Welcome once again to our next broadcast of AWR 360 Health Live.

We are so glad that you've joined us today and thank you for being with us.

That was a wonderful video recapping some of the activities that AWR has been doing with free medical clinics around the world.

And we hope by God's grace to do our next 1 in Papua New Guinea sometime in the next year.

So I wanna welcome once again, our very own medical director, Dr.

And you have somebody very special next to you today.

Her name is Mariah, and she's 9 years old.

And she's going to serve as my assistant this morning in the Doctor in the Kitchen.

And we also want to welcome our very own Dr.

Zeno Charles Marcell, who is 1 of the Associate Directors of Health Ministries for the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Zeno, Glad to have you with us today also.

And so we're glad to have all of us here.

Today's topic is Doctor in the Kitchen and also answering your questions, Q&A.

Well, before we get anywhere else, I just want to share a verse as we start off, which is kind of our theme verse for AWR360 Health.

And you know, the Bible wants us to prosper and to be in good health.

And in 3 John, verse 2, the Bible says, Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health just as your soul prospers.

Friend, that's what we want for you and that's why we're doing these programs because we want all of us to experience that health that God wants us to have.

Lela, we had some very exciting programs just the last couple of weeks.

Last week, it was on the benefits of hydrothermal therapy.

And the week before, We were looking at what I eat affects me and you.

If you've missed any of those programs, you can go to our YouTube page, AWR, Adventist Word Radio, and find them there to watch those programs from previous weeks.

Lela, I should also mention, or maybe you want to mention what happened last night if people want to watch that as well.

Lela Yes, last night we had an amazing symposium.

It was on hydrothermal therapy for physicians by physicians.

We had, like I said, it was a wonderful panel.

So if you didn't get a chance to watch it live last night, you can go to awr.org forward slash health and watch really some good information.

But you're right, Pastor Kyle, we learned some good principles on how to actually put or implement hydrothermal therapy.

So if we would like, we can demonstrate a couple of those things with Dr.

Absolutely And we have some questions on that.

Just to recap from last week, before we do, I think I'd just like to have a word of prayer to open our program, and then we can get right into some of those questions and those demonstrations.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this opportunity today to have this program, AWR 360 Health.

We ask that you would be with us and help us to learn something new so that we can have better health ourselves and also help those who may be struggling.

I pray that Lord, you would be with our world right now as people are suffering from this coronavirus pandemic.

Please continue to be with our healthcare providers on the front lines and everyone who is suffering from this disease and we pray that it would turn people's hearts to you.

Lela, you've got some practical things to show us.

We had some questions that came in about wanting to just recap some of the ways that we can do hydrothermal therapy at home.

Maybe it's through the shower, through those towel, I don't know what you want to call them, towel treatments that we talked about last week.

So can you lead us through some of those practical ways that we can do that at home?

Well, while I'm getting together some of the equipment for the foot baths because that's what Mariah and I are going to show.

Zeno, could you talk to our viewers briefly as far as hot and cold showers are concerned?

ZENO MWAKALEI Hot and cold showers we sometimes call contrast showers simply because what we're doing is we're using hot water for 1 part and then cold water the other part.

So how you do this is actually very simple.

You turn on the hot water in your shower as hot as you can stand it.

And over time that can go hotter and hotter.

Then you go back to the hot for 3 minutes.

What this does is the hot raises your temperature a little bit, okay, and then the cold actually causes the skin to tighten up and get the blood vessels become constricted.

So after you do a hot and cold shower, you actually feel warmer after the cold than if you were to just end with the hot and walk out of the shower stall.

After that, of course, you should do a vigorous Towel dry dry your hair and everything you don't want to get chilled right put on some warm clothes and you're good to go now This is a wonderful tonic that you can do every day.

You don't have to do this because of coronavirus or rhinovirus or any virus or any bacteria.

So today is basically the practical application for the medical symposium done Sunday night.

Before we do get into today's program, I wanna have a word of prayer to open up this time together.

And we also, actually before I have prayer, I wanna introduce our other guest, Dr.

Angie is coming to us live from Silver Spring, Maryland.

And Angie is the Health Director for the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Brower, great to have you with us today as well.

Friends, before we begin our program, just want to bow our heads for a word of prayer and ask God to be with us and bless us during this hour.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the opportunity to get together today to talk about health and how we can boost our own health so that we can be a blessing to others.

We ask your blessing on today's broadcast and be with us as we open your word, as we also look at the science behind how to live healthier as we go through this time.

We thank you and continue, Lord, to be with all those who are struggling on the front lines of this battle with the coronavirus, and we pray that you would give them strength and keep them safe.

Lila, before we get to today's topic at hand, I just want to remind everyone of this verse, which we often talk about.

It's a verse from Matthew chapter 11 and verse 23.

The Bible says, Jesus says, come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

We've talked a lot about, do you want rest?

From all the struggles of life, all the things that we battle in this world and you have a really good acronym that not only teaches us how to have rest in the physical sense but also spiritually.

Can you just, Can we do a quick review of that and what that means and how it relates to our health program?

Well, you know, I think it's really interesting that the principles that we're talking about Jesus actually gave us in the Garden of Eden, All the way back at the beginning of time, these principles of so simple, fresh water, extra water every day.

We talked about hydrothermal therapy and the external benefits of water.

Fresh air, A for air, we're gonna talk about today.

N for nutrition, we discussed that last week and a couple of weeks before that and the powerful antioxidant effects that proper nutrition plays.

Temperance or to use moderately things that are good for us and avoid those things that are harmful for us.

Rest, of course sleep, the benefits of 7 hours of sleep are tremendous and we're going to be going into that later on as well.

Exercise, that's next week's topic is in addition to temperance.

So we're going to be looking forward to that.

Sunshine, We'll be talking about that today and the effects that antioxidants are and the body's immune system has specifically with the ultraviolet radiation.

And then of course the foundational principle of all of them trusting in God or trust in divine power.

So each 1 of these definitely I believe plays a role as far as our overall health is concerned, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

But also, I believe we've begun to investigate the relationship that it has with COVID-19 and boosting our immune system.

And I think we've been surprised to see the benefits overall.

So I guess that would be our introduction to WantRest.

Lila, could we just do a quick, I know a lot of people were on last week And some people had some questions about the topic from last week, which was Doctor in the Kitchen.

I actually really enjoyed last week's program because all week I've been thinking, man, I need to get more garlic in my diet.

I need to get that allicin that you talked about.

Did you cook this week is what I want to know.

I did make a peanut butter sandwich and I did make a waffle.

So I know that didn't have any garlic in it, but I did do a couple of those things.

Let's talk about garlic very briefly here.

Garlic has allicin, and you remember that term.

Allicin is also in other natural foods as well, such as onions and those kinds of things.

Garlic is a tremendous, tremendous antioxidant.

It actually has antiviral, antimicrobial, and antibacterial properties.

The research really is very exciting as far as Allison is concerned.

We also looked at things such as lemon juice, vitamin C, you know, there's a lot of ideas out there as far as supplements with vitamin C.

3. Nutrition & Exercise: Improve Your Immunity

Welcome everyone to another edition of AWR360 Health Live Medical Monday.

I'm Kyle Allen, your host, and joining me is Dr.

Leila Lewis, our medical director for AWR360 Health.

It was 102 yesterday, so it's beginning to get warmer here.

Definitely warmer than here in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

But we want to welcome you once again and welcome all of you.

It's called, the title for today's program is Nutrition and Exercise, How to Improve Your Immunity.

Lila, you know, as we've been going through these weeks of quarantine and stay at home, there's been a lot of people that have thought, man, how do I keep my immunity up with all of the coronavirus, all the COVID-19 pandemic happening, especially now as states are starting to open up, and we'll talk about that a little bit later.

How do we really keep our immunity strong when we're going back to work and things are starting to get sort of back to normal.

We'll be talking about that later in the program, but first I just want to remind everyone that these broadcasts, as well as the Sunday night broadcasts, are on our YouTube channel, Adventist World Radio, AWR360.

You know, I'm not a medical professional, but I feel like I'm learning every time we do these, so it's great.

Lila, a question because a lot of people were very interested in the topics that we've had.

We've had many interesting topics on these programs so far.

We talked about hydrothermotherapy, hydrothermal therapy.

We talked about nutrition and the doctor in the kitchen.

We have talked last week about the importance of sunlight and fresh air and getting out.

Can you just give us a quick review of last week's topic and some of the key things that we learned?

Well, you know, I think it's interesting, Pastor Kyle, that the topics that you just mentioned have actually been headline news over the last week.

If you listen to some of the administration within our own federal government, they have talked about humidity and heat denaturing, in other words, hydrothermal therapy, basically supporting some of the things we have discussed here on these programs.

Last week, we talked about, again, fresh air and sunshine.

We referred to it as ultraviolet radiation and open space.

And we found that it improved our innate immunity.

So again, go get your regular fresh air and sunshine.

Get the healthy ultraviolet radiation through sunlight and the fresh air.

And again, the studies are very clear that it improves your innate immunity.

And again, you can go back and you can look at some of these archive videos if you didn't get a chance to watch them already.

Tim Jackson, MD, PhD Can I just give you a quick report?

I have, since last week, every day gone out and gone for a walk in the sun because of last week's program.

So wherever you are, wherever you're listening, maybe you're in a city area or a country area, wherever you are, take some time, 5, 10, 15 minutes, get out in the sun, enjoy it, take your family out, go for a walk, and it'll be a blessing to your health.

That's 1 very practical thing we learned from last week.

Lila, lots of good information there, but this time, we have some really, really important things to discuss today, I believe.

Absolutely, and I'm looking forward to, again, you know, nutrition.

We've talked a few times on our Medical Mondays about different aspects of nutrition, but I think today's topic, we're going to be really blessed and we're going to learn some new things.

We have some states actually that even today are reopening some businesses.

I know Georgia is, a few others down in the South, the American South.

We have others that will be reopening in the coming weeks.

This is bringing up a lot of questions in people's minds.

How do I keep my immunity up with all these people going back to work, some businesses reopening?

Well, first thing I'd say, Pastor Kyle, that we are Christian Seventh-day Adventists on this program, Adventist World Radio, and I think before we embark on this, if we haven't yet asked God's blessing, I think we could ask His blessing.

That is a wonderful reminder, and we can definitely do that right now.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this opportunity to be on the program today, and we ask that you would bless us as we discuss these topics.
