The Good News About the End of the World

Holy Father, our Father God in heaven, Father we thank you for another Sabbath day where we have breath in our lungs and a heart that beats.

And Father we thank you that we still have health and we still have life.

And so Father today, in spite of myself, may I be a blessing not a curse to your people.

I ask you fill me with your Holy Spirit that in spite of myself that your people be touched and your people will be blessed to give a complete surrender to you, to receive your love fully so that we'll be prepared to see you in peace.

And so Father today, may this preaching of this feeble sinner be a blessing to you and use this piece of dust for your glory.

Never before in my life have I experienced a lockdown where government mandates have told us to stay in our homes.

Never before in my life have I experienced the requirements of wearing masks and entire businesses being shut down.

Never in my life have I experienced Disneyland and Disney World and all these businesses and movie theaters that are open perpetually being closed down.

And so we're living in a very interesting time in Earth's history where pestilence is all abound, where racial unrest and civil unrest is all abound.

And we see here that people are afraid and asking, is this the last days?

And many people are afraid of the times that we're living in.

And so, as Seventh-day Adventists, we are blessed to know that God has given us a road map of where we are in Earth's history and how things will play out.

In fact, as the world asks the question, is this the end of the world?

Notice the questions that the disciples asked Jesus before his time of crucifixion.

Notice what the Bible says in Matthew 24 verse 3.

Here Jesus was ending his phase of his earthly ministry and they were in Jerusalem and Jesus made a prediction that the vast beautiful temple of Judea will be destroyed and the Bible says in Matthew 24 verse 3 that Jesus' disciples asked a very relevant question, a question that many are asking today.

The Bible says this in Matthew 24 verse 3, the Bible says this, And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be?

And what shall be the sign of thy coming at the end of the world?

So the disciples asked, what shall be the sign of Christ's coming at the end of the world?

And because Jesus likes to reveal His secrets to His disciples, and because Jesus likes to reveal his secrets to his disciples and because Jesus likes to reveal his secrets to his people, Jesus revealed the time of the end.

Notice what the Bible says in Matthew 24 verse 7 about the signs of the last days.

The Bible says this, for a nation shall rise against nation.

That term nation means ethnos in the original Greek.

It means people, nationalities, or races.

And we see here today that nations or peoples are rising against other people.

We see great civil and racial unrest here today in the United States.

And then you have kingdom against kingdom.

And there shall be famines and pestilences.

That term pestilences means diseases and earthquakes in diverse places.

So the Bible says all of these things are going on but notice in verse 8 what the Bible says and what Jesus says.

Jesus says all these are the beginning of sorrows.

In other words, that term sorrows means birth pains or contractions.

And we know that as a woman is nearing to give a birth to a child that contractions become more frequent.

And so we are to expect more civil unrest.

We are to expect more wars and rumors of wars.

We are to expect more pestilences and famines and natural disasters.

These will become more frequent and disastrous.

But there is hope that in the midst of this ugliness, in the midst of this crisis, Jesus the Christ will make all things beautiful in this time.

But how does some people respond when Jesus returns?

Notice the Bible says in Revelation 6, verse 14, the Bible says this, together and every mountain and island were moved out of their place and the kings of the earth and the great men and the rich men and the chief captains and the mighty men and every bondman and every free man hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains.

And so we see here that many people, people of wealth, people of power, people of influence, when Jesus returns, they're going to hide themselves in rocks and mountains.

The Bible says this, and he said in the mountains and rocks, fall on us and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

For the great day of his wrath has come and who shall be able to stand?

Now in prophecy We know in Daniel chapter 7 that we see here that the various beasts are represented as beasts of prey.

The great terrible beast is described as 1 that destroys and stomps down.

But yet they're afraid of the wrath of the Lamb.

You see, people are afraid of the last days.

People are afraid of Jesus coming is because they fear that they're going to have something they'll lose.

They fear that they'll lose their bank accounts.

They fear that they're gonna lose their positions of earthly splendor and as human reaction, human nature is a self-defense mechanism of self preservation, they are afraid because they fear that they have something to lose when Jesus is offering everything to gain.

You see the people that are afraid of Jesus is coming are stuck in an abusive relationship with the things of this world.

You know in an abusive relationship we normalize the bad things that are going on.

We think in ungodly relationship when we're stuck in it we think it's normal.

It's called Stockholm Syndrome where we sympathize with the oppressor and so because we normalize death, we normalize abuse, we're stuck in ungodly relationship, we're stuck in abusive relationships.

We think that's normal and that translates to our relationship to the world and because we think death is normal and we think that all the bad things are normal we want to be on this earth more than we want to be in heaven.

That's why we're afraid of the second coming because we fear that we have something to lose But we have everything to gain.

In fact, who will not be afraid when Jesus comes?

Notice how the Bible says this in 1 John 4 verse 18.

The Bible says this, There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear hath torment.

He that feareth is not made perfect in love so the Bible says that Perfect love cast out all fear and the question is if we are afraid of Jesus is coming The question is do we have that perfect love?

When we love somebody, we trust somebody.

And when Jesus says that he will be with us till the end of the world, do we trust him?

Or are we stuck in an abusive relationship with the things of this world?

And we normalize the things of this world.

In fact, what will happen near the coming of Jesus, What will happen in that great time of trouble?

Notice what the Bible says in Daniel chapter 12 verse 1.

The Bible says this, and at that time shall Michael stand up.

You know when you stand up, you are protecting somebody.

And Jesus is standing up, the great prince, which standeth for the children of thy people.

Jesus is seeking to stand up to defend and protect his people.

The Bible says, and there shall be a great time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that same time, and that that time, Jesus, who stands up for the children of his people, shall be delivered.

Everyone that shall be found, written in the book." In other words, the promise of Jesus is this, in that great time of trouble, Jesus is gonna come and stand up for us.

Jesus is gonna come and deliver us from that great time of trouble Do you realize that the theme of the book of Daniel is deliverance?

In Daniel chapter 1 God delivered Daniel and the 3 Hebrews from being offended by Nebuchadnezzar by standing for the health laws that they held in fidelity and God blessed and prospered these war refugees, these prisoners of war to be prosperous in Babylon.

In Daniel chapter 2 there was a death decree of all the wise men But God delivered Daniel and all the wise men of Babylon because Daniel interpreted a dream in Nebuchadnezzar In Daniel chapter 3 the 3 Hebrews were cast in a death decree about to be killed in the fiery furnace but God delivered them in the midst of the fiery storm of forced worship.

In Daniel chapter 6, we see that Daniel was cast in the lion's den, but God delivered Daniel in the midst of the lions.

So too in the last days, When the crisis comes, God will stand up for his people.
