about sunshine in spring, happiness, hope and love. Those are such happy thoughts and that's what we can have when we give our hearts to Jesus and let him live inside of us. Soul shine happy moments. Smiling. Face is sunshine. Blessing when sunshine. Sunshine, Welcome to hide his word, a special program where we take a few minutes to hide God's word in our hearts. Let's go ahead and get started. Can you say Psalm 91 with me? Let's try it together. He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God. In him I will trust. Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the Fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with his feathers and under his wings you shall take refuge. His truth shall be your shield. And butler, you shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste. At noon day. A thousand may fall at your side and 10,000 at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look and see the reward of the wicked because you have made the Lord who is my refuge. Even the most high. Your dwelling place know evil shall be follow you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways, in their hands, they shall bear you up, bless you, dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent. You shall trample underfoot because he has set his love upon me. Therefore, I will deliver him. I will set him on high because he has known my name. He shall call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him with long life. I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. Good. Now let's review Psalm 23. Can you say it? The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yay. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Shirley, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Great job. Let's go to our Bible lesson. Hello boys and girls, welcome back as we continue this story about the king of Israel. He's in some trouble, isn't he? Yes, he is stuck inside of his city. The city of Samaria, the Syrian army are encamped all around outside waiting for everyone to starve so that then they give up and they surrender and the Syrians will be in charge. But what's going to happen? God told Elisha that something was going to happen and that this wouldn't last much longer. The very next day everything would be back to normal. Let's find out in just a second. But first we're going to pray. Lord, be with us and guide us and help us as we study this story. Help us to trust in you, to trust in your promises. In Jesus' name, amen. Inside the city of Samaria, the people are starving. In fact, they're even eating each other, which we say that they would be cannibals cuz they're eating other people. But God had promised food. So how's he going to keep this promise? It seems impossible. In fact, one of the important officers of the king said that he didn't believe it. It was impossible. Even if God reigned food down from the sky, it could not happen. Wow, that's some pretty bold words, isn't it? Outside the gate of Samaria, there were four men and they were lepers. What are lepers? People who had a skin disease and it was very contagious. And so when somebody was discovered or found to be a leper, they had to leave their family, leave their friends, they had to go live by themselves in leper colonies, and they were basically slowly dying. So you have these four lepers and they're sitting outside of the gate. Why are they outside? Because nobody wanted them inside infecting everybody. So they're sitting there outside and they're talking together. Let's look at Second Kings, chapter seven verse three. So we're going to second kings. It's after one kings before first Chronicles, second kings chapter seven. And then we're gonna read verse three. The book of second kings is divided up into chapters. Those are numbered big numbers. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. We're in six. And then the little numbers are under those big numbers. Those are the verses that the chapter is divided into. So we're going to second kings chapter six, seven, not six, seven. And then verse three. Let's see what that says. Now there are full LS men at the entrance of the gate and they said to one another, why are we sitting here until we die? They knew it would be worthless to beg for food inside the city since there's no food left and nobody's gonna give them as lepers food. As they talk together, they decide, you know what? We have a plan. If it doesn't work, what difference does it make? We're gonna starve to death or we'll be killed. So let's go try it. Look at verse four. If we say we will enter the city, the famine is in the city, we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die Also. Now the therefore come let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. And if they keep us alive, we shall live. And if they kill us, we shall only die. They knew that all the options that they had were pretty bleak. If they go in the city, they'll die. If they stay here, they'll die. If they go to the Syrians and surrender, mm, I mean maybe the Syrians will let them live and feed them or maybe they'll just die. And you know what? That sounds a lot better. Let's do something. Sometimes people just have to do something. They can't just sit around waiting for something to happen. They have to be doing something. And that's what the lepers were. The lepers decided to wait until it was nearly dark. It could be because they didn't want anyone in the city to see them leaving and think that they're joining the enemy, which they were. They were gonna try. So when they got to the Syrian camp, I can just imagine them kind of like sneaking up in a way, but yet wanting them to find them and maybe where's the, where's the sentinels? The guards. And when they get there, all of a sudden they discover this eerie silence. No one is there, not one soul. Look at verse five. And they rose at Twi light to go to the camp of Syrians. But when they had come to the outskirts of the Brazilian camp to their supplies, no one was there. What had happened? Where did the enemy go? They had left everything, everything behind and they just disappeared. Look at verse six and seven. For the Lord had caused the only of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses and the the noise of a great army. So they said to one another that the King of Israel has hired against us, the kings of the hitite and the kings of the Egyptians who attacked us. Therefore, they rose and fled at Twiddly and left their camp and tat their tents, their horses and their donkeys and they fled for their lives. Who worked a miracle? God did. Yes. He caused them to hear the noises of horses, a great army and they looked at each other and basically said, oh no, the king of Israel's hired people to come fight against us. Let's get out of here. And so they rose up and they fled at twilight and left the camp everything completely intact. Once again, God had done one of his amazing miracles for his people. Even though did they deserve it? No they didn't. The hungry lepers couldn't believe their good fortune. Oh, they had food and that wasn't all. Look at verse eight. And when these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they went into one tent and Aiden drank and carried silver golden clothing and went and hid them and they came back and entered another tent and they carried some from they also and went and hid it. Not only did they have food, they had gold and silver and clothing and all these wonderful things that the people had left behind. They were pretty excited. In some ways this story, not completely, but in some ways this story reminds me of some people who work in ministry with us out here on the Navajo Nation. They live in another town and this town is a very rough town and one time they had to leave and go out of town for an extended period of time and someone else came and broke into their house and then just moved in and were living in there. They were using their clothes, they were using their furniture, they were eating their food. They basically had just come in and taken over their house like it was their very own. Many things were stolen over the period of time when they were gone and the police had to come and it was a, it was a big deal. But the while they were gone, these other people came in and just started living off of their things. You know, boys and girls. Can you remember other times when the enemies of Israel ran away just like the Syrians did? What about Gideon and his 300 men? What about Jonathan and his armor bearer? Remember the sound of marching feet and the tree tops? That was the story. With who? With David? Yeah. There are all kinds of stories where God was able to get rid of the entire enemy army very easily because God is so big and God is so powerful. And did you know that God can work in our lives? He can help us each and every day. All we have to do is ask. Dear Lord, please work in our hearts when there are enemies in our lives. Maybe not soldiers with spears and swords, but enemies of maybe bad attitudes or whining and complaining or not obey promptly when we're tempted to not do what we're supposed to do. I pray that you will help us to call to you and you'll answer. You'll help us. You'll give us the heart that wants to do what is right and that is able to do what is right. I pray that you'll work inside of us today. In Jesus' name, amen.
