As it Was in the Days of Noah

I am blessed to be living here in Holly and to be the pastor of this church.

It's been about a year now, and I and my wife are very blessed, and we're looking forward to seeing what the Lord will continue to do in our lives as we work together.

And for that we need the unity of the Spirit.

Here's the sermon title, friends, as it was in the days of Noah.

And this sermon is something that is deep and very near to my heart, and I pray would be also to yours as Seventh-day Adventists.

And we have 4 new Seventh-day Adventists baptized here today, and so I want this message to be a particular encouragement to you.

As it was in the days of Noah, before we begin, let us bow our heads and ask God to bless us and to be with us.

Father in heaven, Lord, we are so grateful to you for this wonderful day that we could witness these baptisms.

And Father, we ask once again that you may have your powerful hand upon them.

And Lord, as they have repented of their sins and been baptized, I pray that you may bless them and fill them with your Holy Spirit.

Father, help us all that are seated here or that may be listening to recommit our lives to you in a meaningful and powerful way realizing that this earth is running out of time and Jesus is coming soon.

Father, please use me, bless us, and help us to be drawn closer to You, we pray in Jesus' precious name.

Now, how many of you have been interested in Noah's Ark or had done some research on it.

The Ark was built by Noah and his family, and the Bible tells us that the great flood came and destroyed the whole of the then known world, and everybody that was inside the ark was saved, and that the ark was a symbol of God's salvation to the last days.

Now the ark landed on the mountains of Ararat in Turkey and some people believe that they have found Noah's Ark.

I'm not going to go into that just now but there are people that are researching into this and believe that they have found evidence of Noah's Ark.

Now whether we find evidence of Noah's Ark or not, We have it in the Bible, amen?

And so Noah's Ark is very, an amazing story.

It's a shocking story and it has a lot of lessons for us.

It seems that People like this story of Noah's Ark.

And I came across a man, here he is, he's built an ark, a kind of an ark that's on the ground in Holland, but it's only 3 quarters the size.

And here it stands, and you can go and visit that in Holland.

Why do you think he would build an ark and remind people of the story of Noah and the flood?

And then there was, did you hear about a movie that was called Noah?

All I would say about it is that reviews said Noah is the best and the worst Bible movie you'll ever see.

It came out in 2014, And it's probably, they said, going to be the weirdest Bible movie.

It's interesting that Noah and that story, and also the Exodus, has gone to the movie theater.

But just following, or just prior to this movie coming out, guess what Remnant Publications did?

A good Seventh-day Adventist publishing organization.

They published this book, which is entitled Noah, written, It's excerpts from the writings of Ellen White, and it tells another story.

There seems to be this story that is deeply rooted in Noah and the flood.

Now, has any of you ever been to the Creation Museum?

It was a different kind of museum where people were talking about creation and showing creation and the origins of man from a different perspective than what we're usually used to hearing.

So it wasn't about evolution, it was about creation.

And in that creation museum, you have many artifacts, many descriptions and demonstrations and proofs that God's Word is true.

And in 1 section there is this little model of the ark, And it's constructed to scale.

You can see it there, how tiny the animals look, and the specific measurements are to scale.

And then maybe Some of you may have seen this billboard.

This billboard was up recently, and it says, to all our intolerant liberal friends, thank God you can't sink this ship.

And guess what the Creation Museum decided to do?

We actually saw them saying that they would do this.

They are in the process, in fact they've practically finished building a life-size to the measurement, to the foot, replica of Noah's Ark.

Here you can see a few more pictures of its construction.

And it's a powerful undertaking, taking a number of years, over $88 million to construct it, and there it lies practically finished.

Did you know that it is open to the public in a few days' time?

And it would probably be a nice trip for the family to go and see Bible-believing people going to so much effort just to get the word out.

Now I appreciated the Creation Museum very much and they have a section where they go through day 1, day 2, and they describe and display everything that God did throughout the days of creation.

And guess what happens when you get to day 7?

It goes from day 1 to day 6, and they left out day 7.

And I actually went to, and you know Ken Ham, I think he's Australian, used to watch his movies when I was younger.

I spoke to somebody at the Creation museum there, and I just kind of pointed that out to them in the hope that maybe they could do something about the seventh-day Sabbath.

But anyway, it seems that people are interested in the story of Noah.

And it's a story that is filled with a lot of drama and a lot of sadness because you would have thought that God would have loved His creation enough to keep it going.

But the Bible tells us, and this is our text that we see here, and I'd like us to just keep our Bible open at Matthew 24.

Matthew 24 is the amazing chapter on the signs of the second coming of Jesus and Jesus here in this section is talking about the second coming of Jesus and you know many people today in the Christian world don't understand that Jesus is going to come again literally, visibly, audibly, and in a dramatic and cataclysmic way.

It will be the end of the world of sin as we know it and the beginning of eternal life.

And so, you know, people talk about the end of the world.

In fact, that movie that was talking about Noah mentions the end of the world.

People are thinking that this is something that perhaps just might happen.

And so people are drawn back to the Bible.

And Jesus said these words, recorded in Matthew 24, 37 to 39, But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark and knew not, until the flood came and took them all away.

So shall also the coming of the Son of Man be." Now just by drawing a parallel, You can see that Jesus is doing all He can to alert people.

And He's likening the second coming of Jesus to the events that are described in chapter 5, 6, and 7 and onwards of the book of Genesis.

Now if we look at verse 36, It's interesting because verse 37 begins with but.

When you see that word but, what does that mean?

It means that you probably need to read the verse before or look at the context so that you can see what Jesus is really trying to say here.

Does Jesus in this passage, as some people think, some people think that nobody knew about the flood at the time of Noah and they caught everybody by surprise and it just washed them all away without warning.

Some people think that this verse 39 is saying that, where it says, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away.

I've seen some versions render it this way, verse 39, and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them away.

Did the antediluvian people know nothing about the flood, that it was coming?

You see, when you look at verse 36, It says, Jesus says, but of the day and the hour knows no man.

No, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

So the point that Jesus is making in these 3 verses is that nobody knows the day or the hour.

They know that it's going to come, they just don't know the time, the exact time.
