The Faith of Jesus

But now Lord, as we're about to open the Bible, we need your help.

We need the blessing of the Holy Spirit to be with us.

So Father, please guide us through this time as we study.

Illumine our minds and help us to focus on the message that You have for us today.

So as you've seen already, the title of our sermon is The Faith of Jesus.

We've been looking at the 3 angels' messages and we are at the very end of the third angels' message.

Here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Friends, the focus of the 3 angels' messages, as we've been going through the first and then the second and last week we embarked on the third as well looking at the image of the beast.

All 3 messages point to 1 thing and 1 thing alone which is the commandments of God.

Fear God is to keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man, to give God the glory.

The glory is found in the commandments of God.

It is the character of Jesus Christ, which is written down in every single 1 of those commandments.

And then it talks about the hour of judgment in the first angel's message.

And then it tells us to worship the Creator.

And in the heart of the 10 Commandments, we find the basis for worship.

And then the second angel's message, it talks about what?

How Babylon had made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

It was the precepts of men, the commandments of men that go against the commandments of God.

And then we get to the third angel's message about the mark of the beast, the beast and the image of the beast and all of that really is what?

Opposite to the seal of God, the Sabbath, it is what?

And then now we get to Revelation 14 verse 12 where it says that the saints, they keep the commandments of God.

So friends, look, how important are the commandments?

Let's turn the Bibles to Romans chapter 2.

Let's go to Romans chapter 2 and verse 12.

How important are the commandments of God?

Romans chapter 2 verse 12, the Bible says this, For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be what?

Friends, the doers of the law at the end are declared justified.

This sounds like righteousness by works though, doesn't it?

It sounds like in order to be saved, you got to keep the commandments.

But I just want to show you how important other Bible texts come together to show the importance of the law.

It is in Revelation 14, 12 that everything is balanced out.

We can't keep the commandments of God without what?

Revelation 14, verse 12, here is the patience of the saints, here are they that keep the commandments of God and something else, the faith of Jesus, the very title of our sermon this morning.

So no friends, my focus this morning is not about the commandments, even though that has been the centrality of all that we've been studying so far.

We cannot, it is impossible to keep the commandments of God unless we have the faith of Jesus.

But friends, the doers of the law will be justified.

Let's go to Revelation chapter 12 verse 17.

I hope you're following with me along in your Bibles there.

Let's make sure that we test everything, prove all things, hold fast to that which is true.

Revelation 12 verse 17, And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed which Keep the commandments of God and have the faith and have the testimony of Jesus.

I'm gonna make sure that you're all there before we continue.

The dragon, Satan, is angry with God's people that keep the commandments of God.

Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city?

Who are those that have right to the tree of life?

Who are those that are able to enter in through the gates into the city?

Friends, the 10 Commandments is a defining characteristic of God's people at the end of time.

But without faith, it would be impossible to have this characteristic whatsoever.

All our efforts would be in a losing effort.

I want you to consider the quotes that we have here.

Faith is essential in order to the keeping of the law of God, for without faith it is impossible to please Him, and whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

We are talking about something that we absolutely cannot do in our own strength by just presenting the commandments of God.

We need faith in order to be able to keep or to do His commandments.

Now look, we can't emphasize 1 without the other.

If we just talk about the law and the law only, You know what happens?

It really is just righteousness by works.

But what really it does produce when you just talk about the law without faith is you're giving people a sense of hopelessness because no 1 can keep the law in their own strength.

We've done that for 6, 000 years already.

We've proved for 6, 000 years that man without faith will be impossible to keep the 10 Commandments.

So this is where people begin to hate the law.
