Empty in Sychar: Sexual Integrity for Women

I invite you to turn to me to John chapter 4.

John chapter 4 verse 13 and 14 John chapter 4 verse 13 and 14 is the opening text.

You know I was really praying about the next series I was going to do And Joe is handing this out at this time.

It's called, on the red paper that's being handed out.

And it's called, entitled, Relationships God's Way.

And so we'll be looking at, this is only actually half of them.

But I just want to give you a little taste of what's going to happen.

So the first 1 is filling the emotional void, sexual integrity for women.

And then the next 1 is I listen Gaza sexual integrity for men.

And then also calling out affections, why relationships go bad, and then finding your soulmate.

And so we'll be talking about these subjects from the word of God, and follow God's way in how relationships should be done.

Because relationships, actually family is the foundation of our churches, of our communities and relationships are the foundation of our families.

If you believe that, let me hear you say Amen.

And relationships is very important, so much so, and I believe very strongly in the family, more important than even the ministry, more important than even the church.

I believe in the local home family, that's important.

Your church is only as good as your families.

And so we believe strongly in, because we're made of families here, we believe strongly in family and the importance of family.

So I felt I'd devote a whole series on the family from the Word of God.

And you know, we live in an age today that is so distorted in how the family should be.

And so that's the series that we'll be doing.

It's going to be involving everyone whether you're single, whether you're single looking for someone, or single who want to be that way the rest of your life, to those of you who are in relationships, boyfriends and girlfriends, to those of you who are married, who have a husband or a wife.

Also, this morning we'll be looking at the sexual purity for women.

You see, men and women both struggle with sexual integrity, but just in different ways.

It is a Victorian myth that women do not struggle with sexual integrity and purity.

Because for every man that commits adultery, there is always a woman.

So let's get that out of our mind, first of all, that women are not sexually impure, immoral, or have the tendency to be that way.

As we study the weaknesses of the different sexes, there is an overlap.

And although this may not be your gender, you may sometimes see that there are certain aspects of their weakness that does apply to you and it crosses over.

I believe that this is happening because today there's a confusion of roles between men and women.

And number 2, I believe the fact that there is a lot of sensuality and immorality has been overwhelmed our nation, not only overwhelmed our nation, but has even infiltrated our churches of today.

And this morning I pray that may we be open to the Holy Spirit and his convictions as we study the word of God together.

Father, as your word is open, we humbly kneel before it.

We ask humbly in the name of Jesus, Amen.

The woman at the well, John chapter 4 verse 13, John chapter 4 verse 13 and 14.

What did Jesus offer the Samaritan woman at the well?

Bible says in 13 and 14, Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again.

You remember this woman was at the well and Jesus asked her for water and then he said, but whoever drink of this water you're going to thirst again.

But he said, but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.

But the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

You see Jesus saw this woman and she was at the well and playing a bantering spirit and he saw this woman but Jesus saw that this woman's well was empty.

He then offered her water from a well that would never run dry and that would fill her up, that she would be satisfied.

What was the woman's response to this offer?

Verse 15, let's see what the Bible has to say.

Let's believe what the Bible has to say this morning.

The Bible says in 15, a woman said unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

This woman yearned for what he had to offer.

She wanted something different than what she was currently experiencing.

Something that would satisfy the deep longings of her emotional hungers.

But before she was to receive this fulfillment, what did Jesus do first before she experienced full fulfillment?

The Bible says, Jesus said unto her, Go, call your what?

The woman answered and said, I have no husband.

Jesus said unto her, You have well said, I have no husband.

For thou hast had 5 husbands, and he whom you have now is not your husband, and that thou said thou truly.

I want you to notice that before this woman could experience true satisfaction and fulfillment in Christ, she first had to deal with her sexual and emotional integrity first.

And beloved, this morning, before, in order for us to be truly satisfied in Christ, either in our life or our relationships, we first need to deal with our past and present sexual integrity and purity.

You see, this woman was fighting a battle she didn't understand.

Even though she had tried many relationships, she had had 5 husbands, she had had 5 divorces, and now the man she was living with, she was just shacking up with him.

She felt that she was, though she was still with these men, she still felt that she was still missing something in her life that she just couldn't put her finger on.

The problem was that she didn't understand Satan's strategy of attack against her, especially as a woman.

To better understand that attack, turn with me to Genesis chapter 3 verse 1.

See today women need to understand Satan's plan of attack against them.

Again this overlaps, you're going to find out men that the thing that's going to overlap and impress you this morning.

We're going back 6, 000 years to the first relationship that ever existed, Adam and Eve.

What happened in the Garden of Eden, Genesis 3 verse 1, the Bible says, Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.

And he said unto the woman, Yea, as God said, you shall not eat of every tree of the garden.

They were not supposed to eat of this fruit of this tree.

Eyeless in Gaza: Sexual Integrity for Men

It's good to hear that the sound is working out there.

I invite you to turn to me to an opening text in Genesis chapter 3 verse 6 as we go through our Bible study this morning.

I've always said don't believe a word I have to say but believe what the Bible has to say this morning.

Loving you as God loves you is the name, as you see inside the bulletin, the red paper, is the name of our current series of sermons I'm sharing.

In this series we're studying about relationships and as relationships are the foundations of our families because families are very, very important to God and to this church and to myself.

So we're talking about relationships and so it's a series of 12 sermons and we talked about sexual integrity for women the last 1.

Now this morning gentlemen is sexual integrity for men.

The next sermon is actually entitled playing the love game in a bad sense.

Playing the love game, calling out attentions and calling out affections.

But this morning we'll be looking at sexual integrity for men.

When men become sexually pure, it will not only revive their relationship with God, but also transform their relationship with their wife or their girlfriend.

And every relationship, whether you have a girlfriend or a wife, will only grow stronger, men, when we conquer sexual temptations.

This morning, you can take off your little masks, your Christian masks, your little facades.

You can take off your pious looks off our faces this morning, men.

And we're going to be real with God and the Word this morning.

This morning, we'll be looking at some stories in the Bible, where men have succeeded and where they have failed in the era of sexual temptations.

And we're doing this so that we may learn the lessons God has for us in a practical way this morning, what he has to teach us.

You see, most authors in history, what they do is that they tend to report only the good side of their life when they write their autobiographies.

And I believe that the authenticity of the Bible is revealed in the fact that the authors not only wrote to show the best side, but they also wrote to show the bad sides also, to show the truthfulness of their fall even if it would make them look bad.

In other words, they were real and they were genuine in the Bible.

I find this company in my life as I look back and I see my failures.

If the Bible only showed the good side of people, then I probably wouldn't even read it because it's so unlike me.

And I praise God for my sake that they not only messed up but they also had the honesty to write about it.

What gives me hope in the Bible is the fact that although people committed adultery, lost their temper, lied, cheated, swore, and gossip, each 1 of them was by the grace of God able to overcome their sin.

And if they fell and got back up and overcame their sin, so can I and so can you by the grace of God this morning?

I praise God for my sake that they sinned.

It sounds strange but I praise God that they sinned.

But I praise God for my sake and for your sake that they not only sinned but they got by the grace of God the victory and gained the victory over sin.

And now for your sake I pray that their stories will come alive and speak to your hearts as we study the Word of God together.

Father, as your Word is open, we do humbly ask that you may be with us and help us to understand your word.

Hank, can you turn up please a little bit so I can not speak too loud?

The Bible says, why did Adam eat the forbidden fruit?

The Bible says, and when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make 1 wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat.

Do you remember from the last sermon that in order for the woman to eat of the forbidden fruit, Satan went and he had to change the whole process of her mind.

He had to change her whole mind before she would eat of that forbidden food.

Do you remember from the last sermon how Satan attacks each of the different sexes?

Women's battles are with the eyes and the emotional, while men's battles, I'm sorry, are with the ears and the emotion, while men's battles are with the eyes and the physical.

Remember that we learned, that's why I said that women give sex or the physical to men in order to get love, the emotional.

Well men give love, the emotional, in order to get sex, the physical.

Do you remember how Satan didn't just say to Eve, Eve, here's the forbidden fruit, it looks attractive, eat this fruit.

If he did this, he would not have succeeded because she would not have eaten of the fruit.

Even though it looked attractive, she would not attracted enough for the fruit that she would actually eat of it.

There had to be a change in her mind first before she would eat of the forbidden fruit.

But I want you to notice the difference with Adam.

With Adam, Satan did not use the same method.

He didn't need to change Adam's mind before Adam would eat of the forbidden fruit.

What Satan got Adam to do was, all he had to do was get Adam to see Eve coming to him, see with his eyes, and then he ate of the forbidden fruit.

You see Satan goes around like a roaring lion seeking which men he may devour.

So in order to protect ourselves from the attacks of Satan We need to understand what Satan's battle plan of attack is for us men, so that we may be prepared to save our relationships, to save our marriages, to save our homes, And to save our children from emotional instability when they grow older.

Let's look at Satan's battle tactical plan.

Turn with me in the Bible to Second Samuel chapter 11 verse 1.

What did David do when all of Israel went out to war?

And King David was a man who cheated and committed adultery with another man's wife.

We learned there are steps in how the women fell, but let's look at how the steps in how men may fall.

David doing all of Israel went out to war.

David is the king of Israel and kings were supposed to go out to war and be active in war and go to war.

The Bible says, and it came to pass after the year was expired, at the time when the kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel, and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah, but David tarried still at Jerusalem." First of all, David was supposed to go to war.

Instead of going to war, he stayed idle at home.

See, Satan, first line of attack, is to get us to be idle, for idle is sin.

When you're thinking of 0 I'm so bored, there's nothing to do, that's when Satan comes and he hits us the strongest with his first line of attack.

To get us to be idle and bored in our minds.

What happened next in verse 2, the second line of attack?

The Bible says, And it came to pass in an even tide that David arose from off his bed and walked upon the roof of the king's house.

He saw a woman washing herself or taking a bath on the top of the roof.

He got out of bed and went for a walk on the top of this roof.

Playing the Love Game: Calling out Affections and Attention

God is truly good to all of us here this morning.

Let me hear you say Amen if you believe that.

I invite you to turn to me to our opening text and it's found in Proverbs chapter 20 verse 19.

Proverbs chapter 20 verse 19 is our opening text.

The sermon title this morning is Playing the Love Game.

We focused on the first sermon, remember, was on women.

And then the next sermon, 2 weeks ago, was on men.

That was probably the most straightest sermon I've ever preached, I felt.

Today's 1 is on playing the love game, men and women.

This is a series of sermons I have outlined, 12 different series.

We're focusing on relationships between husband and wives, boyfriend and girlfriend.

We start off with a foundation of our relationships, boyfriends and girlfriends, finding your soulmate, moving on to sexual integrity, the foundation, and moving on how to find your loved 1, your soulmate, then moving on to how to, you know, restore that first love and keep on going on to how to live with your 1 loved 1 who cheated on you to completion all the way to the end.

And so now we're on our third sermon entitled, Playing the Love Game.

You see, Satan today has made the gift of love into a cheap game, today especially.

And the men and women who play these games, the love game, are called players, People who play in the game of love are called players.

Have you ever heard someone say, he's a player?

What that means is that that person who is a player has learned how to manipulate women or play women to get them to do what they want them to do.

This term player also applies to women who learn how to play men or manipulate men also.

We have learned in the last 2 sermons that women's battles are with the ears and the emotional while men's battles are with the eyes and the physical.

The crafty players in a game of love, whether they be men or women, understand these principles I just share with you very well, so much to the utmost, So much so that they play the opposite sex that they can get what they really want.

They don't care about the other party getting hurt for they are selfish and only concerned about gratifying themselves.

You believe this is true, let me hear you say Amen.

I'm not way out there, you're out of touch with the world, but you're out there.

As Christians, we are not to play this game of love.

God does not want us to be a player, nor does God want us as Christians to be played, right?

For God knows that 1 wrong decision in our love life may determine whether our future will be a happy 1 or a living hell.

Beloved, this morning I would like to study with you from the Word of God the tricks and games people play in order to manipulate.

We'll be studying this topic so that we may learn to never play any of these dangerous games as Christians and so that also we may have a happy and a successful love life is my humble prayer this morning.

Father, as your word is open, we humbly ask that you may help us to learn from it, that you may teach us what you want us to learn, and that we may apply.

Let's first take a look at the games men play.

Proverbs 20 verse 19 the Bible says, He that goes about as a tale-bearer, revealeth secrets, knoweth the second part especially, therefore meddle not, or associate not, with who?

We're counseled not to meddle or associate with anyone who flatters with his lips.

You see, women are aroused by what they hear and it's out of a woman's emotional desires that her heart cries out for someone who can satisfy the innermost needs to be loved, needed, valued, cherished.

And when a man seems to satisfy these needs, a woman falls head over heels for him.

Women, men who are players, know this and They use flattery as a way to sweet talk you to get you to do what they want you to do.

To play with your emotions by what they do.

And once they have called out your affections, they are then able to manipulate you.

See players know the effects their words have upon you women.

And before many women finally wake up, you probably know people like this, or maybe you're 1 of these people, before they finally wake up many of the years have been wasted with this 1 man who had totally destroyed and ruined their whole life.

And all their friends know that that person had manipulated that person the whole time.

You don't have to say anything, but think about it.

Friends, family, used, manipulated by a certain man, all these years wasted because of what that man did to that woman?

In other words, women, don't fall for 1 who calls out your affections by sweet-talking you.

You may think that you're the only 1 he talks that way to you, too.

But if he's talked that way to you, you know he's talked to a hundred different women that way also, right?

Look at this quote from the Spirit of Prophecy, Ellen White.

It says here, to trifle with hearts, call out affections, is a crime of no small magnitude in the sight of a holy God.

Yet some will show preference for young ladies and call out their affections.

And then go their way and forget all about the words they have spoken and their effect.

A new face attracts them and repeat the same words, devote to another, the same what?

So, are there people out there that do this, you think?

Are there people in the church that maybe do these Love games?

Now that we looked at how we shouldn't call out affections and play with a person's emotions, let's look at a situation.

Look how we may deal with a situation where a person is already attracted to you, maybe they're attracted to you, you didn't call out their affection, but they're attracted to you.

Maybe you did, but what are you supposed to do when they're attracted to you?

The answer is found in the story of Joseph and Potiphar's wife.

What did Potiphar's wife want to do with Joseph?

The Bible says, And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife, Potiphar's wife, cast her eyes upon Joseph and she said, what?

She wanted to sleep with her husband's servant.

Look at verse 10 to 12, the Bible says, And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearken not unto her to lie by her, or to be with her.

And it came to pass about this time that Joseph went into the house to do his business, and there was none of the men of the house there within.

And she caught him by his garment saying, lie with me.

And he left his garment in her hand and what?
