The Three (or Four) Angel’s Simple Complexity

So they don't know that we have spoken for 10 minutes.

Yeah, Davidson, We were sitting there and all of these hundred students, they had been former pastors, former pastors.

And they were doing their master degrees.

So basically, most of them, all of these hundred students, they had been pastors.

They had only a bachelor's, so they wanted a master degree.

Or some of them were maybe doctoral students.

So there are 100 pastors were sitting in the big classroom and Davidson told us, no put your Bible away.

Put your Bible away, have a piece of paper so you can write something.

Write down on a paper all you know from the Bible on the 3 angels' messages.

What are the 3 angels' messages from the Bible?

Just you don't need to write it verbatim, you know exactly, but the key ideas in each angel.

Pooh, you know, that should be piece of cake even for children's upper school even.

I know 12, 13 year old kids, they know this.

But I tell you of these hundred pastors who were going to higher degrees, 15 of us passed.

Only 15 of us could really handle to, in a meaningful way, tell what the 3 Angels message is, the wording of it.

So I'm not, if the pastors can't handle this issue, what about the members?

I hear, I will not say the country, but in 1 church in this world has to train their pastors in the book of Revelation because he doesn't know what's there.

I'm not, I'm a pastor myself, I'm an ordained pastor, but you know, to be an ordained pastor doesn't mean anything here in this country or in Scandinavia.

But I have been into this work since 1988.

And I, I've, I must, I'm also guilty of not being that person and so dedicated as God expects me to be.

Let us go now to the book of Revelation chapter 13, because that's the place where it is a concentrated text on the 3 angels messages and according to to the wording of this seminar I had quite a few questions there.

Are the 3 anxious messages relevant in the 21st century?

What can we do to share them with the world?

How shall we present the 3 Angels' Messages to the world?

Do we have to believe the 3 Angels' Messages to be Seventh-day Adventists?

What interpretation of the 3 Angels' Messages can we trust?

These are extremely important questions, very important.

So before we start with those questions, before we start with it, we should actually read the text and try to explain it.

And I'm not giving you the liberal or the conservative version of it.

I'm giving you the standard Adventist interpretation that we have from the pioneers, that we have from LNG White.

Chapter 14, the first verse is there, verse 1 to verse 5.

We will not go through that, but it speaks about a select group of people, 144, 000.

That is exactly 12 times 12 times 12, 000.

So the 12 disciples who sat around the table with Jesus Christ minus Judas have multiplied 12, 000 times in the end of time.

I don't know if it is symbolic or if it is a literalistic number, but it's a big number.

But compared to the 7-8 billion people in the world currently, it's a very tiny little fraction, of course, It's just like a drop in the sea.

But these people, they are no totally surrendered and the Bible actually says, and in their mouth was found no guile for they are without fault before the throne of God." They have this victory in their optic, the blood of Christ is stronger than the temptations of Satan, and they believe it.

They have a strong belief that the blood of Christ is stronger than the temptations of Satan.

Because if we will enter heaven, we have to believe that the blood of Christ is stronger than the temptations of Satan.

If we don't have this little faith that the blood of Christ is the strongest power in the universe, we may have a problem entering heaven.

Very important to believe in the blood of Jesus Christ and the strength of that blood.

I think the Bible, It's a red thread throughout the Bible.

Romans chapter 5, will you read it for us?

And also, according to Titus, the grace of God encourages us, forces us to a life of obedience.

If you are just friendly and not aggressive, You can stop me and ask questions as we go along, no problem.

But if you are harsh, and so then, yeah, it will not be so nice.

I have no problem with any type of, if you don't believe what I say, you can say that also.

But I just present to you what is the traditional standard Adventist interpretation.

And we, there is an idea that we don't have a standard anymore.

Anyone believed what was right in his eyes, because there was no king in Israel, the Bible says.

And the standard is, the standard is actually the 3 ancient messages.

So let's go straight to it because we should do chapter 14 verse 4.

It says that These are the ones who follow the lamp wherever he goes.

So the last people of God, those who will be through the grace of Christ, will be finishing the work of God in this world.

That's actually the key text for this gathering.

And if you follow the lamp, that means you are obedient to the lamp.

You understand that the blood of Jesus Christ has cleansed us from sin, has been very important when we have been forgiven again and again.

I've sinned and I need forgiveness again and again.

And if it hadn't been for the forgiveness, you know, there would be no hope for me.

So we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ our Savior.

Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth, to every nation, tribe, tongue and people.

We are projected into the time of the end.

So we are not at any time in history, we are at the end time.

Because the book of Revelation up to this point, up to chapter 14, not including chapter 14, but up to Chapter 14 is covering all of church history in 5 majestic visions that we call PP visions.

The first is the 7 churches, the second is the 7 seals, the third is the 7 trumpets, The fourth is the vision in Revelation 12 with the dragon and the woman clothed with the sun.

And the fifth vision is the 2 beasts, the first beast coming, the 2 beasts in Revelation 13, the first beast coming up from the sea.

All these 5 visions, they cover all of church history.

From the beginning when the Prophet was living, until the end of time when Jesus is coming back.

So these 5 visions are actually synchronous visions in the first part of the book of Revelation.

And they are very parallel, especially the 7 churches and the 7 seals.

They are just as parallel as Daniel chapter 2 with the image of 4 metals and the 4 beasts coming up from the sea.

Covenantal Revelation: The Six Angels of Ch. 14 and the Davidic Covenant

My name is Joachim Poser and I work as a pastor in Lillehammer, 2 hours north of Oslo.

And I really wanted to come to you this time to share with you this presentation because it's just something that I really feel that we need to know as Adventists and particularly as our understanding of Revelation.

And by way of introduction I thought I would ask you what do you think this is a picture of?

You've no doubt looked at it, thought about it.

It's showing information in a graphic way and it's something that you have to do with every day.

Something that you have to do with every day hopefully.

That is close enough I would say, connections between scriptures, because this essentially is a picture of the Bible.

A mathematician looked at all the references that the Bible makes to other parts of the Bible and then made a graphic to illustrate all those references to other parts of scripture.

So at the bottom you see the white lines are chapters in the Bible.

So what do you think the longest line here in the middle is?

And all these rainbow lines that are going between those different white lines is essentially references to different parts of Scripture.

It's showing what I love most about Scripture.

It's always referencing other parts of Scripture to explain itself.

It's what we as Adventists have brought about as the golden principle when it comes to interpretation that the Bible interprets itself, right?

Like when we're interpreting the Bible, the Bible has to interpret itself.

And when you're listening to someone who's speaking about the Bible, they also have to do that same principle, right?

If they're going to say something about the Bible, they need to show it from the Bible, right?

They need to show that the Bible is saying what they are saying.

And that's the way in which we filter and quality assure a sermon, right?

We have to see that the person is saying what the Bible is saying and he has to show that by showing that the Bible is referencing itself, right?

I show it very often in my presentations because it shows what I enjoy most about the Bible.

But I think that before we go further, I think we'll just start with a prayer.

Dear Holy Father, we want to thank you for a new year in 2020, 2020 vision, a year of clarity.

I pray, dear Lord, that you may help us with our New Year's resolutions and the way in which we want to live our lives in the future.

I pray that you may guide us and help us to reach those goals that you desire for us.

And I pray that you may be with all the workshops today, that you may guide the speakers and inspire them and help them to bring across the message that you want to be preached today.

And I pray that you may bless this workshop here today, that we may learn what it is that you want us to learn about Scripture and understand what you would have us understand.

You know, before I became a pastor and studied at Newbold, I went to medicine school.

Some of the medicine school students are here at ASI, And I remember 1 time that I was at the boys' dormitory and I was reading the Bible and I was thinking to myself, how boring is this book?

I was reading other books that I thought was much more exciting, like Shakespeare and Wilde and Bernard Shaw, and I thought to myself that I just can't get into this book.

I can't get into how exciting this book is.

I thought, I was reading Exodus at the time, I remember I was reading Exodus And I was thinking to myself, it's so, it's so, it doesn't have a flow.

And I thought to myself, how am I gonna do this?

And I remember praying to God, help me, Lord Jesus, to discover the beauty of this book.

I know that I should discover this Bible, and I want you to help me to discover it." And he certainly answered that prayer, because I tell you now today that this is the most exciting book that I've ever discovered in my entire life.

It is fascinating and I hope that you're also there.

I hope that the Bible for you is fascinating, not out of a sense of duty that you feel like because you believe in this that you should also be fascinated by the Bible.

I hope that you are genuinely fascinated by the Bible, that you don't read it out of a sense of duty, but you read it out of a sense of devotion because you are excited about its message and excited about how it's made and put together.

Because I tell you, when you start discovering how this Bible, how this book is put together, the book itself is an evidence for a God.

Because these people, these human beings behind these chapters and books could not have done this on their own.

They could not have done this on their own.

And for that reason I believe that it's an evidence for God in itself.

And of course we then have prophecy that it sees the future before it happens and other evidence for God.

And we have also the system that is built up in the Bible.

But it is fascinating and I hope that today I can share a little bit about how fascinating the Bible is, but I hope you also discover it for yourself.

If you're not there yet, I hope that you get there soon, because it strengthens your faith.

Instead of hoping that this is true, instead of hoping that, You know, I hope that Jesus comes back again.

You become more and more settled in your faith.

So let me start by asking you, everyone, what are some of the covenants that God made with man through the Bible?

What are some of those agreements that he made with man?

Or let's take it in, let's take it in order.

What's the first covenant that God made with man?

An agreement that he made between Adam and Eve.

Sorry to put you on the spot but yeah exactly I hope that but enmity between you and the woman and between her seed and your seed.

He shall crush your head and you shall crush his heel.

And coincidentally, right after that in Genesis 4 we have the introduction of the first seed.

We have 2 family lines in Genesis 4 and 5.

Cain's line, right after this is mentioned, the serpent seed and the woman's seed.

We have Cain introduced in Genesis 4 and his family line and then we have Seth and his family line after that.

Serpent seed, woman's seed And the conflict that is engendered between the 2.

Preparing for the Sunday Law

Yes, we've had a prayer, so we are going to start just after we have a little pen coming.

So the topic that I will go through, that we should discuss a little bit about, will be about how to prepare for the Sunday Law and I am going to divide this into 2 sessions.

And the first session will be about the spiritual preparation and the second session will be about the practical preparation.

I have to tell you if you don't want to come to the second session, I have to tell you that the second session is not ex-cathedra.

So that means this is some things I have studied and it is some ideas that I get from the Bible and from the spirit of prophecy.

But I really encourage you to look very carefully at what I say and just not to swallow everything.

That's a good thing to do anyway whenever you come to someone who says something.

And we have had a prayer as we have said already.

So the first part here will be spiritual and then the second part will be more the practical preparation.

In the first part, and then we have a 5 minutes break or 05:10 minute break in between.

And after the first part here, I will also ask you if you have some questions and if you have questions during the presentation, then you are always welcome to stop me.

And if I get too confused, I will not stop.

Sometimes I can get a little bit confused.

So the preparation for the Sun and all the spiritual parts.

And the first thing we want to look at, that is the 2 times of trouble.

And you probably know that there is 2 times of troubles according to the Bible and according to the spirit of prophecy.

We don't know exactly how long these periods are, but the first period is called the little time of trouble.

But even though it's called the little time of trouble, it seems to me that this is longer than the great time of trouble.

And little in the sense that It is not as tough as the last 1.

Okay, and the second coming of Christ is, of course, we believe that will come here at the termination of the great time of trouble second coming it's roommateing yeah yeah this is roommateing yes okay but when does this start?

Do you have any idea when this little time of trouble starts?

So, first suggestion, Sunday Law, that is SL, that is Sunday Law.

And second suggestion is when you cannot buy and sell.

According to the Bible, it seems that the little time of trouble is starting especially around here the Sunday Law.

And where does the Sunday Law start according to the Bible?

When does the great time of trouble come?

So the first 2 plagues you think is not the time of trouble?

Yes, because you're actually hitting very correctly, but you're also close to the same.

According to the Bible, it's very clear to see that this 1 starts very clearly here at the beginning of the 7 plagues.

So this is when the 7 plagues they begin to fall.

When the door of mercy, Right, right, right.

So here the 7 acts starts and the door of mercy is closed.

Because it's 1 thing to say things and it's something else to prove it from the Bible.

And we will not have time to go into everything because then we'll never get to the spiritual preparation.

This is just to give you some skeleton to put these things.

Okay, let's go to the book of Daniel chapter number 12.

Oh actually first we first go to Acts of the Apostles chapter 7.

Actually I have not prepared to just look at Acts but let's try to find it anyway.

You know Acts chapter 7 what this is about?

And it says here, you stiff-necked and uncircumcised.

OK, we are at 54 in Acts of the Apostles, chapter 7.

You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in hearts and ears, you do always resist the Holy Ghost as your father did, so do you.
