Rev 13- The World has Started to Wonder

So the topic is, as you've seen Revelation 13, the world has started to wander.

I personally think this is an interesting topic.

There's a lot in the world today happening.

90 minutes is simply not enough to fill, you know, with everything that is going on in the world.

So you will for sure be able to say, well, there's more.

We're gonna take a look at Revelation 13.

We're actually gonna go verse by verse until the Mark of the Beast, basically.

And we're gonna take a look at a little bit of the meaning and relate it to see does this have a fulfillment today?

So that's the plan for the next 90 minutes.

So some of it, I mean, I will not cover like exactly all explanations because we simply don't have time, but I hope you will get a good taste of this prophecy and what is going on in the world.

And yeah, hopefully it will also inspire you to preach the word, to share the word to the world.

You may bow your heads where you are with me.

Father in heaven, I pray that your spirit may be here.

I pray that you may come into our hearts.

Pray that you may give us understanding about this important prophecy.

I pray that you may put the words in my mouth, that it may be your words, and that we all may be inspired and revived as a result.

We will mostly be in this chapter, this place of the Bible.

And The question is, has the world started to wonder?

Now, from the title you can already see that I believe so.

And that's why I call it the world has started to wonder.

And you know, you see, in 2013 since Pope Francis became elected, a lot has happened.

He became internationally acknowledged very quickly.

I believe, as I said, that the fulfillment of the prophecies of relation 13 is happening in front of our eyes.

We have the 2 beasts, the beast of the sea, rising and the beast of the earth.

And if we take a look at, just very briefly, we won't have time to go into Daniel 7, but Daniel 7 is a good chapter to identify who Antichrist is.

And if you, if you make a comparison, here are a few similarities, there are more, between Daniel 7 and Revelation 13.

I just wanted to see these things so that we can see the connection, that we can understand that this is talking about the same power, the little horn in Daniel 7 and in Revelation 13, the beast of the sea.

But here we have some similarities between the 2 chapters.

Number 1, the beast arises out of the sea.

And then we see a leopard, bear and the lion.

We see parts of this about this beast and and then we see that we see the 10 horns appearing both places, both chapters and then it involves persecution and war with the Saints for this time period as we see many times in Daniel and Revelation.

1260 days and we know as Bible students 1 day equals, 1 day in prophetic, apocalyptic prophecy equals a year.

Prophecy that involves symbolism, pointing, involving rising and falling of kingdoms, we have to apply 1 day for a year.

We have some references in Numbers and Ezekiel and Jesus himself used this when he talked about the 3 days he was going to do his ministry.

Then we have, we see a number of men, eyes of a man.

And then he's talking about blasphemy against God and in the relation speak great words against the most high.

And then we have, it says, and he causes all to receive a mark.

And in the Annalogy, this is talking about, he's the thing to change times and law.

So you have, like I said, there's more similarities and a study will show that this is the same power, the little horn and the beast of the sea.

Now we're gonna focus on Revelation 13 as I've said.

We're gonna now start in verse 1 and just go through here and briefly take a look at these things.

Says, then I stood on the sand of the sea.

Now what is sea representing in the revelation?

Multitude of people, so the revelation 1715 is a reference.

So peoples, nations, so it was arising out of a populated area, see that.

And then it says, having 7 heads and 10 horns, and on his horns 10 crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.

Now, the 7 heads, if we go to Revelation 17, it's talking about that these are 7 hills, 7 mountains, sorry.

And we know that actually around Rome, there's 7 hills actually.

And at the foot of 1 of them, you have the Vatican.

But Revelation 17 also talks, verse 10 there, says that, and there are 7 kings, 5 fallen, 1 is, and the other is not yet come, and when he comes he shall continue to short space.

I believe this is representing 7 world powers that have persecuted God's people through history.

We have, for instance, we have Babylon, we have Rome, so we have Egypt and so on.

So we have, if you count this, this big powers that the Persians are the last people, you will see that this fits very well with this explanation here.

Okay, so it said it has a blasphemous name.

According to the Bible, what is blasphemy?

So you have in John chapter 10, it's talking about claiming to be God, as what Jesus was accused for, because he was indeed God.

Mark 2 is talking about that they were accusing him for claiming to forgive sins.

So these are the 2, just as you said, according to the Bible, 2 descriptions of what blasphemy is.

For the sake of time, we don't have time to go into many of these quotes.

But here's a quote from Pope John Paul II from 1995.

It says, have no fear, when people call me the vicar of Christ, when they say to me, holy father or your holiness, or use titles similar to these, which seem even inimical, which means cause harm to the gospel.

And in fact, before Pope Francis visits the US, Cardinal Stafford, he said, he comes as the vicar of Christ.

He comes to the United States as the vicar of Christ.

Bible is using the term anti-Christ in some places.

And anti means against or in place of, and this is basically what the papacy is doing.

The Pope, the priest is taking the place of Christ.

And also, a study will show that it's going against Christ, against Christ's doctrines and principles.

And basically, if you look at the sanctuary, Psalm 77 verse 13 says, "'Thy way of God is in the sanctuary.'" So if you wanna know God's way, God's plan of salvation, God's GPS, if you want, go to the sanctuary.

And what all of these things in Sanctuary is representing, the papacy has cast down, they have made a counterfeit.

I wish we would have time to go into that, but we don't.

So, but I just wanna make something clear as we talk about this power and United States, we're not talking about the person, we're talking about the system, right?

There are wonderful Catholics as well as other Christians and they are doing according to, I mean, there are many sincere, I believe, Catholics there.

We're talking about the system here of the Catholic Church and that has been going against God's word that is placing their own, the standards of the church higher than the Word of God and so on.

Now The beast which I saw was like a leopard.

His feet were like the feet of a bear and his mouth like the mouth of a lion.

The dragon gave him his power, his throne and great authority.

When we have studied Daniel 7, we know that these 3, as we saw in the beginning, the leopard, the bear, and lion are representing kingdoms.

And the title for this workshop is Where is the World Heading?

I don't know if you have been able to read the more detailed description.

I have not seen it myself actually, but I have written it but not seen it afterwards.

So maybe you don't know exactly what's included here.

But I want us to take a look during this 1 and a half hour here that we have, that we can look upon the global warming, the greenhouse gas concept, what that actually is and also if this is important for us as Christians and if it is scientific.

We hear usually a lot about these things in the media, especially during the last year.

I think we have heard about it the whole time.

And if there is also anything that could be more important than this, I want us to look at that too.

And also, what does the Bible say on Ellen White?

Do we have anything specific from these sources?

And if you have questions, you can just raise your hand and take them whenever.

If there would be too many questions I may ask you to wait until the end but I don't think it should be a problem to just take them now when I am speaking.

And why am I talking about this actually?

It's because I have studied physics and meteorology and I'm working with that.

So then I guess it was natural to ask me to talk about it and I have also written some articles during the year about it.

But yeah let's start but before I just want to have a short prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father I pray that you will be with us here now as we are going to see what is happening in the world.

Help us to interpret these things in the right way and also that we are not getting fooled.

I pray that you will guide us with your spirit, that we may understand with the wisdom that you have and help us to see clear in these matters and what is also really important is to understand what matters most in these times, in these last times, because there are many things happening around the world.

So, first of all, let us just look at the greenhouse effect and the global warming, what that actually is, in case you don't know so much about it.

We can start to look at the global energy budget.

Not all the things here that you see, We don't have to go into details on it.

But you see here something yellow coming into the Earth, towards the Earth.

It's the shortwave radiation coming from the sun.

And it's going through the whole atmosphere without any interaction almost at all.

Well, some of it is reflected on clouds and also here on the Earth.

And what is happening then is that the Earth is heating up and it's heating up and it would heat up in the eternity if something would not be re-emitted from the Earth.

So of course something is coming back again to the atmosphere from the Earth because the Earth cannot just get warmer and warmer.

So we have this radiation emitted from the surface, from the Earth, and that is not the same as coming in from the Sun.

It's long-wave radiation compared to the short-wave here.

And this long-wave radiation interacts more with the atmosphere than the short wave and especially with the greenhouse gases that we have heard a lot about like carbon dioxide and methane and other greenhouse gases.

And these greenhouse gases, they absorb this long-wave radiation and then they re-emit the radiation again.

Some of it directly out to the outer space but a big part again as back radiation towards the earth.

And that is actually the greenhouse effect and is helping us not to have too cold here on earth.

And I think that is created by God as a means of that so that we can live on this earth without any Big problems I would say because we would have like 17 18 degrees Colder in average temperature around the earth and it would be impossible to live in some areas without the natural greenhouse effect.

But the problem is then when these greenhouse gases increase, then of course that physically what we know from the science, from the physics, these greenhouse gases would take up more radiation and re-emit more towards the Earth and the greenhouse gas effect would be increased and the temperature would go up.

And I think, yeah, it sounds, I mean, very physically correct in a way, this explanation that it should be like that.

But we will look more on these details now.

It will be a lot of things and just remember to ask if you don't understand anything.

This is just a diagram showing what has the most impact on either hiring or lowering the temperature on Earth.

And we see here that the carbon dioxide, since it is a lot in the atmosphere, also naturally from the beginning, it has also a big impact on the energy budget.

But also other greenhouse gases like methane and nitrogen dioxide has an impact and some other things also.

And this makes it quite complicated also to understand what is happening in the atmosphere since there are many things involved and it's not so easy always to have the big overview of everything, what is happening.

The net anthropogenic component, this is the sum of what we contribute to it?

So this is The net effect, you can say, they have calculated it to be so much positive, I mean heating effect, so not cooling but heating.

But you see also that it's quite a big uncertainty in this.

This is the uncertainty, the grey from here until here.

But yes, it's from the humans, what they have calculated.

There are many, many different theories of course, what has caused the temperature increase.

And we'll talk a little about that also very soon here.

The carbon dioxide concentration has increased on Earth.

That's, I mean, scientifically proved without any hesitation because you can measure it and they have done so for quite many years now and we see here from 1960 it was 310 parts per million in the atmospheric concentration.

Before the Industrial Revolution it was around 260-270 parts per million.

And then it has increased, so it's up now in 400 actually.

That's just a fact and cannot be questioned so much actually.

But what is then the other evidence for the global warming?

Yeah, first of all we can see of course also we can measure the temperature on Earth.

We have a lot of stations, observation stations, not only on the Earth but I mean also up in the atmosphere.

We have satellites that is measuring the temperature and so on.

And since 1880 we have quite sure measurements.

And the temperature has then increased quite much, especially in the last 50 years.

Well known, this is the carbon dioxide concentration, but we also see that the temperature has gone up here.

It's the red ones that you can see here compared to earlier here when it was colder.

And then someone say okay there have been many theories and Some have stated that it might be because of the changing numbers of sunspots, for example.

To begin with, when you just look at it, it may seem as if it would be something that could explain it.

But if you look a little bit closer, first of all you can see here that the number of sun spots, they increased here, went up here, you can see, And the temperature went up here.

But the problem is that the number of sunspots went up after the temperature went up.

So it's very hard in that way to explain why the temperature went up here, even if it looks like it's quite comparable, these 2 graphs earlier here.

And another problem is also here now, in the end, that the temperature has continued to increase, but the number of sunspots, they have not.

So in that way this theory I don't think that it has...

It might have impact I can imagine that it has can have some impact on the temperature but I don't think it's the best explanation.

Okay, someone is then saying that, okay, we had a medieval warm period, a warmer period before, and we had a Little Ice Age.

And if we look at that here, we see the medieval warm period, and we see the Little Ice Age.

First of all, it's very, very difficult to know exactly how warm it was before, to measure the temperature before, historically.

You can do it by looking at seeds, for example, where they grow plants and you can see if there were ice on the seas and lakes and so on, if they have transports on the seas and lakes during the winter or not.

But it's not very, very sure, the temperature.

And it has been shown that the Little Ice Age for example it was just probably it was only cold in the northern part of the hemisphere of the earth and even more locally in Europe actually and some parts of America but not the Holy Earth.

And during the medieval warm period yeah it seems like it was a little warmer but it was definitely not so warm as it is now and it was not with that fast increase either as we see now.

It has, I mean, gone up a lot just the last decades.

So it's quite hard to just say that it must be of some natural variations what we have seen in the last decades.

But of course, I think that there are natural variabilities because we see that earlier also that It has some kind of variability naturally, but the last time it seems like it's a little bit more unnormal.

What have we seen more that is a sign of global warming?

Yeah, we have been able to measure the sea level that it has been rising.

It has already risen 3 decimeters almost and it is accelerating also.

So by satellites and also other types of measurements we see here that it has been rising the whole time.

And This is of course a sign of that it has been warmer because we have had more ice melting out in the sea increasing the sea level but also when it gets warmer the water expands And that are the 2 main causes of this sea level increase.

And another sign is the decrease of the Arctic ice.

It has been going down a lot just the last decades.

We see the black curve here is the observed ice.

A Prophet for This Generation

We'll start, I'm here in honor for those who are here on time.

We'll start if someone else comes to miss the beginning.

I just wanted to mention, yes please, we talked, there was quite some comments about the sunshine in this part of the world and stuff yesterday.

So I wanted to mention 2 interesting Ellen White quotes since it's kind of, yeah, we'll talk about Ellen White, this is not really the topic, but 2 interesting statements.

1 of the statements she comes with is that, about how to keep the Sabbath in the north.

I was living actually in the very north where there's no sun in the winter and it's not hot.

So I said to her in connection with that type of question, she said that you are not supposed to live in that kind of place.

But actually I've heard this from many people, but I'm not sure if it's really true actually, because I've tried to find the quote, and I haven't found it, so I'm wondering if this might be, until I find it now, I would kind of think that it's 1 of the Ellen White Apocrypha because you have quite some quotes actually.

It's funny, you can find some of them like in White, it's that many, you know, another 1 is like, you know, Scandinavia is the safest place to live in the time of them, you know, that's a quote.

I've never seen it but many people say, some say the same with Switzerland or France or whatever.

You have many things like this, especially you can imagine before we got technology like today, when it was so easily accessible, all the writings of Ellen White, imagine in her time, like there were probably a lot of rumors like this.

Anyway, so it's good to know there are a lot of misunderstandings about Ellen White because simply she never said it or it's completely taken out of context or completely so that's actually a good lesson to take with us.

But the second quote in regards to the sunshine, to give you another 1, I thought it was quite funny she says that the most glorious sunset the most beautiful sunset she ever saw that was actually when she was in Scandinavia she was she don't say actually which country it was, she was traveling between Kristiana, or Oslo as it's called today, and Gothenburg.

On that ride, she saw the most beautiful, and this 1, I tell you, this is real.

I could give you it in 2 seconds from my computer, give a reference and everything.

Since you're here, we have some nice parts with the sun as well.

So maybe you will see a nice sunset if you're lucky.

Otherwise, you can come back another time.

And as I was working on the research of the book, I went there to have an interview with her.
