Nevertheless

Father in heaven, thank you today for your word that brings us together.

We ask that you would speak to us through your word, encourage us, inform us, and lead and guide us.

We live in a time of, when people are consumed with the idea of equal rights and justice and equality, the idea that everybody should be treated the same in every area of life.

How many of you think you should be getting paid as much as the next guy?

How many of you know that maybe you shouldn't based on how you work?

This is going to great lengths And we could talk about that, but you know what I'm talking about, right?

People say an equal opportunity employment is a right.

And some people will say, this is a right that we have.

And so Equality is the mantra of our time.

And our water believes that life ought to be absolutely fair, that people should get what they deserve.

The secularist might say, pay it forward.

Someone maybe misusing Galatians will say, you reap what you sow.

Shouldn't everyone just be treated as they deserve?

Well, we've been studying the Psalms as they relate to the Exodus, and last week we studied Psalm 105, and this week we're looking at Psalm 106.

So I invite you to turn in your Bible to Psalm 106 as we consider this question.

And Psalm 105 is really, was really a gripping Psalm last week as we looked at it because we realized that God was in control.

And I talked about God being in control of the world and everything that happened, Even in the accidents.

And he was the 1 behind the good times and the bad times.

So, you might say Psalm 105 is what God did.

And Psalm 106 then begins to focus on what they did.

So what God did and what they did, that is His people, the children of Israel.

And Psalm 106, verse 6 kind of summarizes what they did.

And how many of you can add yourself maybe under that verse?

You didn't come to church to get beat up today, but I mean just realize you're kind of summarized in that verse.

And How was it that they had done iniquity?

How many of you have people in your life that like to tell you all the bad things you're doing?

They, that, Let me just tell you how you're doing that wrong.

Let me explain to you what you're doing wrong today.

Those kind of people you just love, right?

Let's get together next Tuesday and let's just keep on with this.

I'm open, I want to hear what I've done wrong this week.

You heard about the people that got married And they said, you know, we want to stay on top of stuff.

So we're going to make a list every week of everything we did wrong.

And once a week, we'll get together and we'll just share with each other what the other person did wrong.

This is not, this is a strategy that you might want to think about.

And so, you know, they started their marriage and they got together in the first week and 1 of them, I can't remember if it was the male or the female, said, well, let me share what you did wrong and went through it all.

And the other 1 just didn't have the heart.

And they said, you know what, I love you for this, I love you for that, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.

And the 1 who started sharing what they loved had a great loving response from the other 1.

And the other 1 who shared all the problems, it did not go so well.

How many of you have ever heard that saying?

Keep your eyes wide open before marriage and half shut afterwards.

So how was it though, in this psalm, it focuses in on what they had done wrong.

So it talks about what they had done wrong during the Exodus.

It talks about what they had done wrong in the wilderness.

It talks about what they had done wrong during the Exodus.

It talks about what they had done wrong in the land of Canaan.

So in the Exodus, they says they did not understand, They did not remember what God had done.

They had just left Egypt and already they rebelled.

This is what they had done wrong, verse 6 through 12.

Then, in the wilderness, it's 40 years, so it's a longer list.

There's a list of what they had done wrong in the wilderness.

They did not wait, they were impatient, verse 13.

They made a calf a molded image, verse 19.

In other words, they got to the Pleasant Land, they despised the Pleasant Land.

They got there and he says, we know it's great, but we can't take it, we can't go in.

They did not believe his word when he said they could go in.
