How to Boost your Immune System

I'm happy to be here again to present this talk, how to boost our immune system God's way.

But before we get into the talk, Some people have approached me regarding the what we call the wellness program that we have in our office.

It presents the 8 natural remedies and additionally some other remedies such as clay, charcoal, and hydrotherapy and how to use them to remedy illness.

And this program is free of charge and is open to the community.

So if you see my phone number there or the office number, please take note of that.

If you know of somebody who would benefit, let them know if they're willing to come.

1 of our secretaries will enroll them in the program.

It begins on the first Wednesday of every month and ends on the following Friday.

So not, well, the Friday of the following week.

People come in, they have breakfast, devotional breakfast, then they have a walk afterward, they come back, they have another, they have a lecture, after that they exercise a little bit, after that they have a cooking demonstration, and after that is lunch, then another walk, and then they go home.

On Saturdays and Sundays, we meet from 2 p.m.

To 5 p.m., a shorter program, but it allows people to go to church.

We do blood work before the program and after.

What we've seen the most is changes in cholesterol, because every item on the menu is plant-based.

So there's no cholesterol in the menu at all.

And so the Most I've seen someone drop is 65 points in 10 days.

65 points in 10 days, most people drop at least 20 points.

Oh, let me, Yes, the phone number is missing a digit.

And we have a website, people can go to the website and there will be a link for the program there.

There is a sign up form just where they can put their information and that'll go to our email and we can also contact them that way.

They have a hard time getting through the lines when they call.

And so we're happy to be able to offer this program to the community.

Let's go ahead and go to the first slide, and then we'll begin our talk.

So God's remedies for boosting our immune system.

It is, this topic has become much more relevant since the advent of COVID.

Praise God, COVID at least for now seems to be, you know, waning.

We don't know what's coming really, in all honesty.

By the looks of it, it looks like other viruses, COVID might mutate into a less aggressive variant, more what we call virulent, virulent which means more transmissible, but less pathogenic, meaning causes less severe disease.

And that happens with other viruses, and it's likely that's gonna happen with COVID.

Now, this is not to say there couldn't be another virus coming later, and we should not be surprised, as we know that Jesus has said, that as this coming approaches, more pestilences will be happening, more disasters will be happening.

So let's suppose that we are in such condition that there are disasters everywhere, either natural disasters or pestilences, and the supply chain is broken.

Would we think that there is nothing we can do and we are doomed?

God hasn't left us in darkness regarding these matters.

And so he's given us enough information so that we can prepare.

And it is now, the time is now to learn about these things, very simple things, and not only for us but also so that we can share them with other people.

Well, to summarize it, it causes, it activates something called oxidative stress.

And oxidative stress is a very damaging thing in the body.

And there are specific steps the virus takes.

And if you forgive me, I'm going to look this way to look at the screen.

So, oxidative stress causes reactive oxygen species.

And these are free radicals, and they will damage the body in different ways.

Inflammation is a term that refers to activity of the immune system.

So excessive inflammation means an excessive activity of the immune system, which when the virus was very intense, you heard the term cytokine storm, right?

Well, cytokine storm is a term that was coined to describe the amount of chemicals released by the immune system that cause a number of detrimental effects on the body, mainly blood vessels and coagulation problems.

And so that's what happened to the people who got severe COVID is that they developed increased vascular permeability.

And then also, there was an increase in the coagulation.

And so that caused microembolism in the lungs and other organs.

And so that decreased the oxygen to very low levels.

And many of them could not survive it because, well, right now we don't know exactly, but we do know that the larger someone was, you know, the more excess weight they had, the more difficult it was for them to survive COVID.

And if they had other conditions like heart disease, it was very hard for them to cope with that increased stress.

And the heart is put under a lot of stress during an acute illness.

And if they had blocked arteries preexistent, blocked arteries, well you can imagine the demand of oxygen went up so high and the blocked arteries kept oxygen from coming through and it caused increased demands on the heart and the heart sometimes couldn't do it.

Lungs, if you have microembolism in the lungs, if you have fluid in the lungs you can't really exchange oxygen and so that would happen.

Now there are a number of activities that increase inflammation and therefore predispose us to have increased oxidative stress.

It's a lack of sleep is 1 of the most detrimental things that we can do to our immune system and to throw it off, so to speak, because that's what excessive inflammation is, is that dysregulated immune system.

And obesity, same thing, It's a state of constant inflammation.

The immune system is constantly activated and it can also lead to immune system fatigue.

Diet high in fat, sugar, and processed foods.

That's another activity that will increase inflammation.

Exposure to radiation, things like cigarettes will do that.

Alcohol, certain medications, pollution, exposure to pesticides, all of those things.

And that's not an exhaustive list, it's just some of the main ones.

Okay, well diseases are the result of broken health loss.

We mentioned that this morning for those of you who are here.

I'm not sure what happened to that slide.

And so God has given us ways by which the body can be restored.

The problem is that many times we keep doing things that get in the way of that.

So injury is constant and that's what oxidative stress is, so the body doesn't have time to heal itself.

If we take away the things that are causing injury, the body will tend to restore itself.

And the ways by which God proposed us to do this are simple and are affordable.
