My Lord and I

Heavenly Father in heaven, we know that you are returning soon.

We know that the great prophecies of Daniel and Revelation are coming to an end.

So in this little bit of end time, You are particularly sending your servants all around the globe to call your people out of Babylon to be sealed among the 144, 000.

And Father, you have sent your son, Your sealed son all the way from America, just to call us your sons and daughters in Port Mosby City, in Papua New Guinea, to register our names amongst the 144, 000 sealed.

Father God, Jesus Holy Spirit, please talk through him again so that we may respond positively again decided for your soon return.

I know you have things to do tonight, Bible studies to conduct and all that sort of thing, so I want to let you go early enough.

Let's read the last 2 verses of the book of Acts chapter 4.

Now in the early church they had a very unusual arrangement which I wish existed today.

The poorer members of the church were supported by the richer members.

The poorer members of the church were supported by the richer members and so those who had 2 houses lots of land they would sell a house sell the land bring the money to the Apostles and the Apostles would decide who would get what according to the person's needs and Joses who by the Apostles was surname Barnabas which is being interpreted the son of consolation, a Levi of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

Now, of all those who were selling land and being honest about the money they received, the 1 who was named is Barnabas.

He's identified as a generous member of the early church who sold land and gave the money to the apostles that they might relieve the suffering of the poorer members of the church.

Acts chapter 9, we'll read from verse 26, our subject, my Lord and I.

Acts 9, reading from verse 26, And where Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples, but they were all afraid of him and believed not that he was a disciple.

The disciples knew the life Saul had lived.

He would arrest the Christians and have them killed.

And so when he came to Jerusalem saying he was converted, all those men they were afraid, verse 27, but Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared unto them how he had met the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

Barnabas was the only 1 with the courage to go and meet Saul and bring Saul and introduce him to all the other apostles who were terrified of Saul.

Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and apostles as Barnabas and Simeon that was called Niger and Lucius of Cyrene and Manan which had been brought up with Herod the Tetrarch and Saul.

And that's not accidental because Barnabas was a leading apostle even higher than Saul at 1 point in the history of the early church.

Verse 2, while they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, what?

Barnabas and Saul for the work where to I have what?

Now the Holy Ghost speaks to these apostles and prophets and of the 5 he says, I want Barnabas and Saul.

Barnabas was a powerful apostle, powerful man, generous man, sold his land to support the poor.

He was the 1 with the courage to go find Saul and introduce him to the other apostles who were scared to death of Paul.

It was he at Antioch while he was praying that a Holy Ghost said separate Barnabas and Saul.

Verse 3, so when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them they sent them away.

So they're being sent forth by the Holy Ghost Barnabas directly called and commissioned by the Holy Ghost that's a powerful spiritual man what's our subject my Lord and I But let's go to Galatians chapter 2.

Let's look at an incident in the life of Barnabas.

Galatians chapter 2 we shall read from verse 11.

This was a meeting in Antioch and Paul tells us what happened at that meeting.

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face because he was to be blamed for that before certain came from James he did eat with the Gentiles but when they were come he withdrew and separated himself fearing them which were of the circumcision now Peter would eat with the Gentiles when no Jews were around.

Let me say again, that mighty Apostle Peter, he would eat and mingle with the Gentiles when no Jews were around.

But when the Jews came from James he withdrew and separated himself fearing them which were of the circumcision.

He was afraid of what the Jews would say about his correct behavior.

When Peter was eating with the Gentiles, that was correct biblical Christian behavior.

When the Jews came, under the pressure of the crowd, Peter changed his behavior and acted like a baptized hypocrite.

Verse 13, the other Jews dissemble likewise with him.

When they saw what Peter did, they followed Peter's example and the other Jews dissembled likewise with him.

Now pick up the verse with me if you have the King James Version and finish verse 13.

Was carried away, finish the verse, with their dissimulation.

This holy man, this man the Holy Ghost called, this man the Holy Ghost sent, this man who alone was unafraid of Saul, this man who introduced Saul to the apostles, this man allowed himself to be swayed into sin by the crowd.

But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel.

When I saw that they walked not uprightly, according to what?

The truth of the gospel, then they were walking in lies.

Barnabas, Peter, the other Jews were sinning.

They were walking contrary to the gospel.
