The Weeping Prophet of Hope

Holy Father, our Father God in heaven, Father, you know me?

I'm fragile, I'm dust, I'm a sinful man in flesh.

And so Father, in spite of myself, may I be a blessing, not a curse to your people.

So Father, today I ask that you fill me with your Holy Spirit, that your love, your glory and your truth will be uplifted here today.

And that mind, heart and deal will be touched by your love and our hearts will be even more prepared for your son's soon coming.

We ask that you do something special here today on this Sabbath day for someone that's hurting, that someone's that's depressed, or someone feeling hopeless.

Father, In the midst of that emotional void, we thank you that you fill us with hope.

And so Father, may hope be seen here today.

I started to do ministry in the year 2002 at the age of 25.

At a blink of an eye I'm now 42 years old and once you reach your 40s You start to calculate your time.

I had a mentor that preaches last day events that passed away suddenly this past November.

At 75 years old, he was stalwart, he was strong, he was 6 foot 9, And Thanksgiving weekend, he passed away with a heart attack.

And it calculated in my mind in my life, I only have a certain amount of prime years left in my life.

And 1 thing that I do not want to do is I do not want to be in a hospital, fading away, old, losing my mental faculties.

That's why I want to hasten Jesus' coming.

This past school year, I was a sponsor, or I am a sponsor, and we have Junior Senior Banquet.

And I'm also an AP teacher, AP US History, AP Government, so that takes a lot of time, a lot of grading.

We have the Junior Senior Banquet coming up.

And as Adventist teachers, we have to do a lot of extracritical activities.

Anything arts, crafts, anything like that.

The only talent I have is running my mouth.

I can't sing, I can't do anything with my hands.

And our lead sponsor told me, you know what, we need to construct some games.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

We need you to construct a ping pong in a cup game.

The default answer, look it up in YouTube.

And so I looked it up in YouTube and Pinterest and whatever those sites are and went to Home Depot and walked aimlessly and worked really hard in building this game.

Have you been in a situation where you spent a lot of time.

You worked really hard, and you don't feel appreciated for it, and you feel it's a waste of time.

There is a prophet in sacred history that was commissioned to do something that we may see right now in this time as a waste of time.

Now notice the condition of the church in Jeremiah's time.

The Bible says this, I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing.

They strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness.

They are all unto them, unto me, as Sodom, and having us thereof as Gomorrah." So God's people, God's church at this time, was committing adultery, and it was equated to Sodom and Gomorrah.

How would you feel that you attended a church that God called Solomon Gamor?

Like committed adultery, immorality, vast hypocrisy.

Now, what type of worship did the people of God do at this time?

Now, may I remind you, this is God's church at this time.

This is the apple of God's eye, and this is the condition of God's church.

Now, the type of worship that was going on, notice what the Bible says in Jeremiah 32, verse 32.

The Bible says this in Jeremiah 32, verse 32.

I'm on a time limit, that's why I PowerPointed my slides.

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger.

They, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and they have turned unto me the back and not the face, though I taught them, raising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

They set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name to defile it." Now here's the kicker.

And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech, which I commanded them not, neither it came unto my mind that they should do this abomination to cause Judah to sin.

It was so bad at God's church at this time that they did child sacrifices.

We think adultery is bad, but they kill their own children.

The religious leaders turn a blind eye to the indiscretions of the politicians, waiting and wanting their political agenda to be passed.

The political and the religious leadership was corrupt.

But God raised a prophet, a prophet named Jeremiah, And he had a message for God's church at this time.

And what's the Bible says in Jeremiah chapter 3, verse 12, the Bible says this, go, he told Jeremiah to go.

And proclaim these words toward the north and saying, return thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord, and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you, for I am merciful, saith the Lord, and I will not keep anger forever.

You see, Even in the midst of this moral depravity, even in the midst of child sacrifices, even in the midst of the lowest of the low, how many of you want to go into church that commits child sacrifices?

And God says that my anger will not be forever, for I am merciful.

Are you struggling with a sin today, brothers and sisters?

Do you think that your sin is so much and so heinous that God cannot forgive you?

But if God is willing to forgive those that commit child sacrifices, how much is God willing to forgive you?

Only acknowledge thine iniquity that thou has transgressed against the Lord thy God and has scattered thy ways to the stranger under every green tree and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the Lord.

Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord, for I am married unto you.

And I will take you, 1 of a city and 2 of a family, and I'll bring you to Zion.

It was a message of mercy and repentance.

You know, a few months ago I officiated a wedding.

Kind of weird for a single guy to officiate a wedding.

But I've been thinking of marriage in the prophetic sense, in the plan of redemption a lot.

That's the only way I could communicate it because I have no practical experience.

I have hope this is where people try to meet their spouses.

The purpose of marriage is intimacy to know all the good and the bad of that person with their flaws apparent, yet flaws and all, you still love that person.
