God’s Prophetic Timeline

The presentations today, the line up we've in the 3 Cosmic Messages series is outlined here.

This morning I'm going to speak about God's prophetic timetable.

We're going to look at Daniel chapter 8 and 9 and compare that with Revelation chapter 14.

It's a powerful message that has turned many atheists into Christians.

It is mathematical proof that the Bible indeed is accurate.

It's 1 of the most significant messages in all of Scripture.

Then this afternoon at 3 o'clock of course, Charles will sing, put on a concert.

If you have friends that are in the area, call them between the services and invite them to come to that concert.

Then at 3.30, Pastor Martin will talk about an urgent call to action from the book of Revelation chapter 14.

It's an amazing thing that in the 1840s there were major philosophical and political developments that were taking place.

Charles Darwin wrote his first origin, first draft of the origin of species on evolution in 1844.

Karl Marx in the 1840s wrote the Communist Manifesto.

Samuel Morse in the 1840s developed the Morse code and telegraphic communication.

We're going to look at how that fits in to Bible prophecy this afternoon.

In addition to that, of course, we mentioned Charles' concert at 3 that you'll want to be here.

And Charles, of course, will be presenting messages that are life-changing.

But now we focus on the presentation, episode 5 in our series, God's Prophetic Timetable.

A number of years ago, in fact 2 centuries ago, the United States government offered free land for anybody that would homestead that land in the West.

And a group of settlers were traveling across the United States, they weren't the United States at the time, but across the continent to get their free land.

And this group of settlers, of course, traveled in covered wagons.

As they traveled, they looked into the distance and they saw smoke.

And they knew that a fire was being blown toward them.

There was no way that they could retreat, no way that they could go back.

They had passed a river, some 1 day before, but they couldn't make it.

And Finally, 1 of the men who had been in fires like this before told the company, there's only 1 way that we're going to survive.

They burned a controlled fire behind them on a large piece of land.

And after that controlled fire was burned and put out, he then invited them to take their wagons and take each individual and put them on that burned out place.

As they stood there, a little girl about 10 years old cried out and said, are you sure that we all are not going to be burned up?

We're going to be burned up as the result of this.

And this is what the man said, my child, the flames cannot reach us here, for we are standing where the fire has been." What an illustration of the cross of Calvary.

The flames of hell cannot reach us because Jesus was burned out on Calvary for us, dying the death that we should have died so we could live the life that he should have lived.

There's a wonderful poem that goes like this, On him almighty vengeance fell, which would have sunk a world to hell, he bore it for a chosen race, and thus becomes our hiding place on the cross of Calvary.

The fires of hell were burned out upon Jesus.

He was condemned for our sins in which he had no share, so we could live his life in which we have no share.

The righteousness that we should have paid to the broken law he paid in our behalf.

And so on the cross as we come to Christ, our guilt is gone.

In the Christ, according to Romans 8 verse 1, there is no condemnation.

Christ was judged as a condemned sinner, so we can be judged as righteous citizens of the heavenly kingdom.

It's a wonderful thing to go to bed at night and know that your guilt is gone.

It's a wonderful thing to go to bed at night and know that your sins are forgiven.

It's a wonderful thing when you close your eyes to know that you're a son of God, that you're a daughter of the King of the universe, that if you do not wake up that night, that eternal life is yours through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have nothing to fear in the judgment because we stand in the circle of God's love.

The book of Revelation speaks about the judgment that will take place before Jesus returns.

There are many people that think of the judgment and they shake in fear.

They think of the judgment and they quake in horror.

They say there's no way that I could ever pass that judgment.

On our own, we're destined to eternal loss.

On our own, we're destined to eternal death.

But in Christ and through Christ and because of Christ, we can pass the judgment.

My friend George Vandeman of It Is Written Television, who I worked with for many years, used to tell me this, Mark, when I look at myself, I see no way of being saved.

When I look at Jesus, I see no way of being lost.

Focus your life on the 1 who is not only our judge, but our advocate.

You know, there's a conflict of interest in the heavenly court.

There's a what in the heavenly court everybody?

A conflict of interest, because what does Jesus say in John 5?

He says, the Father judges no man, but he's given all judgment to the Son.

It says, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

So suppose you were being tried in an earthly court, and as you're tried in that earthly court, the judge who sits judging you gets out of the chair of judgment and come down and stands before the jury as your defense attorney.

When the courtroom of the universe sits, Jesus is not only our judge, he is our defense attorney.

And because of that, we need not fear the judgment.

Now the book of Revelation chapter 14 verse 6 and 7 is part of the passage that we're studying.

We're studying 13 messages based on Revelation 14, 6 to 12.

These are the most critical messages ever given in the Bible.

Just as God had Noah prepare a world for the flood as he preached 120 years, and just as John the Baptist prepared for the first coming of Jesus.

So these messages in Revelation are given to us specially by God to prepare a people for the second coming of Jesus.

We'll look at that this afternoon, but the phrase we want to look at now is, for the hour of his judgment has come.

Does it say the hour of God's judgment will come in the future?

It says the hour of God's judgment has come.

In other words, the angels announce a present trance judgment.

In other words, it's no longer business as usual, no longer present pleasures as usual.

If we knew that the courtroom of the universe had sat, if we knew that the judgment was going on in heaven right now, if we knew that the destinies of all those who died in ages past are being settled, and that God is appealing to those living to get their lives right with God, would that make a difference in our lives?

It would make all the difference in our lives.

There must be a judgment before the coming of Christ.

Because the Bible says in Revelation 22, verse 11 and 12, that when Jesus comes, he comes to give out the rewards.

So if Jesus is coming to give out the rewards, there must be a judgment preliminary to his coming to determine who receives what rewards when he comes.

Do we have any evidence in the Bible of when this judgment began?

Do we have any evidence of that in Scripture at all, of when this judgment began?

Do we have any evidence of when this began?

I would much rather have the explanation of an angel than the explanation of any human being, wouldn't you?
