Even More Questions Angels Ask- Part 1

Yesterday's message is entitled, Questions Angels Ask.

Today, creatively enough, more questions angels ask.

It's not because I ran out of ideas for titles, it's because it's a natural extension of what we did yesterday.

We're going to begin at the same point in scripture that we did yesterday but now overview what we did and build upon it for a deeper understanding of God's Word.

Okay but before we do any study of God's Word we need to begin with a word of prayer.

Heavenly Father we thank you so much For so many things.

Thank you for giving us life at all You didn't have to do it and you certainly didn't have to give us the opportunity for eternal life through the sacrifice of your son Jesus The Lord You've done all of that for us.

Help us to see our role in it and through the Holy Spirit's power, help us to be victorious as ambassadors and representatives of your kingdom and your principles.

Let's begin again in Matthew chapter, what chapter are we going to go to?

Chapter 13, Jesus was telling a series of parables and there came upon 1 that particularly interested his disciples who were accompanying him and it begins 24 Matthew chapter 13 and 24 and we'll review it quickly there's only so many verses long only about 6 or 7 verses here but notice what it says carefully Another parable he put forth to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.

So the servants of the owner came and said to him, sir, did you not sow good seed in your field?

The servant said to him, do you want us then to go and gather them up?

But he said no, that's why you gather up the tears You also gather up the root the wheat with them let both grow together until the harvest and At the time of harvest I will first gather the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.

Yesterday we noticed that all of the human beings, of course the Christ decoded it for his disciples just a few verses later, and he says, Each symbol represents this, the sower, the owner of the field, is the Son of Man, which is Jesus Christ.

The sons of the good, the good seed are the sons of the righteous.

The harvest is the end of the age and the reapers are whom?

These are Angels asking questions of God and his dealing with an allowance of evil Why is it here in the first place?

Notice again, we're gonna break this parable down a little bit more each day.

According to Scripture, when did he do it?

It was not out loud, it was subtlety and sophistry.

It was insidious in such a way that they couldn't even perceive it was happening.

Why did God cast Satan out instead of merely blotting him out of existence?

Because others needed to see what God had seen in him all along, right?

God could see in, but they could only see the out.

So he needed to give time to demonstrate so they can see that an enemy truly has done this.

And of course the accusations as we saw in the book of Job went back and forth between Christ and Satan, and at some point, your proclamation has to be manifest in demonstration.

Christ claimed 1 thing about his government, Satan had said another thing, and the answer to the issue was Jesus Christ.

When Jesus Christ came to this world, He came to represent the Father.

He said, if you've seen me, you have seen the Father.

So whatever questions you might have about God and His government, His principles, His law, look to me.

He didn't say, I came to destroy the law.

In fact that concept of showing, that demonstration over and over, the scripture says, prophesying for Jesus first coming, Isaiah 56 says, for my righteousness will be revealed, my salvation will be revealed.

Romans says that the gospel reveals The righteousness of God the gospel doesn't make God righteous God's been righteous all along But Christ came to demonstrate the righteousness of Christ the righteousness of God and his the wisdom of his plan now Now we're gonna go to today's message Is it okay if I do this?

I know it might mess up the motif, but if I tip it over, it's going to be much more awkward.

We might as well just get it out of the way.

Now let's turn our attention again to the parable.

Notice it says, but while men slept, verse 25, while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the weed and went his way.

But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, so notice those little seeds of doubt flourished into rebellion, into genuine conflict among the former loyal sons of God, what's going on here?

The tares also appeared, so the servants of the owner came and said to him, the first question they have, sir did you not sow good seed and yield?

They're worried about the existence of evil.

You're a good God but we see this, what is happening?

And Christ answered very clearly, an enemy has done this and the demonstration of that answer was in the life of Christ.

When he put out his arms and died the death that we all should have died, he demonstrated once and for all something that had only been theory up until that point, which is God is love.

And in so doing, he revealed the character of his enemy that he truly is a liar and a what?

Murderer from when from the beginning Basically Christ was the answer all the accusations and we saw that from that point on from Calvary forward we're told that the last link of sympathy between Satan and the unfallen world was broken.

But now they have another question, more questions angels ask.

After he says to them in verse 28, an enemy has done this, continue looking, the servant said to him, so after they get the explanation of the difference between the owner and the enemy, okay, now we understand that.

Now that we see the difference, now that we know the truth, we're fully on your side.

Again these are loyal angels but they've sealed their commitment to Christ.

When they saw Him on Calvary, they were not listening.

Remember in Job, they were listening still, were they not?

Has 1 argument, a counter argument, it's like watching some sort of sporting match, back and forth.

So the question that would be on my mind, okay, we get it.

Christ's answer to them gives us the basis for our message today.

Again in verse 28, He said, An enemy has done this, the servant said to him, Do you want us then to go and gather them up?

Now does that mean that God does not want the evil gathered up and destroyed No, no, no Just not yet Now there's a harvest coming, right?

But it's not harvest time So after the explanation an enemy has done this was demonstrated at the cross of Calvary They say well it's only logical let's destroy Satan now and God says no and He gives a reason No, lest while you gather up the tares, you also uproot the wheat with them.

Apparently God has no problem with the tares being dealt with, destroyed even.

It's out of his concern for the wheat that the tares, and catch this now, must continue to exist.
