Global Medical Evangelism & its Relationship to AMEN

I want to encourage and affirm every 1 of you in the work that God has ordained for these very last times of Earth's history.

Medical missionary work is to take a prominent place in all that is done within the church worldwide.

That's an interesting word to use since mark is very integral in Amen, but a huge mark in the ongoing outreach of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Advent movement.

We call medical missionary work today, Comprehensive Health Ministry.

We just finished a global conference on health and lifestyle at Loma Linda with a focus on your brain, your body.

Some of you may have been there and participated.

It was a tremendous meeting and tremendous reception on the part of those who were attending.

Comprehensive health ministry or medical missionary work was featured in an enormous way.

I want you to know that what you are doing is far beyond what normal individuals would be doing in terms of reaching out to touching people in every facet of life, because you are doing Christ's method.

When we read in Scripture the amazing little brief indication of what Jesus did, and I love to preach on this section in Matthew chapter 9 and in verse 35, which begins a beautiful series of 4 verses, but I'm just going to focus on verse 35.

It says here that Jesus went about all the cities and villages, in fact, he went just about everywhere, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

We know also from the Spirit of Prophecy that Jesus spent more time healing than he did preaching.

The work you are doing, not only in a practical way, but in a verbal communication and a modeling to your patients, to those who you come in contact with, is absolutely invaluable.

In the book Medical Ministry, which I have to tell you is 1 of my favorite books.

Some people are not so excited about compilations, but I want to tell you that book inspires you.

And if you haven't looked at it recently, I urge you to do it.

On page 25, it says, the gospel of Christ, you know, 3 angels' messages, first angel preaching the everlasting gospel, that's our work, is to be bound up with medical work.

And medical missionary work is to be bound up with medical work and medical missionary work is to be bound up with the gospel ministry.

You are intimately and in an integral way bound to what the church is doing in these last days.

And if people take advantage of you or take you for granted or don't involve you, Please don't be offended.

Know that at the very highest levels in the church, we intend to include you in the outward bound evangelistic activity around the world and in your own neighborhood.

Now if people don't understand your particular role in this ministry, be patient with them and educate them.

It goes on to say the world needs the efforts of medical missionaries who are bound up with the gospel message.

The ministers of the gospel cannot spend their time and strength in doing the work that needs to be done in this line.

But by the influence of pen and voice, they can strengthen this work.

They are to look upon it as the helping hand of the gospel, regarding it with great appreciation as the means of preparing hearts for the sowing of the seed of truth and of bringing many to Christ.

Nancy and I had the privilege of being in India in June to hold, and I can say that here and don't put it on social media because We need to be very careful, but holding evangelistic meetings in Kolkata.

I mentioned that briefly on Wednesday night for those of you who were there.

We were having to be careful because as you know, India is highly charged in terms of the Hindu influence in the government as well as, of course, in society.

We had to be careful you don't mention the word evangelism, you don't mention the word baptism, you don't mention things like that because that can inflame, but you serve people.

Prior to the evangelistic meetings, and I have to tell you, I was so thrilled.

80% of the attendees probably were Hindu.

And to see in their eyes, night after night, as we presented, and Nancy presented the health message every night, and they responded beautifully, she's a physical therapist, and then I presented the Bible message.

I used, of course, Mark's Revelation of Hope.

And the health presentations Nancy used were the celebrations from the GC Health Ministries Department, very, very fine presentations.

When I looked into the eyes of people and saw their attraction to the Word of God and to what God had done in their lives already, it was amazing to see their response and how they raised their hands in commitment, they stood in commitment.

2 times I had them come forward for commitment.

Just prior to the evangelistic meetings, they had what they call over there, I believe they call it a medical camp.

They registered people for what is an unbelievable operation on cataracts, done by someone that some of you probably know, Dr.

He is the medical director for the Ruby Nelson Hospital operated by Seventh-day Adventists in India.

He has perfected the art of cataract surgery so that he now can actually do a cataract surgery in about 30 seconds.

He just showed me this morning a depiction on his laptop.

He and his team came in and performed cataract surgeries in Kolkata.

And as I was beginning my meetings, they had a special meeting with those who had just had cataract surgery.

And of course they were wearing sunglasses.

You could hardly suppress their enthusiasm.

My point is this, medical missionary work, comprehensive health ministry, and the gospel ministry and proclamation are bound in an eternal connection and you are part of it.
