It is such a pleasure to be with you here today.

I know this pandemic has been rough on all of us and many of us are used to being a little Hollywood icon stars on Zoom.

But it's so nice to be able to see faces even if I can only see your mask.

I'm so glad to be here for many reasons but 1 of them is The first time I learned about Loma Linda was when I was reading life sketches by E.G.

White and I remember reading 1 of her visions about what Loma Linda could be.

So I was so excited to finally be here and to see what that vision and the hard work of God's people have brought about.

My husband's also a graduate of Loma Linda, and so it's just really nice to be here and just see what Loma Linda is about.

Thank you for Evan Hope for inviting me to be able to share what God is doing and how all of us together could bring about soon his forthcoming, right?

That's why this is the whole point of coming to church, encouraging 1 another so that we can talk about Him and like the brothers share, right?

And everything that we do in our daily lives and our work to share about Him.

Because there's nothing really good in us, but it is Him.

And when we disappear and people can see, wow, I see Jesus in you, that is the goal.

Dear God, I just want to thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to be here today.

Thank you, Lord, for taking care of us throughout the week.

Thank you, Lord, for the technology that makes us available happen.

Thank you, Lord, for just so many things, Lord, that we can just go on and on and on thanking you.

I ask you right now Lord that as we begin studying your word Lord that you may be with us.

That we may clear our mind of the cares of the world, of our issues, and that Your Holy Spirit may come upon us, Father.

That as we keep the lighting in your Sabbath, that we remember Your sacrifice and how much You love us, Father.

And that Your ultimate goal for us is to be able to be with you, Father.

So please be with us, be with the technology, Lord.

Hide me behind you and your cross and your sacrifice.

And just thank you, Lord, for being you and for loving us so much.

So before I start, I want to ask you for a favor.

I want you to take a second and I want you to think.

See if you can remember the first time you heard the name Jesus.

Can any of you remember, yes, in 1965 at 11 a.m.

I don't want you to think about when you heard Jesus.

See for many of you or for many of us, it's probably difficult to pinpoint that specific moment.

If you grew up here in the US, there's a high likelihood that you grew up hearing it.

Many other countries throughout the world, again, they have a Christian background, so it's more likely that you have heard the name.

And here, like many of us know, we have a choice.

We can choose to be atheists, we can choose to be agnostic, we can choose to be spiritual, But we have that word.

But there are places still in this whole world that don't know even know that name and who don't have that choice.

And this is why I'm so excited to be able to tell you about the ministry that I, for those of you who joined me last night, that I want to share about today.

It means warm heart in the local language.

And we are attempting to follow God's great commission, which is what?

And God has called us to this landlocked country, a communist Buddhist host country in Laos, which is part of something called the 1040 window.

I heard something about, yes, I saw some hands.

It's called like this because it is 10 degrees north and to 40 degrees north of the equator from West Africa to the Pacific Islands.

So sort of picture the map like an atlas like that, and right here in the middle, it's like a whole region.

And it's called a 1040 window because it is the least evangelized, it is the most populated, it is the hardest to reach area with the greatest poverty in the world.

So not only do they have all of these issues, but what's the most important issue, the biggest lack that they have?

All of us that have obstacles in our lives, All of us see many things, but the fact that on your hardest day, on my hardest day, I can get on my knees and say, God, I really need you right now because I can't take this.

They have spiritual darkness and no sort of light or hope.

And they don't have the probability to be able to come upon a university where a doctor is going to say, hey, can I pray with you?

So let me tell you a little bit about the region where God has called me.

So it's a large region, but where God has called us is the country of Laos.

And this particular region is the land that is 70% of farmers.

And you might keep that in mind because I'm going to tell you why that's important.

And while people are dying and being lost of him, God has called us there.

I share a little bit about my testimony about yesterday, how God had called us.

But I want you, before I talk a little bit more about this region, I want you to keep something in mind.

In 2004, there were 14 countries unreached by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Unreached means that there's no Adventist presence, that we're not really working in that area.

In 2017, the latest details tell us that they are, do you think we're doing better or we're doing worse?

And I gotta tell you, with this pandemic, it really set us back.

A lot of the borders are closed, even I haven't been able to go back.

A lot of the borders are closed, a lot of the home-in missionaries that were working in many areas got called back.

The work is getting harder, not necessarily easier.
