Revelation of Jesus Christ

Let me go ahead and say good evening to everyone.

And a super happy Sabbath to everybody and I hope we're truly happy.

Very, very glad for all of us to be together.

We have some good things that we are going to study this evening.

And I really appreciate what Surbhan just said because the idea is to keep it simple so that way we can all understand but in simplicity there's also some profound points some things that kind of really hit right to the heart and so once again I'm realizing that the kind of the state of our world the state of the church that we're in today, there's a great need for a deeper experience amongst the hearts of God's people.

And so what we're going to do is talk once again about that and more importantly, what is the foundation?

Because last week, as mentioned, we talked about biblical Christianity.

What does it really mean to be a Christian?

Because that word, like love and many other words, has been abused.

It's almost like people do a lot of things and they do it in the name of God.

And you know, Jesus actually told us that such days would come.

You know, we see people go as far as even possibly taking somebody's life and they do it in the name of God.

And do you know that John 16, Jesus literally said that.

He said, people will literally kill other people and they will do it in my name.

And so unfortunately, there's all these different pictures of Christianity that's being put out there.

And what God wants is he wants a vindication.

He wants the world to know what it really means to be a Christian.

And we were able to study that last week.

So if any of you kind of want to know, like, hey, can you let me know about some of those things you covered, just see me after the study and I'll be happy to get that information to you because what the world needs right now is a proper revelation of the character of Jesus Christ.

That's what the world literally needs right now.

It needs to have a right understanding of who God is because right now it's getting a little confusing unfortunately and we need to go ahead and make sure that we're given the right picture.

So before we go ahead and start I'm gonna have a word of prayer and I'm gonna ask you of course to join me for that.

I'm gonna kneel to do that if you'd like to you can kneel with me otherwise you can just bow your heads where you are.

But let's go ahead and let's have a word of prayer just to prepare our hearts to receive the word at this time.

Our Father in heaven, Lord, we know that you love to speak to us.

And the most direct way you speak to us is right through your word.

And so I pray that at this time as we study tonight, Lord, we ask for your Holy Spirit to be our teacher because he is the only effectual teacher of truth.

Make your words plain to us, we pray, and lift our hearts heavenward, and may we behold Jesus and by beholding him become changed into the same image.

For this is our prayer that we do ask in Jesus name.

You know when I read the Bible I want you to go to the book of Revelation chapter 2.

Or as a matter of fact, before going to Revelation 2, let's go to Matthew 16 and then we'll go to Revelation 2.

In Matthew 16, I'm going to ask, now you'll find that I'm going to ask us to read, okay, to read verses.

We are actually going to go through quite a few verses this evening.

But I'm going to ask someone if they can read for us Matthew 16 in verse 24.

And let's see what Jesus is saying here in Matthew 16 and verse 24.

Last week we talked about what it means to be a Christian.

We saw that the word Christian in and of itself means follower of Jesus Christ.

A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ.

Everything that Christ has done on this earth that is of eternal and character benefit, Christ has said, I want you to follow that same example.

And so it is, we're seeing that if we're gonna come after him, what is it that must indicate the Christian lifestyle?

Meaning there's going to be things at times that we are going to want to do.

God's somewhere along that line is going to say, I know you want to do that, but I don't want you to do that.

And then he's going to say now I need you to make a decision.

Here's what you want and they're against each other.

God says if you're going to follow me, I am not going to surrender to you.

That's what we're seeing in Matthew 16 in verse 24, right?

All right, now let's go to Matthew 10 in verse 37.

And then once you find that, I'm going to ask a reader to go ahead and read that 1 for us.

Now, God is what, what is God saying in these verses or in this verse?

Do you think a lot of people are going to like that or dislike that?

Putting him first even before the most dearest people to you, like mom, dad, brother, sister, husband, wife, even your own life.

Do you think people are going to find that a hard counsel to follow or an easy counsel?

They're going to find that a hard counsel, aren't they?

So 1 minute, he's telling me to deny myself the things that I want to do, the things that I feel to do.

Here goes God saying, well, not everything you feel is right.

Not everything you want is for your best.

You know, being a father of 4 children, you know, now 4 adulteran, you know, not children anymore, right?

It's like, you know, watching my children grow up, I realized that God looks at us the way I used to look at my children.

So he's crawling on the floor and somehow like a screwdriver or something was on the floor.

So obviously, you know, handle, point, obviously, if you fall down the wrong way, it could do some pretty serious damage, right?

So he's having a blast with this dangerous thing.

So when I see that thing, I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.

And I go ahead and I immediately take it from him.

Do you think he said, oh, All right, Dad, thanks.

He spoke the language of every disgruntled child.

Now, he's thinking I did something bad to him.
