Christ in You: The Hope of Glory

I want to talk to you about 3 things this weekend.

Tonight I want to talk to you about Christ in us, the hope of glory.

But I want to tie that in to Revelation 22, 11, where just before the coming of Jesus, the great revelator John said, he that is filthy, let him be filthy still.

And He that is holy, let him be holy still.

We sometimes don't talk a lot about the time of trouble, but we should talk some about it for sure, because we're going to need to be prepared for it.

In the morning I want to talk about we are still His witnesses.

And I want to talk about the resurrection of Jesus and how all of that ties together our faith in the certainty of the coming of Jesus.

And then tomorrow afternoon I'd like to talk about the love of the truth in an age of deceit.

The love of the truth and an age of deceit.

Thank you for the prayer tonight asking God's blessing and I want to go to Colossians My wife loved to take notes of preacher sermons And she has this Bible that is just filled with notes in the margin.

And she told me a lot long ago, she said, you know, I don't have very many notes in the book of Colossians.

Not many preachers are preaching out of Colossians.

So I don't know if that's true or not, but that's been her experience, but we're gonna spend some time.

I love Colossians, it's a wonderful, it's 1 book that some of our friends who don't accept the Sabbath, they love this.

In fact, they hang on to it like somebody that's hanging on to desperately a straw in a tornado.

I'm not gonna get into that part of it, although I would love to.

But I'd like to start in verse 1, I mean not verse 1, chapter 1, and I'd like to start with verse 9.

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you.

He's heard of their faith, he's heard of their faithfulness, and he's Responding to that.

I've just been reading the book actually Apostles I don't want and I read the Bible through and then I actually Apostles and then I read Ellen White's through just about finished I think I have 1 more chapter and I was just amazed again at this man called the Apostle Paul This man is an amazing man Just overwhelmed with how God uses him.

And ask you that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will.

How many of you would like to be filled with the knowledge of the will of God for your life.

You know, if you're in the center of the will of God, that's the happiest place to be.

But not a lot of people know whether they're in the center of the will of God.

That you may be filled with the knowledge of His will and in all wisdom and spiritual understanding." How many would like to have all wisdom and spiritual understanding?

And verse 10, "...that you may walk worthy of the Lord." Now, this next part is very powerful to me, fully pleasing Him.

He says that you may walk worthy of the Lord.

He says that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him.

How many of us want to fully please the Lord?

What does it mean to fully please the Lord?

Wouldn't you like the Lord to be saying to everybody in heaven?

Now you wouldn't want the trials of Job maybe, But wouldn't you want everybody, the Lord saying about you, what he said about Job, have you considered my servant Job, it's been the Sabbath school lesson, have you considered him fully pleasing to the Lord, being fruitful in every good work.

How many of you would like to be successful with every good work?

And increasing in the knowledge of God, and this next part I really love.

I should have brought the quote, I didn't, but I'll share it with you out of my head.

And it was actually in that book, Alan White's Acts of the Apostles.

How many of you would like to be strengthened with all might to resist temptation and to carry out the will of God in your life.

That's a powerful statement to be strengthened with all might.

I want to say this, we do not have a weak God.

We have a Savior who can and is able to reproduce His image and character in us, even though we are fallen beings.

Now if you get outside in the secular Christian world, you don't hear much about the word we often call sanctification.

But I wanna talk tonight not just about that alone, but I wanna tell you that when you study the book of Galatians, that great, mighty book on Christ our righteousness, it starts out, the first half of the book in round figures is on justification, but it ends on sanctification.

It starts out telling us what Christ has done for us, and it ends up telling us what Christ is doing in us.

It starts out telling us that we can be transformed by the miracle-working power of God from Calvary's cross, and it ends up telling us that we become filled with the fruits of the Spirit.

Strengthen in all might according to His glorious power.

The God we serve spoke it into existence.

The very atoms that are holding all of us together are held together by His divine power.

By the way, evolution has 1 foot in the grave and another on a banana peeling.

They're all hanging on to 1 expert saying, well, if he believes it, it must be OK, kind of a thing.

I mean, it's the craziest thing in the world.

How can your body have 3 trillion cells, and every 1 of those cells is bigger, busier than New York City, and they're being programmed to tell you that this is your nose and this is your eye and how to make it and all that kind of thing, and here we are.

I mean, you can hear the scriptures that says, I think Psalm 139 where God says, I wove you in your mother's womb.

And if you look at the DNA, it looks like a woven kind of a thing.

No, Where did all that intelligence come from?

If you back these people, you ever talk to these atheists, by the way, these new atheists are having a huge impact on the young people in this country.

They're having a huge impact on Adventist kids in Adventist schools.

I mean, you back them pretty quickly into the corner, and you say, okay, well, where did all the intelligence come from?

Intelligence just doesn't come out of nowhere.

And immediately they'll jump back and they say, well, where did your God come from?

Because they know that's where you're gonna go.

Our God didn't come from anywhere, because our God always has been, and He always will be.

Now I know you're mine and my mine, our little minds can't comprehend that 1.

But the Bible says that He is from everlasting and He is to everlasting.

Alright, well, I'll start chasing rabbits here that I like to chase.

I got more I'd love to chase on that 1, too, but not that you need convincing, because you would be here tonight if you needed convincing on that.

Let's just go back a little bit more into 2 Colossians and it talks about Jesus, the incomparable Jesus I call Him.

Verse 13, He's delivered us from the power of darkness.

I'm skipping down through here just a little bit.

Conveyed us or transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.

Move down to verse 15, He's the image of the invisible God.

And you move down to verse 16, the last part, all things were created through Him and for Him.

Verse 17, and he's before all things, and in him all things consist.

Verse 18, and he's the head of the body of the church, who's the beginning of the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he may have preeminence.

Verse 19, for it pleased the Father in Him that all fullness should dwell.

Look at verse, let's go to verse 22 before 23.
