Bits & Pieces

Loving Father in heaven, speak through me for your glory alone and for the blessing of your sons and your daughters.

Remember the words of 2 Samuel 23, verse 2, which says, The spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

Father put your words in the very organ of speech my tongue I pray.

Take all the glory give us all the blessings in Jesus name we ask.

Our subject for this evening odds and ends.

With a limited amount of time, I will throw them out as very, very significant odds and ends.

Or you may give it the title, bits and pieces.

Now I can't wait for you to find it because time is severely limited.

Genesis 1, verse 1, the Bible says, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth and the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

And God said, let's say that again, and God said, let there be light, and there was light.

1 of the earliest lessons of the Bible is the absolute reliability, dependability, and power of God's Word.

All he did was to speak, let there be light.

And so the Bible tells us in Psalm 33, verse 6, By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth for he spake verse 9 and it was done he commanded and it stood fast it is amazing that something can come into existence that had no prior existence merely at the Word of God.

My brothers and my sisters as transformed agents in everything you do Be guided by the Word of God.

In everything you do, be guided, be led, be advised, be protected, be cleansed, be surrounded by the Word of God.

And the Word of God is so precious to him that we're told in Psalm 138 verse 2, Thou hast magnified thy word above what?

I believe they're about 300 references to God, various names, each 1 giving us some little insight into who he is.

The Bible says, thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name, because the name of God, The reputation of God is based on his word.

John 1, reading from verse 1, the Bible says, in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.

All things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made.

We skip to verse 14 and the Word became flesh.

When he comes back, Revelation 19 verse 13, And he was clothed with a vesture dipped with blood, and his name is called the Word of God.

My brothers, my sisters, we are to live our lives according to thus saith the Lord.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness according to Matthew's version and Luke's version, when the devil told him command that these stones be made bread, Matthew chapter 3, 4 verse 3, Jesus answered him in verse 4 of Matthew chapter 4, it is written man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

This lifestyle that Christ recommends is for all human beings, is for all Non-human beings.

Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

What that verse tells us is that angels obey the Word of God.

And so when Jesus says, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God, that can be extended to the angels.

All intelligent beings live according to God's Word.

And so the God is given to you and to me His Word.

Hebrews 1 verse 3, who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person and upholding all things by the word of his power.

Colossians 1 17, and he is before all things and by him all things consist.

And so creation was brought into existence by the Word of God.

How is the soul cleansed from the defilement of sin?

John 17 verse 17 Jesus praying to his father he said sanctify them how?

Through thy truth, finished the verse, thy word is truth.

Christ Object Lessons, page 100, paragraph 1.

Elowite writes, the scriptures are the great agency in the transformation of character.

If studied and obeyed, the Word of God works in the heart subduing every unholy attribute.

Now we can make a list of unholy attributes, lying, stealing, whatever else.

Every single 1, if exposed to the divine radiation from God's Word, will be reduced and removed.

The very thing for which we have no time is the very agent we need to cleanse the soul.

Peter writes, seeing you've purified your souls in obeying the truth.

If you find a Bible verse that says this is white, When you look at it, what will you see with your eyes?

Even though your senses tell you black, You must say white for no other reason than the Bible says it's white.

Now that kind of living brings you into conflict with the rest of the world because that is an unworldly or otherworldly way to live.

Most of the world regards Sunday as the Sabbath yet the Bible says the seventh day.

God doesn't function by numbers he functions by truth.

Bit and piece number 2, transformed agents, you have to know your mission.

If you don't, people will turn you away from the mission God has given you.

Now they will do that with the best of intentions.

Our subject is odds and ends or bits and pieces.
