Fresh manna fell to the ground as a gift from God while the Israelites were in the wilderness.

It was Fresh from the ovens of heaven, baked by the master baker himself.

How the Israelites must have anticipated the taste and the smell of each morning's delivery.

Just like the Israelites, you too can now enjoy the taste and smell of fresh manna.

Today you will be listening to Ariel Roldan, pastor of the Cadillac and Lake City Seventh Day Adventist churches in the Michigan Conference.

Father, we approach your throne of grace with great confidence because of Jesus, knowing that His perfect prayers, Father, takes our feeble, clumsy words and makes them beautiful.

And they're beautiful to You, Lord, because we approach you with a faith that of a child because you promised we ask and we receive.

Father not just for next Friday do I pray for words from you but for this morning as well.

This song we heard says, Jesus, come and feed your lambs, and Father, the food we crave and need the most is your Word, made alive by the Holy Spirit.

And I pray that that would happen, Lord, that we can all experience that miracle of seeing words in this book become living words that speak to our hearts, awaken, instruct us, convict us, and transform us.

That last 1, Lord, is what we long the most, to be transformed into the likeness of your son Jesus.

Please, Father, send that same spirit to minister to all of our family members, those represented by my brothers and sisters here in this sanctuary this morning.

Wherever their parents, their grandparents, their children, and grandchildren may find themselves today, right now.

We ask that holy angels will surround them and expel the darkness and fill their minds, Father, with your spirit, creating them a desire for you, a desire for grace.

So we're gonna continue with our series on Daniel 2.

And this morning's message is entitled Prophetic Heart Searching.

And it deals with the function and purpose of prophecy.

Because we have used a lot of our outreach based exclusively on prophetic time future focused prophecy, As a church we've kind of lost the role of prophecy as a whole.

God is not simply wanting to show that he knows the future so that we can believe that he is real.

But the functional part of prophecy is way more transformative.

Paul says in 1st Corinthians 12 that knowledge puffs up but love edifies.

So God certainly is not just wanting to fill us with knowledge about the future, because knowledge about the future really doesn't change anyone's heart.

There has to be something else that can bring about a transformation of a human being that is exposed to the prophecies of Scripture.

1 of my professors, Joseph Kidder, he is a native of Nineveh, like literal Nineveh, out in the Middle East.

And his story of conversion, I think the Michigan Conference had him at a camp meeting sometime back, and he's written a book about how God led him out of where he was spiritually into our church and eventually into ministry and eventually now as 1 of the professors at seminary.

In the interim of this transition he found himself in California and he's an extremely bright individual, very wise with money and he found himself with $10, 000 available to invest.

And he had a friend, this is back in the early 1980s, and his friend was a well-connected financier.

He said, hey, Joe, I would encourage you, really, for you to invest those $10, 000 into this up-and-coming company.

It's a company that is going to start making personal computers.

And Professor Kutter at that time thought, personal computers, who's ever going to want that?

Well, he forfeited his opportunity to put $10, 000 into this up-and-coming company back in the early 80s and He was sharing this story in our chapel worship, in seminary.

And then he said the company was called Apple Computers.

We fight, and I guess for some of us, it's sports.

For him, it was the capacity to plan well for his financial future.

So this is how much $10, 000 invested in Apple computers would have netted him in $2, 024.07 million.

And of course, the expression, if only I had known.

And so he realizes he invested those $10, 000 sensibly, conservatively, safely, and he got a return likewise.

Not much return, just sufficient for him to feel like he didn't have a loss.

But compared to what he actually lost, he really wishes, at least back then, that there was a way to know where we could put our money.

So I'm going to try to blend 2 ideas this morning.

What would happen if we were to know the future?

And in order to illustrate the effects of that as in a secular sense, if we could know like stock market value, if we could know companies to invest in, if we could know where the big fish are in the lake, right, ahead of time.

If we can know those things, how would that affect me?

There was an article that I read many years ago about a very poor inner-city boy that grew up and big kid for his age always.

And by the time he got to high school he was a favorite for the football team and his freshman year in college got picked up by, of course, the University to Play full scholarship and before he graduated he had already signed a multi-million dollar contract with the NFL, Literally from rags to riches.

And because of his dire poverty growing up in the projects, drug infested environment, et cetera, et cetera, And now having bought his mom her house, his siblings their homes and cars for everybody and of course himself a nice house too.

Soon after he began to experience the difference of million-dollar salary versus food stamps.

A reporter, a very astute reporter, approached him and asked him, do you believe that money changes people?

It simply amplifies what they already are.

If you were a selfish, self-centered person as a poor person, should you come into wealth, guess what you'll be.

If as a poor person you thought about the plight of your neighbor, you thought about the needs of others and shared the things you had, Should you come into wealth, it is very likely that you will also think about the needs of others, not just yourselves.

So I'm trying to blend these 2 because had my professor Kutter known the future, he would have been extremely wealthy, but what effect would it have had on him?

Would he had ended up being a professor at the seminary?

And come across it because he knew the future, not just haphazard or just intuition or receiving the advice of a friend.

The certainty that if I put $10, 000 into this company in 2018, I will be a millionaire.

What effect would future knowledge have in my heart today?

And to some degree, I'm going to, by blending these 2 concepts, we'll prepare our minds to actually deconstruct the ideas that we have that prophecy is for the future so that we can know the future so that we can prepare the future that I'm gonna actually argue it's secondary maybe even tertiary purpose there is a primary purpose of prophecy that has little or nothing to do with the future but everything to do with the now.

Knowing the future simply from a human plane or human view or human perspective does the same.

It simply amplifies what's already inside of me.

But it is different when God reveals the future.

God does not simply reveal to you what stock to invest.

That information is not found in the Scriptures.

And yes there are prophecies that speak about the future for sure but even those future focused prophetic revelations have a present function a present purpose that if we miss it we will not receive the effect the blessing that God has placed in those prophecies and if we miss that it is useless to know what's coming it would have been better for us to not have known at all when God reveals the future listen carefully His goal is to transform us and thus transform our lives.

Prophecy's primary purpose is to reveal who I truly am inside, to myself, not to others.

In your Bibles, we're gonna now spend some time studying and seeing this principle in Daniel chapter 2.

I told you before I thought I knew the first couple of chapters in Daniel I had invested most of my time studying Daniel 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and I thought all you know the stories I know the lions then I know the fiery furnace I know the image but I have to tell you I'm glad the Spirit has led me to have my devotions in the book of Daniel for the past month and a half almost.

There's so much that I had overlooked and not really paid attention to.

Daniel 2 verse 1-3 reads as follows, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams, plural.

And his spirit was so troubled that his sleep left him.

Then the king gave the command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams.

So they came and stood before the king and the king said to them, I have had how many dreams?

What this allows us to understand is that it was the same dream over and over and over and over.

God wanted Nebuchadnezzar to know that this was not just a fluke.

This was not just his mind playing tricks on him or something impressed him during the day and had him to have this weird dream.

No, this was something unique that he needed to pay attention.
