We have a very interesting study in store for us today.

Just a couple of reminders, we do have a microphone for the audience.

If you read 1 of the passages of scripture or if you have a question.

So, we'll have someone in the back with a microphone.

And just raise your hand so we can get it onto the recording.

And this time let's go ahead and bow our heads for a word of prayer and we'll get started.

Father in heaven we thank you for this beautiful Sabbath morning.

We thank you for the opportunity to study from your word as we study Revelation chapter 17.

Give us more insight into the end time message you've given us.

I repeat, I pray all these things in Jesus' name.

Alright, so we are now beginning Revelation chapter 17.

Revelation chapter 17 is a very fascinating chapter and sometimes has some variable interpretations.

However, I'm going to say at the outset that if we stick to the historicist hermeneutic, it's not that difficult to figure out what Revelation 17 is all about.

The problem with Revelation 17 is when people start to use new methods of biblical interpretation to try to understand the 7 heads and the 7 mountains and this, that, and the other thing.

But if we stick to the consistent principles that we've used for the first 16 chapters, then the 17th chapter falls right into place, just like the first 16 chapters.

So chapter 17, in many ways, doesn't really show anything particularly new, except that it shows a different angle of the same power that we've been studying about.

Again, if we follow the methods of the Historicist Hermeneutic, we will be okay.

So having said that, we're going to get into chapter 17.

And I'd like a volunteer to read verses 1 and 2.

Right down here, Revelation 17, verses 1-6.

And there came 1 of the 7 angels, which had the 7 vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither, I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

The first thing that we notice is that the first subject or the first person or being identified is 1 of the 7 angels who had had 1 of the 7 vials.

Now what is this with respect to your what's the relationship between the 7 angels with the 7 vials?

So there's a relationship between the 7 last plagues and what we're going to see in Revelation chapter 17.

7 last plagues, we see that God pours out His judgments upon the power that shed the blood of the saints and the prophets.

So now we see 1 of the angels, 1 of the 7 vials, who had 1 of the 7 vials saying, come hither.

Or if you look at the word hither, another way of saying it is come here with an exclamation point.

The angel wants John to pay close attention to what he's going to see next.

And what is it that this angel is going to show to John?

So the title of our study today is the judgment of the great war.

So what this tells us, or let me phrase it this way, what does this tell us then about the 7 last plagues with respect to Revelation 17?

So what this tells us is that the judgment of the Great Whore, we see that in the 7 last plagues.

And Chapter 17 is now going to show us in more detail why the Great Flood was judged, why she received the 7 last plagues.

So that's the connection between Revelation 16 and Revelation 17.

So this angel is going to show to John the judgment of the great war, and then the last phrase here, notice this, that sitth upon many waters.

We have a great war that sits upon many waters.

So, obviously a war represents a corrupt woman, And a woman in the Bible represents the church.

We have the corrupt woman in Revelation 17.

And Notice the characteristics right off the bat.

This grade 4 is sitting upon many waters.

Now, First of all, what does waters represent in the Bible?

Later in the same chapter, in verse 15, we have the answer where it says, The waters which thou sawest, where the horse sitteth, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.

So peoples, multitudes, nations and tongues.

Is this a small geographic area or is this a very large area?

So this is describing many nations, multitudes, times, peoples.

So this corrupt church is sitting upon basically the whole world.

And in Revelation chapter 18 verse 7, the same power is described at the end of verse 7 where it says, I set a queen and am no widow and shall see no sorrow." So this great Lord sits as a queen upon the whole world, multitudes, nations, tongues, kings, and so forth.

And so what we have here, we have a false church, a corrupt church, who sits with political authority over the whole world.

And because of that, God judges this power.

So that's just setting up Revelation chapter 17.

So this great whore that sits upon many waters, if you think about it this way, a queen who sits, sits on her throne.

So she's sitting on her throne as a queen with political power over the whole world.

And the way God describes this is as a great war.

And notice then in verse 2 It says, with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication.

Now, where have we seen the kings of the earth with relative proximity to Revelation Chapter 17, verse 2?

If you remember in the sixth plague, when the sixth angel pours out the sixth vial, we have the 3 unclean spirits, the dragon, the beast and the false prophet.

They are the spirits of devils and it says they go forth under the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

So here we see in Revelation 16 that the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet would be identified in our last study as apostate Protestantism, spiritualism, and the pagans may go forth to gather the kings of the earth.

And in Revelation chapter 17 we see what happened when the kings of the earth were gathered by this threefold union.

They were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

So the kings of the earth, what happens when this great orc gathers them together?

Now, how clearly do you think when you are intoxicated?

You do things that you probably wouldn't otherwise do if you were thinking in your right mind.

Another way to look at it is your frontal lobe is bypassed, you become disinhibited, especially the left frontal lobe and anyway I'll stop talking about neurology but the point is What is the wine that intoxicates the kings of the earth?

Now think about it this way, the kings of the earth are a political entity and they are being intoxicated by something that doesn't make them think clearly, which causes them to come under judgment by God.

Now when you remember that Jesus says, my kingdom is not of this world and there's a clear biblical teaching of the separation of church and state, do you think that God would be exclusively judging the kings of the earth for political mistakes only or do you think it's more than that?

What's the wine that is causing them to come under judgment?

We have a comment right there in the back.

The Bible describes this drunken condition first as fornication.

Fornication in the Bible is an unlawful relationship.

It's the joining of 2 people or 2 entities that are not to be joined together.

In the light of this we have the kings which are a civil power and we have this false church which is a religious power.

And under the union of these 2 entities, we have what they call fornication, or a drunken condition of the world.

And 1 of the first places, maybe not the first place, but 1 of the first places that comes to mind as a false union is Ahab and Jezebel.
