1. The Serpent’s Whisper – Spiritualism in Our Modern World!

♪♪ Father in heaven, we thank you for our Redeemer and for our King and for our friend.

We ask you today, Lord Jesus Christ, that you will come and be with us.

Open our eyes that we might see your glory.

Open our ears that we might hear your voice.

And Father, most of all, win our hearts, mine included, because unless the heart is won, everything else is vain.

I ask you, Father, that you will give me your words.

Okay, this first session is called the Serpent's Whisper, Spiritualism in our Modern World.

We're going to introduce this idea and then we're going to begin to work it in with Eastern mysticism.

Our opening text is from Romans chapter 8, and this is something I want you to remember through this entire series.

We have been told that it is the earnest expectation of all creation that is waiting for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God.

Now in the King James, which is what I read from, it says the sons of God.

And I always thought, you know, why does it just limit it to sons and I looked that word up in the Greek and I was surprised at what I found the word sons literally means children that have been begotten of God.

So that's girls and boys, sons and daughters, but it's not adopted, it's begotten.

It says in in 1st Peter and it also tells us in the Gospel of John, that we are begotten again, not by corruptible seed, but by incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.

Now, I've got to be careful because I could stay right here for the next hour and we could just share just on this 1 verse.

But there's something that is absolutely essential for us as Seventh-day Adventist Christians to recognize.

Number 1 is the Word of God lives and it abides forever.

Now I wanna ask you something, and I do enjoy a response.

How many people in here have ever been to a big city and you're walking down the sidewalk and there on the asphalt there's a crack in the sidewalk and you see grass or you see some little twig pushing its way up through that asphalt.

Because 6, 000 years ago, Christ, the Lord Jesus Christ, spoke 1 sentence and he said, let the earth bring forth grass.

That same word that spoke light in the darkness, that spoke let this grass come forth and it obeys, that same word is the word that has spoken our new birth.

We're all familiar with the great controversy, correct?

There was war in heaven and the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world.

He was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him.

How many people have heard this verse before?

I was raised in our church and our faith as a Christian and when I used to hear this verse even when I was younger like you know 2 years ago.

What I always thought about was in the last days there's going to be this great deception, Satan is going to blind people's minds, and I'm not negating that.

Yes, we know that Satan is going to appear and proclaim himself to be Christ, but there's something greater here that the Lord wants us to see.

It says, that great dragon, the old serpent, The word serpent means to hiss, to whisper, to enchant, or to cast a spell.

That's what the word serpent literally means.

Called the devil our adversary and hosatan.

That means the accuser, which deceives the whole world.

Do you know the deception that he has deceived the entire world with?

Let me tell you, it started in Genesis chapter 1.

What do you think happened when God and Christ formed Adam from the dust of the ground.

I mean, we're going to use sanctified imagination, okay?

We go back there and we see Christ taking his hands and forming this man that was perfect.

And he breathes into his mouth the breath of life and Adam opens his eyes.

Can you imagine what it was like for Adam?

He was a full-grown man in maturity, and he opened his eyes for the first moment, and he looked up into the face of our Creator.

Now What do you think Christ said to him?

The Bible tells us in the Gospel of Luke, I believe it's in Luke, in the lineage of Jesus Christ, it traces it all the way back to Adam and there's a statement right at the end of the lineage.

If you were a son of God, why did you do that bad thing that you did yesterday?

Why do you still have thoughts you're struggling with?

He accuses constantly, and he deceives, because if he can make you and I believe that we are other than what the Word of God clearly declares we are, sons and daughters of the living God, then He's got us.

Every 1 of us will go about with all our might like the children of Israel did and say, I've got to fix this.

And I know if you all are like me, you've probably been trying your entire life and it hasn't worked.

On your best day we've all probably still failed miserably.

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field.

And he said unto the woman, and this is implied, yea, hath God really said?

I know that's what it says, but that can't literally mean that.

Those of you that are in college or in university now, you're probably going to hear some professors and some textbooks that are gonna say that very same thing.

And I want you to know that it's not your professor that's saying that, it's the spirit that has inspired those words.

I know it says that, but it can't really mean that.

I know it says that God created everything in 6 days but that's not literally 6 days, right?

How about How about other texts of Scripture?

1 of the ones that I used to really have trouble with was the place where Jesus said, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, be removed, and it shall..." I can't hear you.

What did Jesus say would happen If we have faith as a grain of mustard seed, we would say to this mountain, be removed and what would happen?

And you know, I asked a pastor 1 time and I'm not condemning the pastor because he was just like me.

I was like, what do you think this means?

2. Not Against Flesh and Blood…

Father in Heaven, we thank you for our Savior.

And Father, we ask most of all that we will see Him, that we will recognize the counterfeits by looking to the truth.

And Father, we ask in the mighty name and by the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that you will bind and cast out every evil influence and any evil spirit that seeks to interfere in your work in our lives.

I appreciate y'all being patient with me.

I'm trying to get over a little bit of a cold.

I know there's a lot of people that apparently have had whatever this is.

So, if my voice starts to go, that's what it is.

I don't remember how many more slides are in this 1, so what we'll do, as long as you guys don't mind, we'll just work through these as we have time.

If we get through this 1 and we have time to keep going, we'll go ahead and start on the second 1.

But what we began talking about there was the Eastern mysticism and spiritualism and recognizing that it's the same power behind both.

Whether it be in Hollywood, or whether it be through music industry, or whether it be even in sports industry.

I don't know if you guys had ever noticed or not, but they have these necklaces that people are wearing now that is supposed to energize you.

A lot of the professional athletes are doing it.

And it's this special metal that they say is on this cord that goes around your neck and they say that that metal has been electrically energized.

And I remember when when I first was introduced to it, somebody had sent me a question.

And I thought, well, that's like an amulet, you know, in witchcraft, you know, or a gym or a stone, you know, we would take something like that, and you put it on a cord and keep it in your pocket or around your neck because it would hang in front of your thymus and your thyroid gland and it was supposed to energize you.

Well, now you can go to any sporting goods store and pay big bucks for these very professionally crafted necklaces that look scientific.

And when you call and you talk to them and you say, well, how are they energized?

I mean, did you hook them up to 110 coming out of the wall?

And if you can find somebody that's honest, which usually you can if you push a little bit and ask the right questions, they'll tell you it's energized by words being spoken over it.

So the energy that they're talking about is a spiritual energy.

It's not electrical, not something you can measure.

We're not going to be able to go into the acupuncture in this series and the Eastern healing techniques, but if you are interested in that, We have a great deal of information that we're having to leave out of these just for time's sake that is available on the the longer series especially the 1 from Australia it's called The Dragon Revealed Down Under.

That 1 is an eight-hour series, and we were not limited on time on that 1.

So if you're interested in going deeper and you wanna find out more, the part on Eastern Healing, which is number 4 of the Dragon Revealed Down Under, you can go online and Little Light Studios and us have put it on there for free.

If you only get to watch 1, that 1 is free and it's well worth seeing.

But it goes through Reiki, iridology, kinesiology, reflexology, muscle testing, homeopathy, aromatherapy.

I know aromatherapy is really big right now.

And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with oils, but you have to know where to draw the line.

And that's where the lines are being crossed.

So we go through and we show who the founders are of each of these arts, we show you quotes from them, and then we show you quotes from the Eastern mystics, and you realize it's the same thing that they're talking about.

The Bible tells us in Romans chapter 6 verse 16, Know ye not that to whom you yield yourself as servants to obey, His servants you are to whom you obey, whether of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness If I yield if I take little Johnny and Susie to a karate dojo and the instructor tells them to do something and they yield and obey and God's Word has told them not to do that thing.

They've just chosen whom they're going to serve And the Bible says they become a servant or a slave or in bondage to whom they choose to obey.

And God spake all these words saying, Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.

For I, the Lord thy God, am a jealous God." These men are men from Europe and America, and they've traveled all the way to the Shaolin Temple in Hunan Province, China and they are bowing and worshipping before the Shaolin Abbot.

He's the current Abbot that's there right now And an abbot of the temple is the 1 that oversees the temple.

Every other discipline, everything that is taught in that temple, he has to be familiar with.

That means you have some monks at Shaolin Temple that are religious monks.

They're there because they want to be a Buddhist scholar or a Buddhist master.

And then you have other monks that are at Shaolin Temple that are called the fighting monks.

They learn Buddhism, but they learn it through their martial training of Kung Fu.

And if you go to our website especially the martial arts 1 there's this is just a fact I want to throw in there.

How many people have ever seen that symbol done before?

Okay I'm not talking about sign language the love symbol but the 1 you see like in the rock and roll, right?

Okay, you always see, especially from hard rock people, the people that are the nasty end of the spectrum, right?

And then Sometime within the last 10 years, you started seeing a lot of politicians do that same symbol.

And people were saying, oh, that's the horns of Texas.

It has nothing to do with the horns of Texas.

And let me tell you what really shocked me.

When you go to the Shaolin Temple, there is a room there, a worship room, and they have altars there, and they have 3 Buddhist statues.

It's called the Mahavari Hall, and it is a worship room.

In that temple, the central idol is this great golden Buddha and he's holding his hands out like that and the idol is almost 2, 000 years old and you think wait a minute when I saw that I was still in the martial arts and I thought this is a rock and roll symbol How can this idol in China be using this rock and roll symbol?

Well come to find out that symbol is the symbol of the God Pan.

He was the God of immorality and rape and violence.

When you read that little story about Peter Pan, it's not such a nice story if you read the unedited version, okay.

We should not be setting anything in front of our eyes or in front of our children if It's not found in God's Word.

But this symbol that this Buddhist statue was holding up in his hand that you see the rock and roll stars holding up, they're saying, this is who empowers us.

That's who this Buddhist statue was saying.

This is where my power is coming from because the Buddha wasn't a god, he just claimed to be enlightened by the gods.

And then you see all these politicians holding this symbol up and all these other people.

They're literally letting you know this is where our power comes from.

These men are bowing before him because they want his blessing.

They go to the Shaolin temple and they request an audience with the abbot and you have to show I've got lineage, I've trained, my my certificates are legitimate, my lineage is legitimate, this was you know passed on generation after generation and if you can prove all that the Abbot will grant you an audience and if not with him then you get an audience with 1 of the other monks, a master or a disciple.

But if you are a high level, like an eighth don, ninth don, tenth don, you can go see him.

And he will lay hands on you and bless you and bless your art.

Now I want to share something with you and we may go in farther today on this.

If you have an instructor at a martial arts school and that instructor has been blessed by his master.

Let's say the instructor is just a third degree, okay, that's not a master.

Normally you have to be a sixth degree to be a master.

But let's say this instructor is a third degree.

He's got a sixth degree that has blessed him and he's there and he teaches his black belts and his spirit or the spirit that is in him is passed to his black belts and his black belts are training his brown belts and his green belts and that spear is being passed from the sixth and to him to the black belts to the brown belts to the green belts to your children or to your brothers and sisters.

And a lot of parents will go into a martial arts studio because when you open up your yellow page ad and You look 99% of the ads all look the same they advertise self defense self-esteem Self-discipline, you know, it's all about self Which ought to tell you something but it sounds good and They say well, I want Johnny to be motivated.

And they go and they start for the first year or so and they're like, wow, his coordination's improving and things are looking better.

And then after 3 years, they're like, you know, I didn't want little Johnny and Susie to be quite this independent.

I didn't want them questioning my authority.

I didn't want them thinking that they were better or stronger or wiser or smarter than their parents, but that spirit is past.

Whether you want it to be or not, by beholding we are verily changed.

3. Possession – and the Throne of the Heart?

♪♪♪ If you would, let's bow our heads together.

I know what that's like, having a meeting after lunch.

So let's pray that the Lord will help our food digest quickly, that it'll keep the blood in our minds and help us to be able to hear and to understand clearly.

Father in heaven, I thank you so much, all of us do, for what you have done for us in your son.

Father, you have created us to enjoy eating and fellowshipping 1 with another.

We ask for your special blessing that you will grant unto us freedom to digest our food quickly and efficiently, and that you will keep our hearts and our minds focused on thee.

Be with each of the speakers this week and this weekend, and we thank you for hearing and for answering in the precious and the mighty name of our Savior Jesus Christ Amen.

Okay praise the Lord they had to do some work on the camera, which was good, because that also gave them time to get our audio hooked up.

So that means that for those of you that are interested, After we finish this session, I'll play that audio clip where they were interviewing Denzel Washington and we're going to actually open this session with something that I would like to have opened last 1 with.

Introduction to why this matters for Christians.

IIIII That That last picture that we just saw, where it showed the Shaolin Temple and it showed the monks coming out of the temple and each of the monks was holding in their hands a golden ball, a golden globe if you would.

And I can remember when I first saw that that picture, it was in a book that I purchased from the Shaolin Temple.

And I saw that picture and I thought, what are these monks doing?

All of them coming out of the temple holding this ball.

And in the back of the book, there was a section there where you could read in Chinese and then you could read in English and it actually tells what those monks are doing.

What the Shaolin temple literally says in their book and in that picture is is that we are taking Chan Buddhism or Zen Buddhism into the world.

Into all the world is literally what that says.

And I read that and I thought, that's the Great Commission.

This gospel shall be proclaimed in all the world and then shall the end come, Jesus said.

And the Shaolin Temple is saying the same thing.

1 of the sessions that we had scheduled for today, we're probably going to be bumping it forward a little bit until tomorrow, but it's on yoga.

And what was amazing to me when I first started doing the research, you know, I trained a little bit, you know, but I had never really got involved in yoga.

It was similar to Tai Chi and the other, you know, internal arts.

But I knew that there was a connection because everything that's in China originated in India.

The Shaolin Temple was founded by an Indian Hindu master.

And he came to China to make sure that the Chinese were teaching their religion correctly.

And he had to modify Hinduism so that the Chinese could, it would fit their culture better.

And he called it Chan or Zen is what the Japanese word is Buddhism.

But anyway what I found was when I was doing the research on the yoga was is that most of the yoga websites and I want to encourage you be careful before you do too much research because you're going to run into things that you probably will wish that you hadn't have seen but Most of the Hindu websites will tell you that their number 1 goal has been the evangelism of the world with Hinduism.

And you wonder why we don't call ourselves Protestants anymore, but evangelicals.

It just means you're trying to tell the world about your religion.

Protestant has a completely different meaning.

But what was amazing to me was that the Hindu websites said they were shocked at how quickly and how easily the evangelism had been, especially in the West.

And I was going to say, we've got more people looking for rooms.

If you have chairs, ladies and gentlemen, we have room up front.

If you have an empty spot beside you, if you can just kind of consolidate a little bit.

I appreciate we have so many people that are interested.

But what shocked me was that the Hindus said we were so surprised at how quickly we could evangelize the West.

And they said there was 1 reason that had really made it easy for them to evangelize with Hinduism.

They said, we have our churches on every street corner.

Well I need to leave that because we'll talk about that tomorrow.

I could get going on yoga today and we've still got some other things we need to cover first.

How many people are familiar with that verse?

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against Principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places.

The rulers of the darkness of this world.

Normally we can quote those verses as Christians, especially as Seventh-day Adventist Christians.

But do we realize that that verse applies to you and I?

Like we talked about last session, when you're having an argument with your wife, do you Remember that you're not wrestling with flesh and blood.

Now that doesn't mean you need to tell your wife I think you have a demon, because that's gonna really start.

I know It's good to laugh, but I mean you don't say that that won't help If you're in an argument with your boss or if a police officer pulls you over and maybe you don't feel like you deserve to be pulled over and He's aggressive and you feel like you know, I'm gonna put my guard up, you're not gonna talk to me that way, I deserve better than this.

If we take that approach, we believe we're wrestling with flesh and blood.

And you know, if we think for a moment that we're fighting with flesh and blood, we're going to use carnal weapons.

You may win the argument, but you will never win the peace between you and your husband, your wife, your son, your daughter, your mom, your dad, your boss.

We have to remember that who we're wrestling with is Satan and the fallen angels.
