Timeline of Forgiveness

Holy Father, our Father in God in heaven, Father, we thank you for the preciousness of life.

We thank you for breath in our lungs and a heart that beats.

And Father, we thank you that you saw us fit to worship with you in this Sabbath day in spirit and truth.

And Father, much has been invested by the church for this church family to gain a blessing.

So I pray and plead that I be a blessing, not a curse to your people.

I ask that you fill me with your Holy Spirit, that you use me, a broken, sinful man, to preach a beautiful, glorious message.

And so, Father, may your people see your love, may your people see your redemption, through the study of this prophecy that we know all too well.

And may we carry this message to all the world, this we pray, in Jesus' name, amen.

A world that is very, very, very partisan.

Politically, this nation is very divisive.

Ethnically and racially, this nation is very divisive.

Even within the church, it has become very, very divisive.

All sorts of theological issues, all sorts of different interpretations, all sorts of different ideas have been conflicting from progressive to conservative to present truth.

Our church seems to be a church full of factions at times.

But there's a solution, because with every problem God has a solution.

And so the servant of the Lord, the spirit of prophecy, gave a solution to the disunity in the church today.

Notice what she writes in early writings page 63 paragraph 2.

Inspiration states, there are many precious truths contained in the word of God but it is what?

Now I have seen the dangers of the messengers running off from the important points of present truth to dwell upon subjects that are not calculated to what the flock?

So we need to know what present truth is, amen?

Satan won't take every possible advantage to injure the cause, but such subjects as the sanctuary, in connection with the 2, 300 days, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

So present truth that will unite the flock is the sanctuary, 2, 300 days, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Our perfectly calculated to explain the past and the movement and show what our present position is.

Establish the faith of the doughty and give certainty to the glorious future.

These I have frequently seen were the principal subjects on which the messengers should dwell.

So 1 of the components to bring unity to the flock that is present truth is the 2300 day prophecy.

And today we're gonna learn deeper insights to the 2300 day prophecy.

Now question, where is the 2300 day prophecy found?

Daniel chapter 8 verse 14 the Bible says unto 2, 300 days then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.

And we know that a day equals a year in Bible prophecy Numbers 1434 in Ezekiel chapter 4 verse 6 so that 2300 days is 2300 years.

And when Daniel was given this prophecy, something happened when he was given the prophecy.

The Bible says in Daniel chapter 8 verse 27, when Daniel was given the prophecy of the 2, 300 days, that he fainted, that he became weak.

You see, Daniel concluded that the sanctuary was a literal temple.

It was deeply disturbed that it would take another 2, 300 years because Daniel was in captivity in Babylon, that he thought that Israel would be in captivity under Babylon for another 2, 300 years.

Now how would you like it when you're anticipating you'll be free?

Well, for example, for me, I counted the days for Thanksgiving vacation.

Not that I hate my job, but I just needed rest.

As a school teacher, you work about 14, 15, even 16 hours a day sometimes, just preparing and doing everything.

So I was counting the days when Thanksgiving break would happen, and suppose I was in a perpetual loop that that Friday happened over and over again for another year.

You see, Daniel had a similar experience, except he was in a far more difficult situation because he was anticipating liberty, going back to his homeland to worship freely.

And so Daniel was really bothered and he fainted when he was given this prophecy.

So what did Daniel do when he was disturbed?

When we're bothered and we're disturbed, we often go to a friend, we often go to a family member, we often go to a loved 1, we go to everybody else but 1 that can give us a solution to all our problems, which is God.

Rely more on flesh and blood and fallible man than infallible God.

And Daniel, when he was deeply disturbed, what did he do?

And so, the Bible says in Daniel chapter 9 verse 2 and 3, the Bible says in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood by books the number of the years whereof the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish 70 years in the desolation of Jerusalem.

So Daniel was anticipating that the 70 years would finish where the Jewish nation will be free from Babylon's yoke as Jeremiah prophesied.

And so Daniel was anticipating that, but when he got to 2300 day prophecy, thinking it's 2300 years, he thought, oh no, God is adding to our punishment another 2300 years to the 70 years but when Danny was deeply disturbed knows what Daniel did the Bible says and I sent my face unto the Lord God to seek by what Prayer and supplication and fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

You see, oftentimes when we are in trouble, we don't go to God, we go to man.

Prayer is oftentimes the third or fourth option in our lives, is that correct?

We often try this option and that option and then when that doesn't work we then go to God.

But Daniel went to the habit of going to God first.

And so Daniel prayed to get an understanding of the prophecy because he wanted to know, because wait a minute, has God changed his mind?

So how did God respond to Daniel's prayer?

And while I was speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God.

But not only did he pray, but he prayed also for his church.

You see, the Bible says that Daniel was a righteous man, he was a just man.

Daniel was faithful in the time of Daniel chapter 1 when Nebuchadnezzar sought to feed the people wine and Babylonian food.

He was faithful in all sorts of persecution.

But yet he confessed the sins of not only himself, but also the people.

In other words, he identified with the weaknesses and the brokenness of a broken church.

When I first started to be revived, at the age of 25, that's when I truly became a Seventh-day Adventist.

I was born in the Seventh-day Adventist church.

I'm a fourth-generation Seventh-day Adventist, but at the age of 25, something clicked.

The spirit of God went into me, and I started to learn about these 3 angels' messages, and then I started to feel that, oh, these people are the problem, and I'm the solution.

And God has to lead me through very painful experiences and to humble me and to break me to realize that Peter, you're nothing.

You're not separate from that broken body.

And so Daniel identified with the brokenness of the church.

The Bible says he was a righteous and just man, but he confessed the sins of the church as the sins of himself.

If we truly want a change on the church, we need to identify with the brokenness of the church itself.

We have to identify, it's not their problem, it's my problem.

You see, I did a wedding homily a few weeks ago, second time I did this, And I'm a single guy, so I really don't know what to say and what to advise the husband and the wife.

Judgment Justified

Holy Father, our Father God in heaven, Father, I am pleading with you that your Holy Spirit fill my mind and fill my heart.

And Father, this church has invested much to gain a blessing from your word here today by bringing me here.

So Father, I ask that you honor their sacrifice.

May I be a blessing, not a curse through people.

I ask that you fill us all with your Holy Spirit, that hearts will be touched by your love, and that we grow closer to you.

And through these messages and through our practical decisions that we be ready for your son's soon return.

And so Father, we ask that you do something special here today.

Use my broken self to perform a miracle today through your power.

1 of the most controversial doctrines that our church holds that is unique is that about the investigative judgment.

There are some, many of our progressive brethren, that are very, very much against the investigated judgment.

There are some that are afraid of the investigated judgment.

In fact, I remember a few years ago, myself and our ministry director, Evangelist Taj Paklub, he was presenting on the sanctuary, and between the meetings, I was having lunch with a doctor and he was sharing to me how the Adventist message is fearful to him, that the investigative judgment is something that is scary, that is something that is fearful.

And when I encounter these things about how prophecy is scary, how this message causes great fear, it caused me to really think and evaluate and start studying again.

How can the investigated judgment be connected to the gospel?

Because I believe it's not separate because the investigated judgment is given by Jesus.

In fact, I believe many people may be isolating certain passages like this from Great Converse page 482, paragraph 1.

Inspiration writes, every man's work passes in review before God and is registered for faithfulness or unfaithfulness.

Opposite each name in the books of heaven is entered with terrible exactness every wrong word, every selfish act, every unfulfilled duty, and every secret sin with every artful dissembling.

Heaven sent warnings of reproofs neglected, wasted moments, unimproved opportunities, the influence exerted for good or for evil, with its far-reaching results, all are chronicled by the recording angel.

How many of you think this statement is pretty scary, just by itself?

It's like we're in a virtual reality show, and all of heaven is watching.

Not only our actions, but every thought that we have, every motive we have is passed through this judgment.

But I'm here to tell you that the judgment is not scary, that the judgment is good news.

But there is a mechanism why the judgment is so solemn.

God is trying to emphasize that through the judgment to realize that we are Nothing without God.

He wants us to lay our pride to the dust.

Now, in a judgment, when we're being judged by something, what do we need in order to be judged?

There needs to be a criteria or a standard, isn't that correct?

Students are judged by the test that they have, from the criteria of the right answer.

In a court, we are judged by the criteria of that law.

So what is the criteria of this judgment?

Notice what the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 12, verse 13 and 14.

The Bible says, let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter.

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

For God shall bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.

So the criteria of this judgment is what?

What is the function of the 10 Commandments?

The Bible says in Romans chapter 3, verse 20, the Bible says, therefore by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in the sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

So the law's function is to reveal to us our defects of character.

You know, for Korean folk, we want perfect skin.

And when I judge myself through the standards of Korean beauty, I see age spots, wrinkles, and everything, and I see imperfection.

The law, the 10 Commandments, show the defects of our character.

And what is the end result of sin as the law reveals the knowledge of sin?

The Bible says, in James chapter 1, verse 15, then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin, and sin when it is finished bringeth forth death.

When we're judged by a standard of a law that reveals our imperfections that bring forth death.

Notice what the Bible says in Romans chapter 1 verse 18.

The Bible says, For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth and unrighteousness.

So the end result of this judgment, of this law, that reveals the knowledge of sin, that brings forth death, brings forth the wrath of God.

But for every condemnation, there's an opportunity for redemption.

For every Sodom and Gomorrah, there was a message for Lot and his family to escape.

For every destruction of Jerusalem, Jesus gave Matthew 24 for all righteous people to escape the judgment.

So for every condemnation, for every wrath, there's also redemption.

And although the judgment reveals condemnation, there is redemption in the judgment.

Notice what the Bible says in Romans chapter 5 verse 6.

The Bible says this, that for when we were yet without strength in due time, Christ died for the who?

And what does Christ dying for the ungodly do?

What happens because Christ died for the ungodly?

Notice what the Bible says in Romans chapter 5, verse 8.

The Bible says this, For God commanded His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, deserving death, deserving the wrath of God, ungodly, Christ died for us.

Much more than being now justified by his blood, declared not guilty, we shall be saved from wrath through him, because he died for thee ungodly.

So it frees us from the condemnation of the judgment.

When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

So, in other words, the judgment reveals that without Jesus we are nothing.

The judgment reveals our true condition, and so when we know our true condition, we are in need of a savior.

We need something above and beyond ourselves.

The reason why many of us fall is because of pride.

We like to figure these things out among ourselves.

But when we reveal the law of righteousness, and we know that because the law shows us that we are weak, wretched, and poor, when we realize this, we can now come to Jesus and receive the declaration of not guilty.

Now, what is the significance of Jesus dying for our sins?

Isaiah 53 verse 5, the Bible says, but he was wounded for, whose transgressions?

The chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus took the penalty of condemnation on our behalf.

You know, like I said yesterday, 1 of the things I hate is to be blamed for something that I did not do.
