How to Have VIVID Worship Time

All right, well let's go ahead, let's open with a word of prayer and we'll dive right into our talk here.

Father in heaven, I thank you for the chance to share just a little bit about what it is to have a vivid worship time with you.

I pray that there will be practical points that can be taken away, that students will be blessed, that you will speak plainly here and not overly long, and I pray that there will be those points we can take and share with others that they too can be drawn to a loving Savior in Jesus name, Amen.

Let me just pop that right up on the screen right there and let's see what we have.

Ever felt like I'm supposed to have worship time here or devotional time?

I'm supposed to be up at such-and-such an hour but it just you're not real happy about it you just know you're supposed to you almost feel guilty.

So here's a question just to start us off here.

Now this is rather open-ended, but what do you do with your friends?

Now, only say nice things, please, but what do you do with your friends?

Now, suppose, okay you want to talk to them.

Suppose the thoughts in your mind were something like this.

Well, now, if I don't call whoever them are, your friends.

If I don't call them, or perhaps if, you know, if I don't read their latest email or these days text, if you can read it, they're not going to like me.

They're going to unfriend me and pop in some other loser from Facebook.

That doesn't sound like the basis of a good, sound, stable friendship, does it?

And yet of course, you can see where this is headed, is that what we do with the Lord?

Now I'd be like, okay, is it hot today, cold today?

I mean, that wouldn't be the basis of anything.

So now, the Bible tells us in Proverbs 18, 24, that there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Now, since it's the Bible, you can guess who the friend is, right?

Some versions might even put a capital F there.

So who is the friend that sticks closer than a brother?

Now, if he's a friend, then we ought to approach him as a true friend, right?

So you don't want to be afraid that, well, if I don't have whatever you want to call it, devotion time, if I don't have my worship time with him, then maybe he's not gonna like me, right?

Remember, he died for you, so he's probably a little better than that.

Well, this is pretty close because it says it's closer than a brother.

Some texts of the Bible suggest that he is a brother to us.

So we need to keep that in mind if we're going to have a successful time with him.

He doesn't say, you better come to me, otherwise, you know, I'm going to be kind of angry with you and you're going to have to do better tomorrow.

He says, come unto me, all ye that labor and are what?

Okay, so in other words, you're having a hard time.

If you come to me, I can ease it and I can make it better for you.

He doesn't say I'm going to give you a tongue lashing for yesterday and we had kind of a lousy time together.

By the way, is that something friends do?

Now also it tells us here, it gives us an invitation in Hebrews 4 16 it says let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that he sits on that we may obtain mercy and find what okay grace it's a few things in the Bible it can be equivalent to trusting we were told, but also it can be that thing that strengthens you for whatever the day's trials are.

I can give you all the help you're going to need.

You don't know what you're going to face today.

I do come on to me and I'll give you exactly what you need.

Anybody here ever had 1 of those experiences where you read something, whatever it might be in the morning, and then later in the day is like, man, that's the very thing that I needed.

Maybe not all of you, but enough that you can look around and say, okay, well, some people have had this, and so it'll come to you as well.

So he's a helper, he's a listener and he's a helper and he's interested in each individually.

Now also let's think the first thing you said you like to do with friends, you like to talk.

That's kind of broad, I know, but what are some things you talk about?

And I think in modern lingo, I think I know what you mean by drama.

What are some other things you talk about?

How much you love it and you wish you had only more to challenge your mind.

So in other words, lots of things, right?
