The Greatest of All Our Needs

Before we begin, why don't we just bow our heads for an opening word of prayer.

Our gracious and eternal Father, into thy hands we commend our Spirit.

The title for this morning's sermon is entitled, The Greatest of All Our Needs.

It is taken from the pen of inspiration where we've been told in selected messages that a revival of true godliness, a revival of true godliness at Venhope is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs.

A revival of true godliness is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs.

I believe with all my heart that if there's ever a need in God's church, it is a need for a revival.

If there's ever a need in your life this morning, if there's ever a need in your life this weekend, it is a need for a revival of true godliness.

We don't need more money, for God owns the cattle on a thousand hills.

If there's ever a need in God's church, It is a need for a revival of true godliness.

If there's ever a need in God's church, it is a need for a revival.

This is not any kind of revival that Alan White is talking about.

This is not the kind of sensational kind of arrival, nor is this talking about the feel-good kind of revival.

But the Bible in the Spirit of Prosperity talks about a revival of true godliness, A revival of faithfulness, a revival of dependence, a revival of obedience, a revival of complete victory over sin by the grace and the power of God.

A revival that leads us to reflect the character of Christ.

This is the kind of revival that ought to be permeating in God's church today.

If there's ever a need in God's church, it is a revival of true godliness that makes us reflect the character of Christ only by His grace and His mercy.

The greatest of all our needs is a revival of true godliness.

Some people come up to me and they say, Doug, Doug, why do we need a revival?

Why do we need a revival in God's church?

Why do we need a revival in my heart and in my family?

Well, the pain of inspiration makes it clear at Ben Hope that a revival and a reformation must go hand in hand.

In other words, the Spirit of Prophecy simply teaches us there can be no reformation, there can be no change, unless it is connected with a revival.

In other words, there can be no change in your life.

There can be no change or transformation in God's church unless it is not connected to revival.

In a formulated expression, it simply means, no revival, no change.

If you're sick and tired of going through the same monotonous routine, Sabbath after Sabbath, and there's no change and transformation in your life, then I'm here to tell you this morning, there needs to be a revival in your hearts.

If there's no change in God's church, Sabbath after Sabbath, semester after semester, then there's a need in God's church for a revival.

That's why I believe with all my heart and that's why the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy makes it clear that A revival of true godliness is imperative to God's church, for connected to a revival is reformation and change.

Some people come up to me and they say, well Pastor Doug, who does God want to revive?

Well, you see, my dear friends, revival doesn't come through an object.

So Who does God choose to anoint to revive His church?

In verse 15, who does God bring about a revival?

Some people believe that God maybe blindfolds Himself and He says, listen, I'm going to choose you, I'm going to choose you, I'm going to choose you, you and you.

And whoever my finger falls upon, that's the individual that brings about a revival.

Maybe God looks at you, or raises you, and says, listen, you've been in the church long enough, maybe I can bring about a revival through you.

But the Bible makes it clear here in Isaiah 57, verse 15, There are 2 major qualifications that 1 needs to be imbued with in order for God to bring about a revival in your life.

The Bible says here, For Thus saith the High and Lofty 1, that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is holy.

Now this is the verse that I ended off of last night for those who were here last night.

Whose name is holy, God says, I dwell in the high and holy place with him that is of a what?

Of a contrite, or experiencing godly sorrow.

I dwell with those who have a contrite and what folks?

The Bible makes it clear here that God loves to dwell in our hearts and in our minds.

Why does God want to dwell in our hearts?

Why does God want a tabernacle in His church?

The Bible says here in verse 15, I dwell in the high and holy place with Him that is of a contrite and humble spirit.

The humble and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

So the Bible is clear folks that God dwells with His people to revive.

And it's very interesting that the word revive in the King James Version is only mentioned 7 times.

This tells me that if God is about to bring about a revival, He's not, He doesn't want to bring out a partial revival, but He wants to bring a complete, total, perfect revival.

He revives those, the Bible says, those who are humble and those who are what?

Those who experience godly sorrow for their sins.

Those who are humble and those who are contrite.

Listen dear friends, the Bible teaches us that if you're humble, God will revive you.

It doesn't matter how long you've been in the church.

It doesn't matter how much position you have in the church, if you're humble, God will revive you.

It doesn't matter how many monetary acquisitions you may have acquired, If you're humble, God will revive you.
