Now here's your host, Justin Kim, with Inverse.

1 motif you see throughout scripture is the house of God, the sanctuary, the temple, the great building that Solomon and Moses had partaken in.

On this episode, we're gonna look at the sanctuary and how it teaches us the elements and the attributes and about salvation and about God and all of this.

So we're going to have a word of prayer and Jonathan, you can pray for us.

Father, I just want to thank you again for the privilege we have to study your word and lord today as we look at the sanctuary a special gift you have given us we pray that you will open our eyes and understanding in our hearts and not just of us here but all those who are watching as well to see the beauty of who you are and how that changes and transforms our lives.

So, we invite your presence now and we pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ.

Sebastian, if you go to Exodus chapter 25, verses 1-9 please.

Exodus 25, 1-9, the Bible says, who gives it willingly with his heart, you shall take my offering.

And this is the offering which you shall take from them, gold, silver, and bronze, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, fine linen, and goat's hair, ram skins, dyed red, badger skins, and acacia wood, oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense.

Onyx stones and stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate.

And let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them.

According to all that I show you, that is the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.

You're matching our set with your yellow.

Give us, let us insight into the sanctuary.

Maybe some people may know a lot about the sanctuary and they don't need this introduction and some others are like, what is the sanctuary?

Is this kind of politics or what's going on?

I wish I had a graphic, a picture to show, but but the sanctuary was was erected, as was read by Sebastian, after a pattern that Moses was showed by God.

And what was the components of the sanctuary was when you were entering into the sanctuary, you had the outer court, where you had the altar of sacrifice, where they would make the sacrifices, and you had a laver with water, where they would wash.

And then you would go into the holy place.

And in the holy place you had 3 items of furniture.

You had a table of shoe bread where they would put 12 loaves of bread.

Show bread, but the old English shoe bread, not the shoes for bread.

Well, show bread, but in the old English it's shoe bread yeah, but you know when you hear the English you hear show bread like I don't know, shoe, anyway yeah okay so there's bread, a table of bread, a table of bread, and then they had the lamp stand, the golden candlesticks, it was a 7 branched candlestick, and then they had the altar of incense in there as well, where they would burn incense that would ascend up to heaven.

And then you'd go through a veil into the most holy place, which was the most holy of the place.

And in there you had the Ark of the Covenant and it had like the covering of the Ark of the Covenant had these angels on either side that were kind of looking over it.

And then inside you had the 10 commandments that God gave to Moses.

So that was kind of the sanctuary that the Israelites had like when they were going through the wilderness.

Yeah, that's a great overview into the actual architecture of the building.

We've been looking at education from different elements of faith, of character, of spirituality, of debunking educational systems, and then now the house of God.

He cares about making himself known to us.

And so he has used numerous ways to do that.

I mean, he has revealed himself through nature.

In nature, we see so many beautiful things that teach us about God's character.

He has revealed himself, of course, through the word of God, which came, you know, was established at the time when the sanctuary was established.

They started writing, you know, the first books of the Bible.

But the sanctuary was also 1 way of God teaching us about what he wants to do with humanity, how he wants to redeem us, what his plan is.

And it's kind of like a blueprint of God's way of interacting and dealing with humanity in their issue of sin.

And so the sanctuary, amongst other things, we're going to be studying about the Sabbath and so on, some other things, is a way for God to teach humanity about himself.

And it also caters to our fundamental principle here this season, which is that communion with God was His original chosen method of developing us.

But because of sin, that communion has been interrupted.

And so, God has now constructed a way to restore that.

And yet, even the restoration of that original method of development of men has a component to teach us about Himself.

Because everything that God does reveals something about God, about his character.

And therefore God is so ingenious that the very means of restoring you back to his plan of true education is a part of the process of the true education itself.

So in this modality, if you will, God is like, yeah, let me use this thing that's going to, even if you're the most base sinner, the farthest person from me, just the initial step of the outer court and making that step to initially want to come back to God, to enter into the precincts of the sanctuary, you're already learning about.

You're already getting to know me and experiencing true education.

There's gold, silver, red, black, onyx, badger skins, linen white.

I mean, it's a very multi-sensory experience.

There's physical space, there's sense, there's eyes, there's fire, fire, bread, you know, and it shows that God is into not only the ephemeral and the spiritual and what's out there, but also very, very everyday things, water, light, fire.

And the apex of that is found in verse 8, where it says, let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them.

Like God simply wants to hang out with humanity.

Like He wants to dwell and He wants to know us.

And this has been our theme throughout education too for that community together.

So, just in my weird imagination, I just think of, you have this, His entity who's made out of pure nuclear energy, and He wants to hang out with humanity, but because if He does so, humanity would be wiped out, not because of the nuclearness and radiation, but because of His holiness.

It just shows you the disparity between the holy and the profane, but the heart of God wants to supersede that, wants to cross that barrier.

So, he places himself in some kind of a containment building of the sanctuary so that priest and humanity can come together in front of God and later on, Jesus, if we go with the theme, this nuclear energy is embodied as a human being himself, and so that humanity can dwell.

That dwell motif is a powerful motif for humanity.

The sanctuary model, I mean, we have the sanctuary here as a physical structure, but we have seen this in the Bible before.
