Signals From the General

Heavenly Father, I thank you, Lord, that your angels are in this room and you love us so much, Father.

And I'm praying in the name of Jesus, Lord, that you would beat back any demonic force and that your spirit and heavenly forces will reign in this room.

Speak to our hearts the only way your spirit knows how to.

Not by might nor by power but by thy spirit saith the Lord of hosts.

And I claim that right now in Jesus' name, amen.

The general, Cestius, Roman general, came with his armies and surrounded Jerusalem.

For some apparent reason, Cestius and his Roman army just packed up and left.

The Jews in the city were like, hallelujah, praise God, this is a sign from Jehovah.

The Jews chased after the Romans and they were killing them.

Meanwhile, there were others in that very same city that saw that.

And instead, they grabbed all their goods and they high-tailed it out of there.

When the Jews returned after the slaughter of the Romans, a short time after that, Titus returned with a large Roman army under a forced march and they got there quick and Titus laid siege to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem fell in AD 70 and was burnt down and the temple was burned down Josephus tells us the historian that approximately over 1 million people perished But the people that escaped The Jews said this is a sign from God, but other people said this is a sign that God is not gonna be with us We got to get out of here The people that escaped were the Christians At the fall of Jerusalem not 1 Christian perished, You know why?

Because 40 years earlier, Jesus was riding on the mule.

And everybody was saying, Hosanna in the highest, blessed be He that cometh in the name of the Lord.

And as Jesus crested the top of the hill, He looked at the temple, 1 of the wonders of the world.

The sunset was kissing the marble and gold-capped pillars.

As the people looked at the temple of God with the Shekinah glory, and looked at the Messiah, the coming King.

Boy, they were singing praises, but amidst the song of joy, there was a note of discord.

They turned around to see Jesus weeping heavily, sobbing.

I mean, he was crying so bad that he was like moaning and making noise.

When Jesus was weeping it was more profound and more deep than what he did outside of Lazarus tomb.

You see he cried there but this type of tears left all of heaven silent and the angels were dumbfounded.

And Jesus said the words as he looked at the temple in Jerusalem, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto your peace, but now it is hid from your eyes.

That very week, Jesus would have his back torn open.

That very week, you know, he was entering into the sheep gate, the Lamb of God.

That very week, he would be denied and betrayed.

Just outside those very walls, he would be crucified, but he wasn't crying for himself.

Jesus saw down the line 40 years later, the 1000000 people that had perished.

Josephus said this, that they were running out of trees to crucify people, running out of space, women were eating their own children, killing each other, horrible things, and that's why Jesus was crying, because the Prince of Peace came.

If you would only know the things that belong to your peace.

And I've came myself and you rejected me.

And 40 years later, they were aware of the signs of the times.

And when they saw the sign, they knew what to do and how to do it, when to do it.

In ancient battlefields, generals would give signals to their soldiers.

They would use pennants or flags or trumpets or drums.

And if you were a soldier, the general would be on high vantage ground so he can overlook the battle.

Wave that blue pennant and let the reinforcements back them up.

And so as a soldier on the field, you would have to receive the signal in order to know how to move.

Now keep in mind as the battle rages on the signals change because the battle flows.

We have a supreme tactician and general, the captain of the host of the Lord named Jesus Christ.

And when he gives a signal and his soldiers receive it and execute, his soldiers become unstoppable.

Matter of fact, he has never lost a battle.

And so for the enemy, his only hope of winning, by all means necessary, I have to interrupt the signal.

The message today, what is the specific signal as the great controversy has waged on from heaven to earth throughout the years?

What is the specific signal at this point and stage in the battle that the general is giving to his people and is the enemy blocking it?

Tonight's message is entitled Signals from the General.

As the end draws near and the work of giving the last warning to the world extends, it becomes more important for those who accept present truth to have a clear understanding of the nature and influence of the testimonies, which God in his providence has linked with the work of the third angel's message from its very rise.

She is saying that the testimonies, the influence and the nature of the testimonies have been linked to the third angel's message.

So the third angel's message is linked to what, everyone?

In ancient times, God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles.

In these days, he speaks to them by the testimonies of his Spirit.

There was never a time when God instructed his people more earnestly than he instructs them now concerning his will and the course that he would have them pursue.

She is saying now more than ever God is trying to communicate his will, give his signals than ever before.

But notice this, in times past he's spoken through his prophets and Apostles but now he speaks through the testimonies of his spirit how does God speak now everyone the testimonies of his spirit remember that this is what she's saying listen to this Now this is Ellen White speaking of her own writings.

God is either teaching his church, reproving their wrongs, and strengthening their faith, or he is not.

God does nothing in partnership with Satan.

My work bears the stamp of God or the stamp of the enemy.

The testimonies are of the spirit of God or of the devil.

As the Lord has manifested himself through the spirit of prophecy, past, present, and future have passed before me.

I have been shown faces that I have never seen and years afterward I knew them when I saw them.

I have been aroused from my sleep with a vivid sense of subjects previously presented to my mind and I have written at midnight letters that have gone across the continent and arriving at a crisis to save great disaster to the cause of God.

A power has impelled me to reprove, rebuke wrongs that I had not even thought of.

My work is from God or it's from the devil.

The testimonies of God's Spirit is from above or beneath.

Actually she says this, if the testimonies speak not according to the Word of God, reject them.

So my question to you is what are the testimonies?

The testimonies are testimonies to the church, all Ellen White's writings, and testimony to the church, volume 1 through 9, testimonies to ministers.

If she's right, and God nowadays speaks through the testimonies.
