God Used It. It Worked. You Try It.

There is a verse 1 Corinthians 10, verse 13 which says, They have no temptation taken you but such as is common to man.

Meaning that whatever has happened to you has happened to someone else perhaps on the other side of the globe.

Because of our human weakness it is easy for us to lapse into the thinking why is this happening to me and to no 1 else?

Well the Bible is clear they have no temptation taking you but such as is common to man whatever you are experiencing now someone has already experienced that or is now experience it with you can God be among those who understand in detail what you and I go through from day to day or what perhaps you are going through because of some particular set of circumstances.

Jesus we understand came down and lived as a human being and this is a stupendous mystery that Christ would come in the flesh we're told in Galatians chapter 4 verse 4 but when the fullness of time was come God sent forth his son made of a woman made under the law verse 5 to redeem them that were under the law, Christ came where we were to save us.

God is not a God who is caught by surprises.

When God and the other members of the Godhead contemplated making man, this world, a plan was put in place that if these created beings should sin Jesus Christ who was not called Jesus Christ then, just a second member of the Godhead he would come as 1 of his created beings and die and by so doing pay the penalty for sin which has always been and remains death.

In devising this plan, there are 2 hurdles, possibly among others, but 2, I will stress, that God had to get over.

2 problems that God had to solve in order to provide a plan of salvation that could work The 2 problems were in order to save fallen man, sinful man, who having sinned would come under the curse of death, the God who came would have to be in a position to experience temptation and death.

For God to be a suitable Savior He had to put himself in a position where he like his fallen creatures could experience and feel what it meant to be tempted and then ultimately to put himself in a position to die and taste death.

Well very simply because God cannot be tempted and God cannot die.

Let's examine these 2 realities about God.

James chapter 1 reading from verse 13 God is not a man that he should lie no that's wrong verse, Let no man say when he's tempted I am tempted of God.

Never blame God for the weaknesses in our lives.

Let no man say when he's tempted I am tempted of the Lord for God cannot be tempted with evil neither tempted he any man God cannot be tempted and God does not tempt you now when we see the word tempt in the Bible in the context of God's activities what that word means is God is testing or trying.

And it came to pass after these things that God did tempt Abraham and said unto him, Abraham, and he said, Here am I, take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, an Offering up for a burnt offering on 1 of the mountains which I will tell thee of God tested Not tempted Abraham to sin God cannot Be tempted with evil neither tempteth he any man That's 1 reason for me right now publicly to declare God innocent of any wrongdoing in your life or mine.

There is another power that does it with our cooperation.

Because the devil cannot lead you into sin unless you and I cooperate.

There's a saying that was popular many years ago the devil made me do it.

But He cannot make you sin and He cannot make me sin.

We have to decide to follow the temptation.

He does not tempt you and He cannot be tempted Himself.

Problem number 2, God cannot die because God is eternal.

Psalm 90 reading from verse 1, Thou, Lord, thou hast been our habitation, our dwelling place from all generations before the mountains were brought forth or ever thou hath made the earth or the world even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God everlasting to everlasting Psalm 93 verse 2 thy throne is established of old thou art from everlasting.

Habakkuk 112 are thou not from everlasting O Lord my God my Holy 1 God is everlasting Jesus John 17 verse 5 and now O Father glorify Thou me with Thine own self, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was, an expression meaning from everlasting, from eternity.

Jesus has always been there because Jesus is as much God as the Father is God.

That's why we're told in Revelation 22 verse 1, and he showed me a pure river of water of life proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Revelation 22 verse 3, and there shall be no more curse for the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.

God has a throne the Son has a throne they are equal.

Revelation 3 verse 21 to him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne even as I also overcame and I'm sat down with my father on his throne.

Father has a throne, son has a throne, they're equal because the son is equal with the father.

The father is eternal, the son is eternal.

Isaiah 9 verse 6, unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given and the government of this people shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called the mighty God the everlasting father Everlasting Father is 1 of His names.

How then could He come and be our Savior?

How could He understand when we are tempted?

The Bible says in Hebrews 4 verse 15, for we have not such a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but were in all points tempted like as we are.

Whatever else the mystery may contain, understand this point clearly.

There is no temptation you can experience with which Christ cannot identify.

He was tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin.

In order to solve the problem of the inability of God to be tempted and the fact that God being God cannot die the solution was for Christ or the second member of the Godhead to come as 1 of us as a human being.

What does it mean to come as a human being?

Before Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, He did visit this earth as a human being.

In Genesis 18, reading from verse 1, the Bible says, And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre, And he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.

And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo, 3 men stood by him.

And when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door and bowed himself toward the ground.

And said, My Lord, if now I have found favor in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant.

Let little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the trees.

And I will fetch a morsel of bread and comfort ye your heart after that ye shall pass on for therefore I come to your servant." Now Abraham was talking to 3 men, Christ was 1, the other 2 were angels, he did not know.

At that point he did not know, he simply saw 3 human beings and the power and the laws of hospitality that operated in his day drove him to urge them, come to my tent.

And verse 5 ends with the men saying, and they said unto him, so do as thou hast said.

In other words, go prepare something for us to eat.

This is the second member of the Godhead, Jesus Christ and 2 angels.

And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah and said, Quick, make ready 3 measures of fine meal, knead it, and bake cakes upon the hearth.

And Abraham ran unto the herd and fetched a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a young man, and he hasted to dress it.

And verse 8 tells us, and he took butter and milk and the calf which he addressed and set it before them Christ and 2 angels.

And He stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.

Now let's jump all the way to Luke chapter 24 and see another interesting example of God eating.

This is Jesus after he rose from the grave.

Luke 24 reading from verse 36 as we continue can God feel my pain?

And as they thus speak Jesus himself stood in the midst of them and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

And they were terrified and affrighted and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

And he said unto them, Why are you troubled and why do thoughts arise in your heart?

Behold my hands and my feet that it is I myself handle me and see for a spirit hath not flesh and blood as you see me have or flesh and bones that's what Jesus said to them proved that I am real proved that I am physical like you and when he had thus spoken he showed them his hands and his feet.

23 And while they believed not for joy and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

24 He was setting out to prove he was still human, yes glorified, but still human.

He was establishing his physical humanity as different from a ghost which they thought he was and he tried to prove it not only by showing the scars but by eating.

And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish and of a honeycomb.
