Heavenly Father, we thank you again for your love for us.

We thank you Lord for the incredible plan of salvation that you have provided for us Lord.

We thank you for calling us as a people for such a time as this.

Lord please speak to us Lord as as I speak Lord may my words, may your words be my words, Lord.

Lord, if there's someone here who needs to submit and give their life to you, I pray that this testimony will help them.

In Jesus' precious name, we do pray, amen.

The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians chapter 5, verse 17.

All things are passed away, behold, what?

How many of you find that promise precious?

And that promise, I believe, has very deep significance for my life because I was, you know, you saw me 15 years ago, totally different person, totally different lifestyle.

And yet when God came into my life, he made me a new creature.

Some of your translations may actually say if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, a new creation.

And it's amazing when you begin to understand that, you know, Peter Gregory was sharing today about learning how God works through studying the Bible.

And he talked about how just studying the book of Genesis and the first 2 chapters, you begin to see this pattern of how God works.

And as he was sharing that testimony I was kind of shaking my head back there because I said man Peter doesn't even know what I'm gonna talk about.

And so I remember as I was looking at this, I came to an amazing point.

It was that, wow, God creates, or God recreates us in the same way that He creates.

If any man be in Christ, he's a new creature.

All things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.

He's a new creation and the same God that created the world in 6 days and rested on the seventh is the same God who seeks to recreate us.

And if we look at the pattern of how he created the world, we can find that same pattern in how he recreates us.

So I'm gonna share my testimony with you through the creation week, is that okay?

And as I'm sharing that with you, you're going to say, wait a minute, that fits me too!

Because you'll find, in fact, let's just get there.

So let's go to Genesis chapter 1, Genesis chapter 1, and we'll begin with verse 1.

Genesis chapter 1 verse 1, the Bible says, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Void and Darkness was upon the face of the deep.

What was the condition of the world before God began His creative work?

It was empty, without form, and it was in darkness.

Do you realize that that is a condition of every person before they come to Christ?

Have you ever felt, man, I feel empty, void, darkness, Without form.

So I want to share with you that portion of my life.

Not that Jamaica was an empty, void, dark place.

They didn't bring my brother and I as Christians.

But without going to church, it's kind of like you're your own standard.

And so born in Jamaica in 1972, and I was christened as a Catholic, and that was the extent of my, you know, religious experience as a baby.

That was, you know, I was christened, and then that was it.

We never went to church or did anything like that.

As I look back at my life and I look at how God was there, even though I didn't know it, I can see.

Have you ever looked back at your life and said, man, that was God.

When I was about, I don't know, 10 months old, my mom decided to go to the beach, her and my uncle.

And so They went to the beach and a bunch of other people.

And when I was a baby, I was a very fair-skinned baby.

And so my mom leaves me on the beach because she gets in the water.

My uncle is in the water because he thinks my mom is watching me.

So my mom's in the water, and something tells her to turn around.

She turns around, and she sees my blanket disappearing in the horizon.

She begins screaming, my uncle jumps up out of the water, he takes off running.

They said they were taking me for a walk.

I was like, Lord, what would they have done if they found out?

So I look back, I say, wow, you know, those are those kind of instances where you see God working in your life, you know, before you even knew who he was.

About the age of 5, my father was in the military, and, you know, he was always dealing with the drug lords in Jamaica, Rastafarians.

And so in the military he had 4 of us, 4 sons.

And my father would say, my sons will never have dreadlocks.

We'll talk about that a little bit later.

And so, you know, he hated those drug lords and the drug lords, because my father was, you know, pretty effective in arresting these people and that kind of thing, hated my father.

1 night, my father was not home, and my older brother, he was about maybe 9 or 10 at the time, and he was getting ready to go outside, and it was getting dark, and before he got to the front door he noticed that there were 2 men on either side of the door with guns in their hands.

They were holding guns and so my brother he's kind of like what's he turns around goes back to our mom and says mom there's 2 men outside standing with standing at either side of the door with guns.

Well, what happens is that these guys had come to the house to basically execute our whole family.

And we had our neighbors on either side of us saw what was going on and they had guns and so there was this like big shootout and our lives were spared and again I look back and I say well that had to be God protecting us when we didn't even know him.

As a result of that incident, my family, we decided to leave Jamaica and move to New York.

And so we, that happened in about 1978, 1979, our family moved to Brooklyn, New York.

And there in Brooklyn, New York, you know, coming from this small island, you know, to this big city with all these lights and everything.

My brother and I were just like, whoa, what is this?

When I came to the United States, anybody ever heard of patois?

Okay, patois is kind of like broken, it's broken English, okay?

And when I came to the United States of America, my patois was so bad, like my older brother tells me that Jamaicans couldn't understand me.

Okay, so when I went to class, when I went to school, and if I said anything, the kids would break out laughing.

Like seriously, if we're in class and the teacher would say, you know, first of all, on my worst day of school was always the first day of school.
